Thread: So this is fair??
Stop whining about 1vs1 fights - and dont talk about balances 1vs1
I loose 30-50 FPs as Colonel in a fight and earn 3-7FPs if i DB someone - so stop telling me, loosing FPs is hard. it isnt. its 2 missions work to die a few time for free.
Why do you all fight other classes, where they are good? I fight imps before Bestine - and often i die, cause its bestine and there is many support for dieing imps (or many coverts who helps out). And i dont complain about nerfing Bestine. Every Class has another role and you have to fight a CM if you get him in the open field. Dont try it in a town. Thats all. So, why are you whining?
Have a Doc with you, he can cure your wounds. Why do you run alone overt in a town? Its not an Ego-Shooter, its an MMORPG.
And for all:
You need 25 special (very special, so after 2 months of playing, im didnt find 2 yet) resources to craft these good poison. I think all the whiner are BHs who never had an crafting tool in their hands.
Max Range of Poison is not 64 or 256m - lol - but 30 for average and 45 for very good poison. In Group PvP i died mostly right before the enemy group, cause i had to run to them and no one of my own group comes so near, he could heal me before i get DB. So give us 64m Range for average Poisons if you will take non-LOS from us. Or tell me how i can get close to a group without dieing - TO APPLY (only to apply, think about resists and all the stuff) poison. And then tell me how i can DB the Incap, if he is in a group?!
So stop talking about your lack of friends in this game. Its boring - try to find someone who groups with you and have fun in dieing.
Bobo was this by any chance in Theed on Eclipse?? Id swear I wasted a guy called Bobo through the Starport wall the other day.
If i can stand in the Imperial capital of the Star Wars universe lobbing poison through a wall, id say that there is something up with the other Imps who are usually standing around.
I love poisoning from that spot, almost always take out a couple of faction pets into the bargain ![]()
lets just hope you dont take out your anger on the wards of the state that you look after.

Most of the whiners are BH's from what I've seen.
They don't understand the concept of a passive or indirect combat class.. you know that guy you called a loser.. bashed . and didn't tip that just healed yer rear in the medical clinic.. well.. be friendlier .. you might live a little longer with a nice doctor around. Not everything it out in the open.. reguardless of what others seem to think; the range.. speed.. and resist amount of poisons can be .. and usually are .. dismal.. 30m. max weapon range is what? 64m? .. pets can be sent futher than that..
Most of these direct combat players think all battles are fought out in the open..
as an example without going tooo far into bad taste..
did we ever catch the guy reponsible for all that 'white powder' in the us mail?
no? why.. it was a bio attack.. covert.. bio attack.. it did it's damage.. we didn't know where they guy was/is ..
so I don't think this non-los stuff is really all that suprising..you follow a master cm into a building without a doctor.. yer funeral pal.. you might own me in an open field.. but not in a building... tactical advantages.. I love it personally.. I think mind poison needs to be toned down.. and something needs to be done to make health/action poisons a viable alternative to mind poison.. but all in all.. I don't think the whole concept of a combat medic is out to lunch..
I just think people need to understand .. not all fighters are heroes.. and not all soldiers have guns...
That doesn't mean we're not soldiers..

1) The radar problem maybe figured out...maybe the radar shrinks in town...but I KNOW it was at the top of my radar, and I KNOW I keep it at 256...it's always been 256..I never change it.
2) Why is it in AO that I saw docs in town offering their buffs, but I NEVER see that in SWG? I'm supposed to go around and find any doctor I can and constantly bug them for buffs? With the cost of making some of those uber packs, I doubt docs are just throwing them around...even for tips.
3) No, we haven't caught the "white powder" bio terrorist. The difference here is that this isn't done through the mail. If that same guy was standing on the other side of a wall and tossing them at people, he would be caught plain and simple. Get your examples right.
4) Yes, I treat the clients there just fine. Venting here is appropriate. Tracking down that guy that did it and going to his house and beating the crap out of him would NOT be appropriate. This is called "Processing", and it's what any person should be doing with their anger.
5) I said it, others said it. If you want to think non-LOS is fair, then give it to all the other ranged classes. The fact is, walls block a lot of things...INCLUDING bullets and poison covered anything. Don't believe me? Take a baseball, cover it in cyanide, and try throwing it through a wall. Take a gun and do the same thing. There is no stretch of the imagination that could possibly allow a poison pack to magically go through a wall and hit a target you can't even see.
5) Yes, you still have to train a weapon to get the combat experience you need to make CM. Personally, I think that's junk myself. It should be pistol. But as it sits, training pistol up to specialist takes 14 points (since you already have marksman trained). Not horrible. If you throw in another 6, you've got dual stackable bleeds. Whatever little nuances about what packs are compatible between the two classes I don't know enough about to comment on. I only looked at the character builder and saw that you can squeeze in those skills into a template.
6) No, I'm not a BH. Actually, I'm not even decided on what elite I'm going to be. I'm master 2h sword under brawling, working on pistol, some medic, some scouting. My playstyle is to pick up the skills I like and play them. I don't go for the uber template of the day like so many others. This is my game, I play what I enjoy. I like the damage on the sword and the pistol (and the moves look good too), I like being able to heal myself well, and I like to be able to run fast. I chose imperial because I liked the way stormtroopers look for pets.
7) No, this was on Radiant server. I'm not going to advertise what town because I don't want a ton of CMs there since the range seems to work out well at this spot.

