I don't see where your coming from with a buff nerf affecting doc's. When buffs do get nerfed people will still want them. It will still be an advantadge to have them.
Sure it wont be the necessity it is now, or maybe it will, depending on the combat balance. Either way, how many docs do you think live off of the sales of their buffs? Maybe 5%,
Please dont get mad at the docs for a mistake made by the devolopers, your barking up the wrong tree.

BTW, I totally disagree with your conclusion that Doctors are self-sufficient. I rely on quite a few other professions to do my job to it's greatest potential:
1) Scouts/Rangers - Sorry, but I'm a Doc, not a hunter. Even after mastering a single ranged or melee profession you still have enough points to bounce between any basic profession and one bar. My fencer/doc farms his own avian and herbivore meat with his scout/hunting1 skill....and saves millions doing it. Can also drop scout and pick up artisan in a heartbeat to survey his own resources.
2) Droid Engineers - Me? Buff in a Medcenter? Pfffft! Droids are an added bonus. The fact that you can use a med center instead of requiring a droid says alot.
3) Chefs - Bivoli good! Fire bad! Bivoli or any other chef food is not required for any pack or skill that doctors have. I just makes buffs larger than what they already are. I still get laughs from cheap bastages who cant deal with 2200 power buffs and complain that I'm not using Biv. freeaking noobs!
4) Tailor - I don't dress like thisfor no reason! Makes your 1800 power buffs become 2k+ buffs.aka an enhancement.
5) BE - "All my skill is in my pants" see above yeah see above
6) Artisan/Architect - Havs, harvs and more harvs. Ok I'll bite on this one. Architect is an essential profession.
7) Every combat class in the game- Ahh, my loyal customers!!!! You can keep your buffs all to yourself and just farm Janta's.
Ekatha Jes, MD/MS
I'm not oblivious to that, but please quote and highlight where I said "Doctors are self-sufficent classes"
Actually it was me they were quoting. My statement still stands.

Perhaps you don't PvP, and don't understand how fluid and dynamic it can get. There are plenty of Docs out there in the GCW, now more than everand for good reason. Having skills such as removing bleeds, dizziness, intimidation, stun and blindness, curingyour insane poisons and diseases, healing massive damage and wounds, REZZING, dragging playersand dousing flames areessentialDURING battle, not afterwards.
I'm also a Master Swordsman, and havebeen MasterPistoleer, Pikeman and TKA, and I'll tell you, Doctors are capable warriors. Combat Medics WERE a broken class from the beginning. Ultimately, because the Devs allowed it, many of you took advantage of a broken class and eventuallydestroyed PvP. As a Doc, I was doing always amazed how such an overpowered class was permitted to exist, alone among classes in the ability to decimate dozens, single-handedly, and then made stronger, publish after publish.
Until of course the Devs heard the cry of the dedicated players who ground their way toJedi, only to get creamed by a medic.
Let the Nerfing commence.
Ekatha, Janta Hunter
I was a dedicated PvPer, I know what a doctor can do, I know how CM's slowly lead to the downfall of PvP. You're not telling me anything I don't know. What I'm saying is doctors shouldn't be those capable warriors that have made them so FOTM, so stay on topic.
These proposed changes could be looked at as a nerf to doctors, but that's not what I'm looking for. Trying to keep all the COMBAT in COMBATmedic and putting Doctors to Doctoring

The Lowdown:
(Forgive my sloppy typing... silly laptops)
Doctors should not be battlefield professionals.
My image of a doctor is the guy who sits in the med center or where-ever tending to battlestricken patients and enhancing the fighters pre-fight. Unfortunatly SOE's image was slightly consistant with that, except they implimented a "Field Doctor" line of the profession, which gave them their PvP skills, and gave doctor a chance to grow as a PvP template.
Currently, Combat medics serve as the Field doctors, keeping opponents at bay with poision/diease, mass healing and range healing, ability to heal mind, dragging etc.. Ability to heal poisions/diease is most effective during COMBAT, as is ability to heal states and fire.
My Theory:
Doctor- Remove the poision/diease/fire/state heal ability from doctor, BUT, keep the ability to craft these heal packs in the doctor crafting tree, making the 2 profession semi-codependent on eachother
CM- Move the ability to heal states/poision/diease/fire into the combat medic speed line, and move the title of Field Doctor from Doc speed line to CM speed line (for the sake of consistancy)
With the new inocculents, CMs will not be the offensive force they used to be, and it will give them an oppurtunity to become that support class they're supposed to be.
Flame me, pick apart this post, whatever. I'm actually looking for comments to possibly revise this and try to get it out there as a possible concept....
wow.....no flame needed...this is pretty much a good idea....but you know what that means....
THERE'S NO WAY IN HELL THE DEVS WOULD DO IT!!

i am not mad at docs. but rotfl'ing when someone else is creamed is never pretty. you just never know which precious body part the nerf bat will hit when it is your turn. who would have thought docs would get area heals? ouch! and meds for virtual immunity to poisons? ouch!
so who really knows what part buffs will play if they are "fixed"
man, that bat smarts! lol

Now all Docs need is a laugh macro to laugh at the CM's gimpness as they spam area cure over their group of rifleman pvp friends.

If this doesn't make sense to anyone... read TH's post about recursive macros in the "In Develpoment" Board

As a MCM/MD I see this fom both sides ... the general feeling I get from reading all these posts is ...
CM .... wait **edit**??? why?? (with all good reasons IMO) CM is ny favorite prof to play and thats the reason I'm still playing.
MD (from what I read on those boards) ... Ha ha we get more and those stupid CMs get ripped .... wait this may not be a good thing but Haha we are so much better.
IMO, there are so many good points posted on the boards. I hope the devs read them. yes, I think they jumped the gun and that CMs are the latest to get the chop. Things was ok till Jedi became BMOC and when they cried about CM it was heard. I think Docs (once they realize what CM had to deal with in combat and now that the pressure will be on them) should have backed their brothers in healing.
I love running in battle healing, cureing, rezing, stiming and whatever else I need to do to keep my group going the extra yard all the while lobbing poisons and putting inefective blaster marks on my targets.
note to all other profs ... how does the saying go..... when they came for the CH, nobody did anything. when they came for the CM, nobody did anything..... but when they came for me .... there was nobody left.
