Thread: Why poisons and diseases are NOT overpowered comparison

Read my post on class modifications and suggestions about disease.. the changes might actually make disease of tactical use in pvp combat.. as opposed to a pointless griefing one.

My thoughts;

Not yours.

Oracle is someone who i have fought a lot.

So if anyone knows that I do not abuse TEF and that I always PvP overt and usually attack overts and TEF coverts, its oracle.

I really dont know why some people find it so hard to apply poison. I can toss a C poison 47m...Thats basically a 47m radius circle of range around me...getting a building or two or a wall between me and my targetsis prettyeasy.

Now maybe I'm just used to playing adot specialist from DAOC and knowing how to use fire and forget weapons, but I dont think I'm really doing anything different from anyone else...jsut give it time and CMs will learn how to use non-LOS to their best advantage...

/Disagree

I can kill in PvP as easy with my Carbine or faction pets as I can with mind poison.

I don't want to hear that Poison are overpowered because they are on PAR.

300-400 every 10 secs

vs. a pistoleer/BH does does damage every...how good is a pistol...oh yeah about 1.3 delay.

poping eyeshot of 250 every 2 secs or less and spamming that. vs. a CM that throws a poison hope it lands else he gets knocked down and is out of the fight.

Yes, poisons are more damaging than bleeds, but bleeds are done by guns that after the bleed is applied they keep shooting so doing 20-40damage a tick per bleed plus 200+ every (gun delay timer here) poisons are still less effect because it's a onetime use per target weapon..now if I could throw 3 mind poisons and have them stack giving 900+ a tick damage in PvP that would be overpowered.

Apollo u also forget the ability of ours to inflict mind damage to a lot of people at one time too...

and it still comes down to the fact that BHs need LOS to dop anything....

Okay I did some moretesting last couple days. I made some new poisons that i get a 50m range on them using exp and advanced bio's I got my tic up to 412 on testing it on my friend, i didn't use mind though hehehe, or it would of killed him. We counted the ticks, with not letting him go incap and just healing him there were overall 5k+ worth of damage. When I let him go incap than healed him there was over a good 5 min wait for the poison to take effect again. Overpowering? Seeing this, yes but wait..... Thinking about what people are saying on the boards and seeing that damage I went pvping. The result? I didn't get to poison anyone at all. I was knocked down and incapped before i could throw any poison, had to heal a couple friends, so had to wait heal another, had to wiat.. okay now i can throw the poison, "you can't do that while incapped" There's a nice little aoe dizzy that goes through walls too if someone standing in the wrong place. Same with the knockdown. Conclusion? You won't be throwing any poisons unless you abuse TEF and they can't attack you or know you are coming, than you can get close enough by a wall to throw your poison. Or a enemy is dumb enough to let you stay on the other wall as a red dot is just plain stupid. TEF BS? Yes. Some of the mind damages i was getting from one person was a 206 bleed, another did 350 mind shot damage. (also note you can stack bleeds, ie bleed 1 and bleed 2)Using our poisons takes mind. Using our heals we can't poison. Overpowering? No. Why? There checks and balanced dealing with us, our heals take up poison "time", it'sa heal. Are we a support class? hell no, no class even really doctors are support. why? Soe gave you the option to spec in dif abilities. A Doc + what ever is in no way a support person, he can shoot, fight, buff himself. Combat medic? Hell no. Again the same thing. Maybe if I hadn't healed my friends I would of gotten a poison off, maybe not. If I hadn't healed my friends I wouldn't be doing a part of my job, no it's not my only job but it is part of my job.

OK fair enuf, multiple targets but think of it this way

Charge Shot 2 = multiple target Knockdown

Action shot 2= small radius AE action bleed

Full Area Auto = multple target shoot

Scatter Shot = hits all stat pools

---------------------------------------------------------------

Carbineer can knock them down. Bleed them and Shoot them..

rinse and repeat and you have a stack of bodies

This entire thread would be invalid if the devs would give medics the oppertunity to heal mind damage (even at a reduce effectiveness of Health/Action.

notice how most of those are BH skills or advanced elite profession skills? maybe poison should be moved up the ladder on CM.

Moving them up wouldn't make a difference. Poisons suck until you get single target Cs (master CM support) or area Cs (master CM).

That's one thing that people are forgetting; those CMs who are kicking the crap out of them are, most likely, masters.

And I don't know who's seen a master pistoleer in action. Area KDs at 65mare not cool. But do I bitch about pistoleer? No, because I know it takes forever to get to master.

actually level A and B poisons are a joke...

eyeshot comes at 2nd box of pistol tree its not that high up...

in defense of the CM, single Cs need at least CM support 4 and AOE Cs need pretty much master CM. Also, the damage we inflict with our poisons is directly linked to the CM effective skill.

Poison and disease are not overpowered...the ability of the CM to inflict mind damage at range without LOS is overpowered...

"notice how most of those are BH skills or advanced elite profession skills? maybe poison should be moved up the ladder on CM. " Um... those ARE master Combat MEdic poisons. The novice CM poisons don't do crap. Read a bit more and come back when you know more before stating something like that. Elenora, I've said this on another post, unless you are using TEF you aren't getting by that wall to poison. As for other skills using walls? BH, Rifleman, if your buddy is in range of the enemy and you are in range of him, he throws an aoe dizzy... than aoe change position, you gonna be on your back. All of this has ZIP to do with our poisons. AGAIN, with having to heal your partners, this damage is agreeable because you are using up time slot to heal or poison. Unless you don't care squat about your bodies? Which I highly doubt as you're a Master doc as well. Also, I'm seeing the enemy do comparable damage to me with like he said eye shot and other mind damagers. Add in faction pet......... Can anyone say AT-ST?

And yeah, I'm kinda curious as to why we have disease. I too feel it's nothing but griefing to use it on a player and it doesn't seem to help at all in pve. Course maybe it's to help those dummys who die and come right back out to attempt to attack you with they're TEF.

The advantage of not having LoS only applies to situations where the CM can find ready obstacles. Most PvP is in cities right now so of course people notice how wonderful it is. If and when combat becomes an open-field affair, this advantage is effectively negated.