Ok, fun points to share with all of you here:
1) The radar problem maybe figured out...maybe the radar shrinks in town...but I KNOW it was at the top of my radar, and I KNOW I keep it at 256...it's always been 256..I never change it.
there are some things that work in favour of the CM there:
- sometimes it gets so laggy for others that you can throw and burstrun out before he even notices what is happening
- if you hide in a group of people, prefferingly coverts of the opposite faction, their dots can overshadow your dot on the radar
nevertheless, the max range for a CM to apply things is slightly higher than 40m.
2) Why is it in AO that I saw docs in town offering their buffs, but I NEVER see that in SWG? I'm supposed to go around and find any doctor I can and constantly bug them for buffs? With the cost of making some of those uber packs, I doubt docs are just throwing them around...even for tips.
guess who that is, that you need to get buffs? the same person that payed their way up to master by healing yer sorry arse to get nothing but a "thank you" while you ran out, and usualy not even that "because we get exp from healing you"
no wonder, that person is not standing there offering free buffs, but most certainly would buff for a reasonable fee.

some people get caught because they dropped cover, some people get caught because people dropped their cover, some people don't get caught because they are good and some people don't get caught because the people to catch them rather don't want to. get yer examples right ,)

well, you're in my house, trying to stir trouble.

if you look at the animation, we throw stuff high into the air, across walls etc. I totaly agree that there are issues involved with places that are designed in a way that you simply can not get out or infast enough if at all (starports, cantinas, non-public buildings) but that is not a LOS issue. look at multiple other threads on this board, what our poisons do, what our max range is and what we have to go through to make them. just to state a few:
- we have less DPS than any other weapon fielded by a Master of it's class
- we have less range than any other weapon
- we have to craft our own weapons at much higher cost (even if you pay 50k for a gun, you are still cheaper than our poisons)
5) Yes, you still have to train a weapon to get the combat experience you need to make CM. Personally, I think that's junk myself. It should be pistol. - currently and by design, only Master level CM packs are worth using in combat and that will not change any time soon
- having only the ranged support line as requirement, gives us the requirement to Master Marksman, without having to spend all the skillpoints and allowing us to specialise in one weapon instead. but that is not a requirement. other requirements that are not official are: Artisian to survey for the resources we need exclusivly andDoc Crafting IV to make the best subcomponents
- anyone can go Master Marksman and get 3 types of bleeds for less skillpoints than we do. any novice elite fighter gets 2 stackable bleeds for less skillpoints than we have to invest
what's your point in that point again?

so basicly, you are complaining, that a Master of a Hybrid class owned someone with a varity of starter skills.

trust me, any Master CM with intentions to go PvP and worth his salt, will know the town he is fighting in or will scout it out before he starts the fight.

