I consider the keypoint of the former post the following : CM and BH are REALLY expensive classes. It takes so many points to master it that we could not do much apart from it.

Consider CH for example... 106 points to master it...

When we master CM, we only have 81 points to spend on anything else. This is the key thing and reason why CM must remain strong.

No the issue is balance...if u have a few strong classes....the game will become lopsided and class balance will disappear...everyone will be a CM or a BH...

do u think its any coincidence that I now get 5 tells a day in game for CM training when i wouldnt even get 5 a week prepatch?

If you haven't heard, the DEVs are not worried with balance between professions, just as it should be.

If YOU think poisons are incredibly powerfull...become a CM, don't scream for NERFS...if you think knockdown is the best thing around, pick a prof. that grants you that. When DEVs talk of balance, they mainly mean fixing things that are broken in a profession that causes it to either not be playable, or not to be fun while playable.

Remeber, CMs are out there...you know they use these weapons...be smart and know how to counter them. and Don't get ambushed.

I agree with the initial post, balancing is one thing, nerfing for the sake of nerfing and making other classes feel more powerful is simply idiotic.

DOTs are not overpowered in PvE. Only Mind DOTs are overpowered in PvP (when was the last time you killed someone in PvP with a Health or Action DOT?). The obvious solution would be to get rid of Mind Diseases/Poisons.

Personally, of course, I would like to see ALL selective mind damage (other than those done by a Riflemen) removed from the game. =P

For those of us who are relatively new... what the heck do TEF and LOS stand for?

I almost feel like I'm reading Shyriiwook on these boards sometimes.

Yesterday a group of smuggler, novice combat medic and BH.

Situation: three declared rebels hang around cantina recruiter Coronet, I am declared coming from port B, going through cantina, AOE action + bleed shot at medic - got KD (not sure from whom, BH or Smuggler), medic started to heal smuggler but died (~600 action : 320 poison tick, ~80 shot attack, 2x 80 bleeds), another prone/disy/something other from healed smuggler, then I am up and running into cantina spamming heal button and immediatly out of it - they rush into cantina, lose LOS and die in doors there.

Action DOT is better against group with medic, he will die faster and will spend time healing.

I would like to prefix my post by saying that I am not a CM. I am however a Master Doctor, so we share many issues.

That out of the way, I do feel that SOME aspects of CM are clearly out of whack after the latest patch. The twobeing LOS, TEF-free attacks, and non-reduced damage in PvP specifically against Mind. If those can be "fixed" I believe the CM profession will pretty much be done and in line with what was intended for the class. In fact, I believe the TEF issue is being fixed in this morning's update.

Now as to the "nerf anyone but us!" crowd I offer this: Tonight with my Master Doc tag on, I was asked by 4 different people if I had med components for sale. Thesepeople were a CH, a Master Artisan/Weaponsmith, a Rifleman, and a Novice TKA. Guess what they were wanting the components for? That's right, they were switching to CM and needed the comps to grind out the xp.

Any time a large portion of an MMORPGs migrates to a specific class it is usually because that class is perceived as "uber" or in the Devs eyes, overpowered. As I told a couple of players on my server who were "original" CMs, "Welcome to the flavor of the month club!"

By using the "full abilities" afforded to you by the clumsy Dev coding of your skills, you became a envied andfeared profession. Now a lot of those players who are, shall we say, "weak" are going to flock to your class and exploit it for all its worth, possibly get it nerfed into oblivion, and then move on to the next flavor of the month profession.

If it were my chosenclass I would much rather seethe skills brought into balance rather than nerfed beyond recognition once the exploits get out of control andevery other combat classis calling for your headson a platter.

But thats just me.

Hi all, first of all i'm a carabineer and combat medic since the first day i enter SWG, chosing those classes for feature they presented... in those days i saw few people going through Medic professions, maybe for the major attractivness of BH or CH or COMMANDO, at the moment i cannot talk about disease or dot poisons as i started crafting then but not maxed profession till now (few hours spent on crafting and much more on the wild searching for good materials)

As Cm i think that nerfing the damage line would bring many people to leave CM profession for the reason that a Doctor would be more usefull to group...

My general opinion is that SOE will nerf by time al classes just toforce people to try new professions, and this sounds like a commercial choice, buton the other way as long as this practice will be overrun people will look at others games (same thing as Daoc, inwhich i had playedfor 1 year and half.

i apologize for my english, but as an italian player i think that i souldn't do better

Ok first off I'm a Master Doctor and almost Master Combat Medic. I haven't PvP'd much and have not used poison so I will not claim to know anything.

I'm just curious why you think that Mind Poison is so overpowering? Is it cause it's unhealable damage?

The Mind pool is prettty much the ONLY thing that the Rifleman goes after. Should that be nerfed or removed?

I agree with the LOS issue and that should be fixed. But to ask that Mind Damage potnetial be removed is very silly.

Just the personal opinion of a humble Mon-Calmari.

I'd also like to know how much mind the people dying to the poison have. Most people are pumping H and A leaving mind low and therefore vulnerable to any and all mind attacks.

I've a question.....I use first aid on my group mates that get a bleed on them. As a novice CM, it takes about 4-5 uses of first aid to stop the bleed now. Doesn't first aid stop all bleeds...including mind? I think the gun toters need to stop being Rambo and realize they aren't invulnerable to everything but a Fire Knockdown and bring medics with them to PvP fights. Bring 1 for every 5 in the group. Hey.....here's an idea....bring a combat medic with you. Until I actually SEE the unreal stories I'm hearing told on this forum, I believe none of it. And I really want to know the tactics the opposing side used to lose all 20 people to a single CM. Must have been something akin to a zerg attack. Welcome to squad based tactics, ladies and gentlemen...please leave your zerg at the door.

Tell you what. Take a one month break off of SWG. Go buy Battlefield:1942 and master every "class" in that game. Join a team. Play matches WITH that team. Then come back and use what you have learned here.

This is for PvP battles....the crap Elenora is pulling should punishable. I don't think it's a code change, but a policy change that needs to be fixed. AOE dot'g people in a cantina or med center at ALL...much less while being outside like a punk....should get you booted for a while. TIMEOUT...now go think about what you've done.

ok a few things that seems to happen in every mmorpg ever is the cry of nerf when you have never even playd the class or understand 1 single thing about it so its my duty to inform the ignorant

1.combat meds (especially poisons and diseases) require a ton of rare hard tog et components making them incredibly hard to make decent versions of and if you want to make them really good you have to max the doc crafting line

2.the los issue appears to be a bug same as shooting throughhills etc. maybe this will be fixxed soon maybe it wont but one day im positive los will be fixxed allmost everygame 3 months after launch has had major los issues

3. poison damage dealing 400 damage in pvp 1st thing thst particular poison requires an ungodly ammount of resources for a few expendable charges and 2nd it deals the same damage in pvp as pve so if anything once the 75% reduction comes into play they should buff poisons since a 400 damage highly resisted dot is worhtless in pve that the equivelent of health shot 2

4. try to do something and contribute info toa class your playing and not screw someone elses leave the medics be im sure you dont want us on your boards crying about eye shot headhsot etc. saying it makes us worhtless because we cant heal mind damage
