Thread: Making money through Combat Medic skills
I just made MCM a week or so ago, so am still making my super healing meds and killer poisons, but with what I've already made, have been invited on numerous hunting parties (mostly with either my guild or a friend's guildmembers) to keep them alive. Add the fact that instead of an outside weapons profession I prefer to use the Republic Blaster (great stats, better than a Scout Blaster), and have 3-2-0-0 Creature Handler, to use a Graul Mauler, and Novice BE, and I get invited on a LOT of hunting parties! I kept the BE after making right around a million credits opening weekend of mount-release, having made up a few dozen kaadu's in advance and tamed a few dewbacks, for the reason I now get invited on faction-base-takeover missions, as they need a BE. This way they get their BE to DNA-sequence the Override Terminal, and a Combat Medic to heal their damage, mind and wounds, and a Graul Mauler (or use my Dragonet, a ranged-acid-throwing mean big lizard) to boot.
Not making much money, but have a little in the bank, a medium house for "show" (come visit Norman P. Bates' houseabout 800m N of Moenia on Ahazi), a small one for a workshop (Norman's Workshop and Laboratory) and a small one for the extra 150 items storage (the Bates Motel), a food/chem factory and the rest of my lots in personal harvestors to try to keep up with my resource needs (and, sadly, take about half my playing time tending them). I kept Tissues Engineering in Bio-Engineer to make Pet Vitality packs, which, although low in quality, sell pretty good on the market.
I have not as yet asked for any money up front, but have found myself being tipped a portion of either cash or part of the loot that other people have time to harvest while I'm healing damage and minds in battle, and wounds in the campsite between missions. I have gotten everything from Chuba hides (from those in the party who can't resist shooting everything that moves along the way) to Krayt tissues and Rancor bile as tips, so can't complain too much.
I'm not rich, but I gave up Master Creature Handler and Master Marksman to do healing for the rest of the gang, rather than go up any of the Super-Killer trees, and am not interested in camping out for holo's or even becoming a Jedi, for that matter. I'm where I am happiest, and enjoy playing my role in hunting parties, or even in cantinas giving out (mostly free, unless requested by one of the dancers, who usually offer up to 10K in advance) diseases, and keeping all the band members' actionhealed up if there aren't any up-and-coming medics trying to get xp.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is that money isn't everything if you find what you like best in this game. I have, but not many choose the same path for the same reasons, I'm sure.
(Hmmmm, didn't answer the original question much about how to get rich as a MCM, did I?)

I find that the Combat medic skill can be highly profitable. I am a Master on Lowca and usualy have no trouble finding a hunting party.
I have Pistoleer skills fairly high up so that i can also enjoy the hunt as well as try to keep everyone safe. I took enough Doctor skills so that i can Res, people in the field. If i go to a planet like Dath or any of the the other ones where large parties are gathering, i usualy get alot of offers to join groups.
The more experinced players know and respect us for what we can do, and they like the fact that they dont have to clone. Mostly they will tip me well, over and above the shared loot amout that i am getting, to offset the cost of my meds. If I go with a group that it wasn't profitable for me to go with , then i don't go back out with them again and when they asked why, i tell them why. Not that i am looking to get rich , but since we dont need the xp, we shouln't have to lose credits on it either.
I can solo fairly high mission with just me and my rock beetle ![]()
Hope this helps

I can make a ton of money by mind diseasing in the cantinas... Since entertainers get more xp for healing mind wounds, i can easily make good money on tips... I have made as much as 60-80k in about 30 minutes..... Tips can ranged from 500 to 40000. Yes I actually got a 40k tip. I also have gone the artisan way with a vendor and I sell all poisons, diseases, and advanced medical supplies to anyone who needs them. Many people just want to fight and dont want to waste time with crafting, so I help them out by getting resources and crafting for them. I take requests for certain poisons or diseases if necessary and sell them in crate form. If anyone needs something, come see my vendor on Coronet, Eclipse server. Dont have the waypoin off hand, but if you send an email to God-like I would be happy to send it to you. Also, any requests for meds or CM stuff should also be emailed to me....
Thanks
God-like

Yeah, that's why i became a combat medic.
Hey all im a mcm on farstar and i found a quick way to make money all u need to do if find a commando or tka and offer ur services for hire as we are so **edit** unique in been able to heal all pools
i made 100k on one hire for a hour ( i didnt even ask for 100k )
because we can keep them going they have no need to stop and can keep going and get xp
btw i dunno if any1 else has tried mcm and 4440 of tka but it does rule because u can heal ur mind wounds
quick get around from mind heals also when using poisons u can throw it at ur enemy and as they rush at u in anger they are already on there way to dying ... knockdown attack
and ur the man
would be interesting to hear what other combos people have done

Any poison worth even using will be a level C area poison. AND you have to be a master level combat medic to even use that... so that MCM can craft his own crap anyway. There is no market for combat meds. I've had stims and poisons on my 2nd character's vendor for weeks... no sales.
I don't know about you but I can't keep enough CM stims in my vendor.
Sure it need to be very high level CM to make the good stuff, but CM are more of join the group and go kill something kind of profession than lets spend hours every week to keep track of resource shift and pull and drop harvester, keep hundreds of resources and make sub-components until they pour out of my nose just to supply myself with supply of poison/disease.
Most people CM in my server (Gorath) seem to just buy them from dedicated CM crafter.
My most popular items are strangely enough
Range Stim B
Range Stim E
Area Stim C
Single heal/action poison B
Single Mind poison
Single Mind disease
The most important thing to remember is that CM med use for CM are kinda wacky, so keep mind of CM use level of Novice CM, CM Med used I, II, III, IV and Master and always try to stand on the fence. (5, 20, 35, 50, 75, 100)
I don't know about anyone else, but I've been making a killing lately just sitting around the Cantina. On top of tips from dancers and patrons, there are any number of folks who need services that Combat Medics can provide:
- Image Designers frequently tip for mind damage healing, especially if you keep it up for an extended period of time. Since you're already in a cantina, just let the mind wounds slide off onto the entertainer team.
- Entertainers sometimes tip for mind wounds which give them Wound Healing XP - either use /healmind, /quickheal, etc to wound your own mind, or use a mind disease on the entertainers. Best part is that this can be done for free, so you're not just using up an expensive stim on nothing.
- Other folks in the cantina healing for medical XP frequently ask for diseases on their pets. Considering the cost of disease packs, the relative rarity of combat medics, and the huge benefit provided by these diseases, I've been able to charge up to 5K for a full debuff.
It's not all grey and negative. The cloud has a silver lining, but you've gotta look for it.