That was one hell of a post. One of the best I've seen yet. Great job.
I would like to adda fewadditional thoughts: I don't want to hear any more BS about Combat Medics should bea "support" class. As I understand it, there is no such thing. The thought of us being percieved as a "support" class gets my blood boiling. It's like relegating us to second class status. It's a **edit** fine game that has a medic that can actually deal damage, instead of sitting on his ass watching the action unfold. As a carbineer and combat medic, not only am I keeping my group alive, but I'm also dealing out a lot of the damage.
I also like the point someone else made here... run away. Get a group together and ambush the guy in the starport. I can think of several ways this can be done, besides doing the stupid thing and trying to rush him solo. Sounds like you learned the hard way about what a CM can do. I've noticed a lot of the complaints against us have died down to some extent because people are learning (quickly) how to counter combat medics and their poisons.
If you are walking around unbuffed, especially when buffs are available, you deserve to die. It wouldn't hurt you to wander by the medical center and ask a doc what it would take to get a buff. Most I know would be happy to do it... even for free. It can't be all that hard.
I'm not saying you shouldn't be upset, or feel like this is an exploit. But don't come here and tell us that we're overpowered... especially when many of us have put a great deal of time and effort to get to where we are.
Oh I would definately say the CM is a support class...this is not to say its a 2nd class profession tho...
a support class is a class that add functionality and increases the abilities of the grp to do certain things...
anyone in this game can pick up a weapon and shoot it and thus add firepower to a grp. but true support classes do much more than this...
our ability to heal and heal at range and AOE makes use a powerful class...
in fact range heals are all about support...with medic and doctor you could say that those are less support oriented because they have limited range and thus u can get it just to heal you...but with CM and Ranged Stim, they are only useful for healing others...same with AOE heals...
if you are just healing urself, then u would never need a ranged or AOE stim. You could just use normal stims...
hence having ranged stims and AOE heals makes us the 2nd most support oriented class in the game...first being the squad leader...
What BoBo fails to see in the title is "Combat" Medic. Who said that Combat medic was supposed to be a support class?
"I got pwned, and I'm mad..." just about sums it up.
As a Master Doc, I'll buff you, but you're going to pay... My 2.5 hour buffs cost me a heck of a lot of money in the comps, many of which are rare (cause I only use the best ingredients), and smart people understand the value of them.
Whining because youdon't get them free? that's RIGHT.... get a group, get some buffs (don't be cheap, most combat type are richer than me trying to peddling some stims), get some tactical sense, and move on...
Oh, and it was well said by the person who stated "your basically in a starter class, and you got owned by a Master COMBAT class... "... cry me a river... oh, you have been..
Jun Horde, Master Dr. Tarqinas
You were flying a flag right? Then you're a target. You should be complaining to you're buddies for not keeping thier city secured. They were obviously letting an OVERT master combat medic roam your city ..tsk tsk Sounds like a personal problem to me.Here's how you handle it...DONT GO OVERT UNLESS YOU HAVE BACKUP.
I don't like the idea of attacking people in front of the starport,in the cantina,or in the med center, but it happens,I also dont like imperials who log-out to keep from losing thier AT-ST's,but it happens.
Your best bet is to travel in groups if you're overt, land at a less-traveled starport, and take a shuttle over.Spawning into any busy starport while alone and overt is taking a big risk..you took that risk..and you paid for it..you ran into a Master CM.
If you think getting to CM is easy..spend a couple of weeks getting master medic, and then tell me how easy it is,then you have to get ranged support specialist ,which by then means you will have probably learned specialist on at least 2 of the weapons trees..I dare say reaching CM is just as hard or harder than reaching BH,we have people in my guild that play less than I do,but they both reached BH before i reached CM.I'll also go so far as to say that THE ONLY thing greulling about reaching BH is wilderness survival.
And reaching MASTER CM ..that is a ridiculous amount of healing ...please try our profession before you tell us how easy it is.
Oh and as far as CM being a support role..that just shows how little you know about our profession
Does "Chemichal Warfare Specialsist" suggest a non-offensive role to you? Thats the title I wear (when I feel like wearing 1)
right now we dont function as a support class because of the extreme power of the mind poison...
just because a class is support doesnt mean its not neccessarily offensive...
i fully thing that as a CM since we have non-LOS application of poisons, they should not do as much as any combat class just. Our weapons are also fire and forget...
if u look at the beauty of fire and forget dots, its this...
we have a fire and forget weapon so unlike doctors and medics, we can help our grp dish out damage as well as heal at the same time...
we unlike doctors/medics dont have to decide to either attack or heal...we do both...so I can toss an AOE dot from behind a wall then go back to my heals and still damage my enemy without doing anything else...
besides LOS there is the advantage of fire and forget...this is extremely powerful...
and thus should no dot as much damage as upfront LOS combat classes...
in that sense, the CM is a support class i think...we support with Dots...but as it is now mind poison is so overpowering that we end up the main damage dealers in combat...
honestly the term damage of time is lost if we do a lot of damage all at once....we should do average damage over a long time...hence why we get non-LOS applications of poisons...
