Thread: Why poisons and diseases are NOT overpowered comparison

Khragon, you are wrong. There is no way you can compare poison with common weapons. Its fire-and-forget weapon, you can just mind-poison everyone in range and burst away. They will maybe catch you, maybe not.

Fact is, you dont need to care about your enemys anymore, they are walking dead ...

The way it works, you are owning every melee class ingame badly. There is no way they can counter poisons, except pick up doctor skill. And there is no way they can catch you. Its not just ranged vs. melee, its much worse.

Knockdown spammed me to death . Resisted 2 poisons... 5mins later i redclared and a bounty hunter came by. I again threw 3 poison's on him and all 3 resists. I was eyeshotted to death/blind. Ieven got the jump on him.

People say poison's are overpowered because of the mind damage. People know that health/action poisons are worthless.

Action Health poison's are easily healable by any master medic using stimpack d's..Please remember we are talking about a class with an invested 169 points. That's an ELITE PROFESSION.. This is the char that should be competing with the bh's, commando's (bad example cuz they suck, csr said so in /say today in game.. didn't ss it) .

And how is that tactic any worse then being knockdown spammed or dizzied to death? I cant counter KD or dizzying, so how is my tactic and worse then theirs?

its worse becouse you dont need to stay there and kill your target, and maybe get incap by other enemys.

How is that one:
- bring a house between you and your target.
- get your target poisoned.
- run circles around the house and enjoy his screams.

or another one:
- you see 5 enemys at shuttleport
- burst run inside range of your poison packs
- apply AE mind poison
- run away

Almost 100% success ration without any danger. Desease is another story...

How is poisoning someone and running any worse then someone standing over me and spamming KD or dizzy on me as I lay helpless? If I use poison and run they cant do anything about it. If someone uses dizzy on me or continual KD theres nothing I can do about it, so Ill ask again, how is poison worse then KD or dizzying? Your argument thas no bearing, you are saying one is worse then the other, meanwhile all 3 have the same outcome.

To all of those that are crying nerf for CM? Do you have any other suggestions as to what will be our offensive weapon if we cant use poison/disease or if they nerf the heck out of it? I just dont want to be a pure healer class. Exactly the reason why im 1 Box from Master CM and not mastering Doc.

i had a number of suggestions...

1) backload damage not front loadit...make it truely damage over tie with damage ramping up from 20% first tic to 100% 5 tics into the poison...

2) keep non-LOS and reduce the amount of damage mind poisons does to about 1/2 of what it is...no one is hitting for 400-500 mind damage on single targets right now in pvp...doing 200-250 damage in pvp without LOS is still extremely powerful. BHs do that much and need LOS....

3) keep damage the same but make it LOS. THis would work i guess but still i can get in and drop a mind dot and still get out of range and undercover pretty quick.

4) have SOE just revamp mind damage...

5) leave dots as is now, but give doctors more effective cures and AOE cure packs

I want us to be offensive not overpowering

My suggestion would be to remove all selective Mind damaging abilities (poisons, diseases, bleeds, selected attacks, etc...) from all classes other than the Rifleman.

As was stated in previous posts, our Health and Action poisons are not overpowering. If MInd Poisons/Diseases were removed, we can keep non-LOS targeting, keep (and maybe even increase!) the potency and damage of our chemical weapons, anddoctors can keep their existing schematics rather than get new (and potentially imbalancing) schematics. Let's face it, our CM poisons are still a bit weak for PvE.

i would fully support taking out mind damage for all classes except rifleman...

keep random hits to mind in since that would be the equivilent of the lucky shot or crit hit

but give rifleman and only rifleman the ability to target mind...

I agree...the only thing that really needs to be fixed with poison/disease is the TEF issue. I've been on the receiving end of poison and don't mind dying, it's just the little @$^&* just sits there grinning afterwards, and i can't do squat to her.

------------------------
The only Combat Medic who seems to be trying to call for a nerf on mind damage is a heavy exploiter of the non-LOS problem
------------------------

Exploit is using a bug to gain unfare advantage.
LOS is NOT a bug.

is exploit and should be appealed.

Mind Poison without LOS is overpowered, if you do not use it - you can't possibly understand why people are complaining about Combat Medics.
Some of us know how to use it,took out groups of people with it, and understand frustration of people who are getting killed by it - so instead of being blind and receiving HUGE hit by SOE we preffer to come out and say - yes that needs looking into.
Not any poison, not LOS specificly, this specific issue - mind poison without LOS.

And if have any doubts - create novice marksman on Chilastra and come duel me or watch me play - I hang around OVERT in Coronet.

Some tips:
- Hang around bank (you can get out of multiple LOS quicky there)
- After applying poison - run around corner
- If you attacking BH/smuggler - apply action poison - he won't spam KD
- If multiple people aproaching you - run towards brawler and through him, he will not be able to knockdown
- Sometimes healing yourself is better then throwing poison
- If you fight a group with doctor - throw action AOE poison first to keep him busy, then 10sec later when they all bunched up for heals - throw mind AOE over them

seems i am the only one who think combat medics are not supposed to be heavy offensive, as they are at the moment.
Sure, i see the "combat" in "combat medic", but this profession offers the most offensive power at the moment, and heavy defensive with great heals.

Still dont belive me CM beeing "a bit" too strong and want some proof? You can have it
Keep your eyes open next days/weeks, you will see more and more new CM´s around. They will not start this profession becouse its in-line with other. They will start it becouse its easy to get (you know its true, healing professions are really easy to level up, except crafting a bit) and becouse its very powerfull.

However, it will not stay this way. My post will not change it, and yours will not change it too. Look at TKA and CH borads, you will see the future of your board over there.

btw, no offense intendet, just truth as i see it.

Hehe I think I remember Khargon... he was on the other end of one of my mind poisons in Anchorhead... or maybe it was Coronet, or both. Either way it was fun, I think you landed a health one on me, and it was interesting cause it was the first time id been hit with one before.

I think duration might be a bit to long on the poison though, it seems like it can last over 10 minutes
