I agree w/ you Slek.

I've been a CM for awhile and used healmind last night. It blows. You're right on - it should drain the action pool - not give mind wounds. That makes absolutely no sense. Although others might think you're bitching and take what you say totally out of context - I happen to agree.

The only thing I can think of in trying to understand the devs. logic is that in order to make us not exactly like the entertainer and drain out action pool - which would make sense, they give us mind wounds instead to make themselves feel like they did SOMETHING...

How about less annoying schematics for crafting poisons/disease, rather that the resources and components you need from just about every planet that take forever to gather...not to mention cost quite a bit...

why do insist heal mind should be used like a stim? tossing healmind left and right?

Well yes and no.

First Even if it was a ranged ability the wounds that is costs would prevent from tossing left and right. But I feel more like a Doctor trying to heal someone. Click on person; /Follow; /healmind (out of range);/healmind (out of range);/say stop moving;/healmind (out that hurt)

The Combat Medic is all about RANGED stims and packs. So why is this ability a close one? I don't care if they add a pack we have to craft for pete's sake make it ranged to fall in line with the rest of our abilities.

On to the second part of your post:

and yes i am a master combat medic on corbantis and use healmind but i use it as its intended. I use it to revive an incaped player so he doesnt get slain or db depending if we pvp or pve.

Well, you have just broke the mold. I applaud you.

Hey am i flaming you? NO

You have just opened the eyes of at least this Master Combat Medic. People are still crying to give a combat medic rez ability. Now I was one of the people who would still like to see that happen BUT this is almost as good. While a Doctor sits there and sees his mates fall in battle because of mind damage, and has to wait for the MOB to come DB him we can be healing their mind and getting them back up into battle.

So a Doctor has to wait for that deathblow while we get them back up. So it is almost as good as rez.

One last thought.

Yes I believe that the mind wounds are excessive. I also agree with the other poster that if a entertainer takes action damage to heal mind wounds why can't we? Well ok I agree a little. I think they should move the Mind wounds to Action wounds. This would make more since, still limit the healing, and get it out of being a self griefing tool. There are enough things out in the world that attack my mind pool and give mind wounds why does it have to be me too?

Well, why I do think the wounds may be a little excessive(move them down to 15-20 wounds), I do find this ability useful. It was never ment to make mind as healable as action/health. It was ment to be used very conservatively. If we could heal mind perfectly, all higher mobs damage would need to be increased as it is already very easy to keep group healed up on health/action. Last night I saved our group several times by mind healing the TKA, if I didnt, we wouldhave been at the cloning center.

To the people who propose make it take action wounds, this would make cms VERY overpowered. You think the cries were bad before the 1HP cap? Being the only class that could healthe mindpool infinatelywould not work the way the game is designed. As it is now, I can raise my focus above 1600 with food/drink(no spice), and then I dont takeanymind damage at allfor poisons/healing/any specials. Or, add another CM and we can healeachother forever.

I've used the mindheal function and while the damage can put a strain things I most certainly find it to be useful. I'm a master doc/master combat medic which leaves me with nothing useful in terms of straight up combat skills. I have a fabulous support role but I nearly completely depend on someone else to do my general butt-kicking for me. So if I take 40 wounds to my mind and secondaries in order to put someone between me and whatever is about to take a big chunk of my butt, you're absolutely right I'm gonna take damage for them. I may have wounds but I'm not staring at the sky and getting a free ride on the cloning train.

We have a previously useless command called "Boost Moral". What it does is average out the total wounds of the squad. So you have your 40 or so mind/focus/willpowerwounds, we have ten people in the squad and press the button, now you have 4 wound to each. We love you too.

Oh man Ob, that is an awesome skill. I am going to have to require that you get online more and come on all TGi hunts from now on.

That is EXACTLY how I think mind heal should be used. For CM's that dont alsohave the rez ability to get their group mates back on their feet and prevent them from being DB'ed. Healing the mind wounds in a camp does not take very long even after using the heal 3-4 times, and you can be back in action literally within minutes.

They are gonna need it. Entertainers have seen thier exp drop off the charts with the new decay on DB....more and more people are cloning and not taking dirt naps unless they have to.

i don't quite get it... if you don't like it, don't use it. noone forces you to use /healmind, it's not a tradeoff to the new DoT system, it's just a new skill.

... so if i gave you strawberries, but you really wanted strawberry shortcake, is that a slap in the face?

hmm, that's making me hungry O.o

I'd have to argue with you pappi healmind was a perk added to subdue some of the Combat medic anger for the poisen +1 debauchery done to our profession.

There's a way around that as well...

Getting back on topic, mind heal is great, just don't overdo it. Just like popping muon, don't be stupid. I can't count the number of times I prevented a TPW from using mind heal... wounds versus decay... wounds versus decay... gee I know which one I'm picking!

Besides, I've never had so many entertainers hit on me as the day I strolled into the Coronet cantina with 880 mind wounds.

Hey folks...first post!

Anyway, I want to say I've used the Mind Heal ability a few times and I've found it to be pretty handy. I don't wear armor so the damage isn't that bad, and if the person dies, well I can revive, too. And with some Teltier Noodles, mind damage is reduced even further.

However, I merely wanted to comment on an off-topic item: Power grinding entertainers...

Until recently, I thought that the disease packs were only good for PVP griefing, but recently I discovered that a CM with a good supply of Mind Diseases can be a great help to a powergrinding Entertainer...Merely get a third party to accept the disease in a brief duel, and have them watch the entertainer as their mind gets knocked down! An entertainer friend of mine got 50k entertainer healing exp in one evening by this method.

You might even be able to charge folks for the service! (gasp!)

maybe im stupid, but a doctor or combat medic that uses armor in battle is a total freakin moron. you wear full suit of composite? without using mindheal, you are completely useless anyway. the medics should not have any encumberance on the mind at all.

that said i been using the mind heal often and to everyone's enormous gratitude

i take like 400 wounds in the mind, then the squad leader distributes them evenly across teh group, we fight a little more, then we sit in camp for 2 minutes and let the master musician heal us. go away with your whiny lil combat medic woes, they fixed this profession in the last patch, and your too immature to notice.
