Wellll, a couple of things. My response to Teeh0r was more aimed at the blanket statement that CMs have something to hide. My appologies that I got a little snippy with you....However, if you go through these forums half as often as I do, you would know that there are a core group of CMs that would go out and try to reproduce these bugs if they were ever brought up to us.


Sorry if I seem a little tense, but thepossible implicationthat CMs are sneaky shift cheating I-win-button leet dudes sort of drowned out the fact that you did post a bug here for the first time.


There are a core group of CMs that would go out of our way to test things out, even it would bring negative changes about to the CM profession. It is my opinion that the VAST majority of CMs that are regulars in these forums are more less the leet dude fotm type but may feel defensive because the vast majority of no CMs that post here have very little constuctive things to say, if any are constructive at all.


Again, please accept my apology.


I promise to work with you to objectively identify bugs if you objectively report them. Don't assume that it was brought up in these forums.


Just curious...how long did you suspect this bug before you reported it here today?

quick question

this "core group of cms" that you all speak so highly of... are those the guys that where the first cms on your servers? the guys who owned the crap out of everyone and were godly elite before anyone else figured out cm was the win? the same group of guys who are now pissed that everyone has their godly profession?

These "core group of CMs" are myself, jfang, Texxie, Pahd, etc. Those people who have the good of the profession and its role in this game at the heart.


We are not out here to exploit, we are not here to "pwn" people...we are here b/c we like having the ability to contribute both to healing our group, and helping it take down large, or numerous foes. We are trying to find that *balanced* niche that we belong in. If something is overbalancing (like 96m poisons, havla "bombing") we make every effort to fix it without going overboard and "nerfing" the profession. If something is weak, we try to bring that to the Devs attention with what seems like a reasonable fix.


We are not havla bombers, we are not exploiters or griefers. We are people who love the CM profession and are actually ashamed of the 1337 haxx0rs who spew poisons and diseases at a rate the Devs never intended, and kite from 90m away until you triple incap and die.


The few...the proud...the REAL Combat Medics.

No offense, but your post seems a little negative. If it's leagal where you are at, crack open a beer and relax a little. If ya wanna push peoples buttons, try the GCW forums instead.

so far the only good argument i see against a 75% reduction is "our dps in pve will be too low"

1. how about a 75% PVP ONLY reduction... like everyone else. yah...

2. who the **edit** cares about your pve dps, you are a healing class with limited offensive capabilities. you shouldnt be outdamaging pistoleers for loot.

I didn't forget anyone! See the word in red!


I just listed the first 3 people who came to mind...the people who have defended the profession time and again, from nerf-criers, and people who think that CMs should push a button and kill everyone on the server simultaneously, while unlocking their FS slot and opening up a super-secret JTL character who can beta-test before the beta-testers.


Not to say that we 4 are the only ones--just the ones I'm most familiar with. I'd feel pretty silly if I accidentally typed in the wong name and named Monsieur 1337 as a "real" Combat Medic.


/cracks open a beer and raises it to Pahdbacca.

Lol, the statement "outdamages pistoleers in PvE" is such a blanket statement.


If we choose an Ancient Krayt Dragon, I'm pretty sure that my poison/disease will outdamage even a Master Pistoleer spamming Fanshot or Stopping shot constantly with a DX2 or DE-10.


If we choose a Kunga Warrior (vulnerable to heat), and you use your FWG5, and I toss the same poison and disease...the pistoleer will completely outdamage me. I might get one tick off...if I'm lucky.


You cannot compare one profession to another as a blanket. Each profession has strengths and weaknesses that others do not. Combat Medics are unique in that our damage is universal, regardless of the mob. It would be interesting to see some of the high-end mobs have poison/disease reduction modifiers...where they take 10, 20, or 50% of the normal poison/disease damage.


That being said, please don't complain about CMs outdamaing pistoleers. Sometimes we will, sometimes we won't. In the long run, we've put more skillpoints into CM than you have into Pistoleer....so we *should* outdamage you in certain situations.

Hmm, I think that the the existance of "over time" concept is probably is a fair point. A full 75% reduction will hit them harder, due to a series of small amounts of damage being ultimately neglible.


A 75% reduction on a single hit that does 1000 damage, reduces 750 damage. Regardless of how much the person in question heals per 10 second tick [or whatever it is].


A 75% reduction per tick on a DOT that deals 100 damage per tick for 10 ticks [1000d amage, abstracted numbers really], gets reduced to 25 damage per tick. However, if you assume even a meager regeneration of 1pt/10sec tick [some builds would get different, obviously], it nets a 24 damage per tick, or a 76% reduction instead, which is worth considering. Especially when you start applying real numbers, and have the potential for specific regeneration to far exceed the 25/10s tick number.


However, I do still think some more form of reduction may be appropiate, but frankly, alot of that would depend on the results/consequences of the combat rebalance.
