Thread: Why poisons and diseases are NOT overpowered comparison

After 3 days of intense PvsP, here's my evaluation of poisons and diseases compared to other combat skills.

First off ill say..diseases is not a PvsP tool. I find these to be more of a griefing tool, using disease on an opponent wont win you the fight, but you can feel good if you die knowing you landed one on them.

I want to compare Poison to other combat skills. The top poison damage Ive seen is 300ish. 300 per tick, 8-10 seconds per tick. So to kill someone with 1000 health, looking at ~4 ticks needed. Thats anywhere between 32-40 seconds to kill them. Lets compare:

Eyeshot - spammable and can still do even with 75% damage reduction ~250 damage per shot. I died to this in 10 seconds this weekend...whereas our poisons take 30-40 seconds.

Knockdowns - still spammable, especially by those who can self heal. Crippling attack. I died to this once this weekend and once I was down, I never got back up.

Dizzy - Leaves you completely helpless for 20 seconds as you get the crap beat out of you on the ground. First they knock you down so they do 50% more damage to you, then you are dizzy for 20 seconds. You die before dizzy comes off, and if it does, they just do it again.

Now this is just 3 other combat skills which totally overshadow ours. If SOE fixes the TEF issue with poisons and diseases, I believe they do NOT require any other additional nerfs or changes. Compared to these 3 skills I listed, ours are in fact underpowered abilities.

This isnt a complaint that I died a few times this weekend, in fact I killed about 20 rebels for every 1 time I died. I also had a great time playing. Our poisons dont cripple players, they still have 30-40 seconds to retaliate and take us out whereas knockdowns and dizzying completly cripple you.Point is, coming here to complain about CM poisons as needing nerfing while far more overpowered skills are out there IMO doesnt make sense

After using poisons as a Master CM for a while now, I totally agree with this. Other classes have attacks that are just as powerful as poison and can actually take people down faster. As statedm dizzy is the perfect example. Once they knock you down and dizzy you, there is absolutely nothing you can do, not even heal yourself. Poisons are really the only thing putting "combat" in us combat medics. Fix the TEF issue and that is all that needs to be changed.

I think that both the disease and the poison will come into effect more on the battlefield, than in the raids on towns.

When the sides have come together formally with turrets and installations to have a serious battle, then CM will be a serious force on the battlefield.

In my limited experience so far with PvP, in town raids, they are essentially numerous 1v1 fights going on at once, and the 1v1 PvP attacks of the combat classes are still superior.

In city fights, I can lose as a CM...walls, buildings, terminals all = cover

that means i can toss out dots without people getting close...

I will do more damage then a BH because played right, BHs wont ever see me...

Disease isnt going anywhere neither is poison. Good to make friends with Doctors I believe people are more frustrated by disease and poison because they cant do anything about it unless they are doctors. But hey, I cant do anything about dizzy or knockdown spam so guess we are even

The top poison damage Ive seen is 300ish. 300 per tick, 8-10 seconds per tick. So to kill someone with 1000 health, ...
------------

#1 If it's regular poison (not area) - get better poison. 300 is too low, even with bad resources you should have it in 400th.
#2 If someone has 1000 health - use a mind poison at him. I always carry Action and Mind dots with me and choise which one to use based on which bar is shortest, and very few characters have 1000 in HAM (at least I am yet to find one), ususally one of the bars is less then 800 - so you only need 2 ticks.
#3 When comparing damage (and DPS) - factor in AOE. Even against 2 opponents master CM DPS is already better then almost any class in game, try calculating it for 4 (or 10) people.

If I tried I know I can raise my poisons higher, I just havent exhausted myself in trying to get the best resources to do so. Mine do 300+, im happy with that, its still a 3-4 tick kill eitehr way. Im not saying we cant get them over 300.

I carry almost every type of poison I can and a few diseases. Areas and single targets. I do the same, when i click my target, I choose their weakest HAM bar and thats the poison I use

Point 3 I disagree. If I hit 10 people with AOE poison, thats 10 people trying to kill me back, if they dont, they have issues. True, my accumulated damage on 10 people beats all of their damage, but again thats 10 people who should now be attacking me as well....or in other words, my odds of survival are 10 X less.

Tasha- I'll still confused on how u can keep telling me I cant get close to people without using TEF exploits the fact is I run overt and i take out overts...there is no TEF issue...
