Thread: A BH just trying to float an idea (very simple medic)
As t0 BH all i can say is i hope they move the current eyeshot/blind state to MBH . Giving everyone else who isnt MBH a baby eyeshot/blind state(that DOES actually cure with blindstate stims). Or like one of hte posters said give the doc the ability to regen abotu 300mind per tick cause im telling u i got hit in theed last night for 700 mind dmg with one eyeshot 2 by a expert BH while he continued to run aroudn the city curing himself and EYeshot 2 everyone in sight, it wasnt a pretty picture.
I just hope they do nerf BH because with eye shot and a well made Stim b or c for that matter they are unstoppable.

It has to do with the fact that right now, being a BH is a complete waste of skill points unless you decide to abuse BH for the PVP ultra template. I outlined this problem in this thread six months ago. It's stillcorrect (except for LLC effectiveness) much to the displeasure of people who want to play real BHing characters. Unless you are a BH, it's hard to understand our situtation because you see how things work in GCW PVP.
How Exactly is BH a Complete Waste of skill points? From where i Sit it looks like a Very effective Way to spend your points...If you want to be a Combat Charicter. Tho, I Will Definitly Grant you that the Bounty Hunting Part of SWG BH's seriously needs alot of work.
You do understand that, as a BH, you DON'T have too PvP...its not a requirement. I was a BH for about a week (On my way to commando, before the New Flamethrower
) So i can understand that you Guys are Frustrated that*Most* ofyour points are tied up in one Profession (Although you don't have to master....this tends to get over looked alot) ....But if You want to Play a Real "BHing Charicter" Medical Skills is not the Thing to waste time Asking for....I Don't Recall Boba and Jango using stimpacks or wraping up a wound....I would be Pushing Much more For More BH Spesific Content, Not For BH to be Even MORE of a "Swiss Army Knife" with Medical tape. Which is also thetype of thingthat you wanted to get away from, If i Understood your "incorrectly portrayed" post (Tho I'll admit, i tend to Skim alot in long posts
)
Also, if you could clarify the last line of your post....Do you me You as in "Bountyhunters" or you as in "Combat Medics" /"Non-Bountyhunters"...me? Heh ![]()

First of all, how are we supposed to get to MBH if we can't climb the investigation tree?
...
I think you are missing the point about BHs because BHs shouldn't be in the GCW like they are now......The whole point of hiring a BH is that they are an independent contractor...The best we can do is put two DOTs on the target and run...The lack of content in this game is another thing...Half-Life is still amazingly popular...As it stands now, this game is so fundamentally flawed...
So, what was in that post that was supposed to support the idea that bounty hunters should be able to heal themselves without medic skills? You pointed out a gob of things that you consider "flaws" in the game, but being able to heal yourself for free isn't going to fix lack of content (or anything else you mentioned).

If you go master Carbineer/master Ranger, you'd have 18 skill points left over, which is just barely enough to get some medic skills. If you go master Bounty Hunter, you'd have 33 skill points left over, which is enough to take plenty of medic skills.
Are you saying that your bounty hunter skills are a waste? That they're not worth anything? Frankly, I'd love it if I could use a lightning cannon or set someone on fire with a pistol. In my opinion, if you want to do things like that, you have to give something else up.
Perhaps, the way it is set up now, some of the bounty hunter required skills are a waste. My guess is that, once most bounty hunters get to rifle 4, they never pick up a rifle again. So that would be 14 skill points that you're getting little benefit from. But, being able to use any weapon is some of the "mystique" of a bounty hunter - they're expert marksmen with any weapon. Maybe asking for bounty hunter missions where you had to use a given weapon would be a good request (like a mission where you'd have to drop your target from 90+m away so you'd have to use a rifle).
But, you're certainly not going to get any support from medics for a couple reasons. Really, it has nothing to do with bounty hunters, per se, but it's something that most medics are pretty upset about. Medics are crafters. Plain and simple. We have to do a gob of crafting to be a competent medic and, in order to make any money, we have to craft medicines for sale. Honestly, if this is what most medics wanted to do with their time, they'd have been artisans. To couple that, we're not even capable of gathering the resources that we need to do our crafting without "wasting" 15 points on Novice Artisan. If you were able to heal yourself on your own, you really would turn medics into a true crafting profession and, like I said earlier, you'd see a mass exodus of medics leaving the field - and they'd probably all become bounty hunters.
I understand what you are saying completely and for the most part I agree. Just a few things.
As for weapon master/ranger combination, I said that you get a lot more value for your skill points that way and you can still get First Aid I. As a BH, our skills are pretty weak once you leave the realm of PvP. The scatter pistol is very nice, I know that. The LLC is way too slow and inaccurate to be used as a primary weapon when you are doing solo PvE and ranged weapon support skils can not be used.
There are too many skill points for BH required for one simple reason. They wanted to keep numbers low. They should have done this through other means, like making the experience requirements insane (how's 250,000 combat XP?).
I think it'd be a better idea to not require camping/trapping/rifle lines and instead require novice medic. But, if you become a novice medic and a BH you would no longer be able to heal other people. This way skill points stay in line and we get a much more useful skill. I think it's pretty obvious that a BH can use healing themselves more than pitching a tent. Most BHs have their own ships anyway therefore don't need tents!

Now that idea makes more sense than anything else I've heard so far. Rather than trying to get other skills for free because they're that important for your profession, maybe you need to take it up with your correspondent to try to get the profession requirements changed. As a bounty hunter tracks people rather than animals, maybe Hunting 4 doesn't make as much sense as First Aid 4.
That's not really my call, though. But this idea at least seems to have some merit.

I figured someone was going to say that.
Seems that alot of BH's are missing the point. To take down your marks you gotta be getting close to master BH.
It's entirely possible to get through Investigation IV without being clonse to master BH.

I also forgot to point out that you can have all of your weapon trees maxed out. Investigation has nothing to dowith how well you fight.
I understand the reasoning for BH’s to want basic Medic skills. However, I do not agree that they should be given to them. The point system is designed to be all about trade-offs. What is more important to the individual?
I am an aspiring Combat Medic/Doctor. My trade-off is weapon combat skills. A Bounty Hunter on the other hand has weapon combat skills. Therefore, their trade off is Medic abilities.
If I want skills that are not in my chosen profession then it’s time I sacrifice a skill or two. I don’t want to give up my pistol. However, If I need the skill points to climb my Medic professions. Then out the window it goes. The same applies to everyone else in the game.
Just my two cents for what it’s worth.
