It looks like we get a fire state...I'm not on TC right now but that should be interesting. It might be one of the ones listed at the top.

Just confirmed it's point-blank. The effect is nice though.

I agree that pistols should not be required. As it stands, doc requires 4040 medic (43 points) combat medic requires 0400 medic (29 points) + Marksman 0400 (29 points) 58 points verses 43. Thought this was suppose to be balanced. The problem though is no so much of the points required it is the line. Why pistols? It should be marksman 0004 range support. That makes more sense and keeps from locking people into a certain template. What if I want rifle/cm or carbine/cm or even get fancy and want a melee with cm. Pistols 4 would be a waste in all these situations, but the range support line would benefit in all. This is a change that needs to happen.

Aye, I am going to repeatedly post here about this issue. Pistols NEEDS to be taken out and replaced with Ranged Support. This is FORCED templating and makes no sense. Quite frankly I am treating it as a bug and everytime I log onto TC5 am /buggin it. It is a waste of 14SP if you dont want Pistols.

I agree 100% forcing CMs to use pistols isn't right. I understand pistols were the most widely used weapons in the movies but common this isn't the movies.

I think the reasoning behind the Pistols line is because, well, we get a pistol at Master.

Aside from that, I don't really know though.

And I agree, as things stand now, Ranged Support would be a more beneficial pre-requisite for CM's to have as it will allow more templating then simply Pistoler and other Pistol Based profs.

Remove the pistol at master. Allow us to choose the weapon line we want. We can then use the 'master' weapon of our choice. Not happy about this at all!

Damn...have I been that touchy lately?

No worries anymore. I've given up the fight.

Do I like the CU medical changes? No, because they've caused me to leave this game. But I'll do what I've always tried to do in the time that I'm still here... help out.

And hopefully get the devs tomake sure the medical profs are balancedwith the CU...

Betcha they were thinking to throw or administer treatment you'd need a free hand and not be carrying around a 2 handed weapon. Although I'm of the opinion that to administer treatment you should ideally have some supplies with which to treat. So the argument there is moot in my opinion.

Hehe, cool

Well I did some checking on the Skill Sheet and find having Marksman Pistols makes even LESS sense now.

Look at the SP and specials gained. Say I am a Riflewook, which I am by the way, now I need to take Rifles, and Pistols according to the Skill Sheet to get CM. The SP for each line (Rifles and Pistols is 14 points respectively). The specials provided in each are the same (just in a different order) until the last box (rifles4 or pistols4). This is the same with Carbines. So effectively the first three boxes of each of the Marksman trees provide no extra specials, all you get is weapon use bonuses for the specific weapon. The only different specials are as follows:

Rifles 4 - Aim - 5 SP;

Pistols 4 - Quickdraw - 5SP;

Carbines 4 - Rapid Fire - 5SP.

This means if you choose a profession other than Pistols you are effectively spending 14SP for ONE special!!!! There is NO special worth 14SP, and this one is a novice special, no less!!! As a master riflewook I cannot see using the novice marksman specials very often at all. Particularly quickdraw. So basically, it means wasting 14SP for no gain whatsoever. (For those who dont know yet, it seems you can use different profession specials if you have trained that box. So, for example, if I trained up to the Fanshot box in Pistols I could use that special with my rifle).

As I have said, this is forced templating and makes no sense whatsoever!! We need to have Ranged Support!

While this is an interesting point Sean (cool name btw ) I believe this is why we have warm-up and cool down timers. These timers should be taking into account these 'realist' factors.

Not just "a pistol at Master". More like a "fantastic DPS unique pistol" at Master. Since no one but master CMs can use it, you definitely garner some respect using one of these in battle. As to why a pistol? Medical professions if they are associated with weapons are typically associated with a small sidearm so it doesnt impede their healing duties.

I think it may make more sense to change it to ranged supportanyway. I understand that some of the specials may be useful for that Master Pistol, but it just doesn't make sense that the pistol like is a Pre-Req. We can always pick up the pistol line if we're interested in it.

Thoughts?
