I dind't send pets in just to get mauled. I sent pets in to kill stuff I can't solo easily (Huf Duns, Vun Golgs, Dalyrakes, etc) sometimes the pets don't even get injured much, sometimes if they get a few adds they'll drop to *maybe* 75% Health or Action. All healed IN the same fight usually. I used pets to farm the 600+ organics I need for my factory for each componant run.
Well Actualy i think you Just solved the problem for yourself right there, You use faction pets to farm for resorces, You don't use them to Grind at MED exp. While yeas it is unfortunate that you can't gain exp for healing them anymore, By your own word you are doing it for the resources...Not the EXP.
Anyhow this oviously isn't true...Because if it was you woldn't be making such a big deal about it...this would be a "Well, That sucks...Ohh well" post. All you have to do is Expand beyond your current playstyle, yes i know it may not be exactly what you are looking to do, and try out one of the methods many other people have mentioned here already
The med exp was a natural result of this so, just like any other profession, I was able to farm resources AND get exp. I don't need nor want anymore pistol or combat exp. Med exp, however, I can use and was getting WHILE doing what I wanted to do--PLAY the game.
How many people are there around to heal at 2-3am EST? Not many.. Maybe 1 or 2 in the Theed med center in an hours time, maybe 2 or 3 in Bestine..or maybe none at all..
For the love of god: How can I get into (Krayt, Rancor, dungeon, etc) hunting parties when there simply aren't any being run?
Since the Devs will never read this I suppose that it is a moot point. Check the Test Center boards(the only boards they seem to read)and they have a very similar post that Vass closed after saying :
Maybe "for now" means until people start dropping the CM class to goto Commando.... oh wait they are broken....

I understand the concern regarding this, but the decision has been made on this one for now.
Thanks for the comments

I personally two-box SWG (Gotta love that SCS), but irregardless, I chose CM as a support class to my primary character. This way I could have nice heals, and some offensive abilities to boot.
Since combat in this game is ENTIRELY GIMPED!!!!! and relies virtually 100% on pets, and pet tactics since our lousy ham bars never ever, not in a million years, increase, healing pets was the ONLYREALISTIC way for me to obtain medic exp.
I dontEVER get hurt. I send in my 3 Faction pets, my pre-nerf probot, and my Critters (novice BH/CH of course) and let them do the tanking. If I want to haveANY chance at all of killing anything over a durnni, vynock whatever, you HAVE to use pets. They are the only thing that can tank worth a crap. They have restricted players to the point, that we are about worthless in combat, so everyone and their mother is becoming at least a novice CH, even if they aren't they are getting the best CL15 pet they can find, which anyone can use. I even had a master CH go scout one out for me, and got me this spider thing from dathomir, CL15, 2.7k hams, with a ranged attack. Again, a NON CH pet with more then double the hams I have as a player!!!
So now I sit there, my pets holding aggro, taking all the damage, while I and my CM sit back, popping off lasers at whatever I am killing till its dead. GREAT! Now the CM gets to heal, but oh wait, he doesnt get any exp for doing something that he is intended for, HEALING!
GASP! OMFG! WHAT?!? GET HEALING EXP FOR ACTUALLY HEALING!!! Cant have that! Lets get out the freaking SOE nerf bat, and away we go!
Lets put the "GRIND" back into it like everything else. From the very beginning, we were told, and told again, that we could "enjoy" this game without having to grind, yet they are continually dong assinine things like this, that just stick a whole lot of "grinding" right back into the equation.
You have "practice" crafting strictly for the grind to get to master status so you can make anything halfway decent. You have millions of combat type exp needed so you can "grind" your way to the next skill box. When does the fun begin? I work harder in this GAME then I do in real life! Between running to harvestors, sticking credits in everything under the sun to keep it working, producing meds to have something that at least all level of players buy (thankfully that is one area the dev's have right!) Oh wait, they NERFED Stim A's so now you have to be a novice medic to even use those, oh well, so much for my thoughts on that.
This game is continually being "balanced" to the point of shear boredom, and the "grind" that eq was.
For once and all SOE quit freaking Nerfing things, and fix bugs, add content, and let players actually play the game, without worrying they are going to be next on your list!

If this line of thinking was expanded to the rest of the game then how about when you kill a mob you can choose to get either the weapon xp used to kill the mob OR choose to harvest it and get the scout xp because you seem to think you should only get one not both as your mainly after one.
While Caliwyrm was there 'mainly' for the resources he also 'needs' the healing xp that is a side bonus.
Healing pets is/was a great way to get healing xp especially if your on an underpopulated server or play in unusual hours (playing in australia here so i can understand that).
Totaly removing all healing xp from pets is a bit much imo
Don't look down on Med Center healing. I've been so busy in Med Centers lately that I can powerlevel up 1-2 boxes a night. I mean, geez, in about 2 weeks you can master CM or Dr. Just find yourself the busiest Med Center on each planet. It'll take some traveling, but once you find one, you won't want to leave.
I also love Med Centers because you meet a lot of interesting people who quickly come to respect you for healing them. And while many don't tip, MANY tip VERY well. I've been averaging $10k/night while I'm leveling. Not bad for just tips.

You're insane. 2-3am EST is the BEGINNING of my normal playing time every night. There are ALWAYS, ALWAYS people around to heal. There is always without exception a group of people at the Tusken Fortress north of Mos Espa during these times, every single night. You're simply in the wrong place and are waiting for people to come to you if you're having so many issues finding people who need healing. Either that or the huge majority of the population of your server lives on the East Coast or in Europe or something.

i repost this from doctor board because a lot of people arent seing how this isnt just hurting medics
take away exp for healing your own pet....that is like healing yourself.
give exp for healing other people's pets....that's the same as healing that other person.
if i had pets i'd be pissed because when im grouped with a medic and my pets are dying, i'd expect them to get healed just like the other melee fighters in the group. but as a medic, i know i'm going to have to start telling people that they are on their own as far as their pet's health goes. that's if i even choose to group with the people using pets. if a group has pets, noone is getting hurt, so i don't have anyone to heal. means i get no exp, why would i waste my time inthis group?
a pet using class makes a choice that they are going to sacrifice their own offensive and defensive skills because they are made to support their pet. which means, the pets HAM is basically an extension of their own. these pet-using people now are doomed to solo forever.
if a pet class joins a group with a medic, they either have to put their pets away, making themselves useless,so the medic will still be able to get exp, or the medic will have to leave because no person will be taking damage anymore.
exp for healing your own pet = bad
exp for healing other pets = needed
worse part about this merfr...SOE doesnt address the real problem...
i swear this nerf came b/c some dev decided to role a medic to heal his other dev buddy's CH pet and realized wow....easy xp..
but what he failed to see that there are already tons of similar exploits like that...easy and endless med xp...
so in actuality, SOE has stopped only 1 in a long line of med xp "exploits"...
what soe should really be doing is thinking...if med xp is this easy to get lets not nerf the ways to get it
but raise the med xp requirements...
rather go after the core agains SOE fails to sees the core issue and goes after one of the exploits...
just like nerfing LOS because mind damage is way too powerful...
do u expect anything different? SOE needs to actually test before going live...
Last heard CH weren't happy bout this because its gonna be a pain to heal their pets, some might involved themselves in battle a bit more now. Sorry, ain't a medic as such, CH may still just stand back and let their pets take the hits *shrug*. They might not just use their pets as tanks now though either.
Whats the reason for saying they still will stand back (as some people are saying), yes, may protect them, but will cost alot to heal their pets up which can be a big downer. They might want a brawler nearby to give their pets a bit of a break, or use their pets as backup for them...
