Or I should say, hologrinding phase has finally "ended" but a new evil is about to be born.

Don't kid yourself though - if they reduce our damage by 75%, in 2 weeks you will see armies of riflemen/doctorsinstead of combat medics. PvP will be just as boring for the majority of professions. The real problem is not combat medic damage and it never has been. The real problem is mind damage in general. In the era of 80% composite, 2500 strength buffs, and 450 power Stim-Bs, nothing else matters in PvP except mind damage.

Well, I guess it's time to toss my $0.02 in here. I just made Master CM, so I'm not too stoked for or against the fixes, but I want to point out something I've noticed.

IMHO, CM is a support profession. We're not meant to take down the Rebs or Imps ourselves, but instead make the opposing team think twice about what they are doing as the tanks lay into them. Now, for people that specialize in PvP, the 75% reduction on poisons and health mean little to them as they are pretty stacked defensively anyway. It doesn't matter if the PvPer cannot get more than a 25% heal because he/she/it is unlikely to sustain enough damage where it will matter because of resistances (and if they do, they've generally become a corpse). What matters is being able to resist the poison/disease attacks making it necessary for a decent heal to happen.

I'm completely in favor of balancing CM and have no problems running away as the TK Master is bearing down on me. But, if you take away the few edges a CM has competely, the profession simply isn't worth the time and the game becomes a birthing ground for nothing except PvPers which can in turn reduce players/accounts on the game. I'm playing this because I'm a Star Wars nut and am excited every time I run around on "Corellia".

Also consider....it's not very easy for Wookiees to stack defenses because of the lack of variety in armor. But we shouldn't be wearing armor anyway. I look like a walking hamper when I have to wear it. Then again, you don't see many Wookiees in PvP either, do you?

Ok, I'm done. Let the flaming commence.

Iconic professions. Ok. Chewbacca was a Scout. How come that didn't stay?

When you think about it, aren't almost all of the original professions iconic? You can find something on each of them in the Expanded Universe.

I miss being a Ranger. It was more than a profession, it was a virtual way of life. It wasn't for everyone. But those who took it up became family.

While I am sure to get flamed by BHs and such, remember this, I have 200k XP and my FRS points riding on the line, they have 5% reduction in armor from cloning and that is it. Who has the greatest risk?

Personally I could care less if you get jumped by 10+ players and the risk is greater to a Jedi like yourself. Your comments have nothing to do with the discussion and are nothing but worthless trolling. This is not the Jedi forum this is the CM forum.

Not worthless. He has a good point. The CM is a battlefield equalizer, as it should be.

no, wait, i saw this game... "pong" i think it was called. it was really easy to understand! maybe you could make swg more like pong! think of it! fast paced action! iconic characters! MORE FUN!

quick question

this "core group of cms" that you all speak so highly of... are those the guys that where the first cms on your servers? the guys who owned the crap out of everyone and were godly elite before anyone else figured out cm was the win? the same group of guys who are now pissed that everyone has their godly profession?

sounds like envy

so far the only good argument i see against a 75% reduction is "our dps in pve will be too low"

1. how about a 75% PVP ONLY reduction... like everyone else. yah...

2. who the **edit** cares about your pve dps, you are a healing class with limited offensive capabilities. you shouldnt be outdamaging pistoleers for loot.

pretty impressive "limited offensive capabilities" -- rather like chemical and biological weapons. oh, they ARE chemical and biological weapons. nm

ok random bs that thunderheart spews to make people think the devs are doing something does not count as proof that you should outdamage pistoleers in pve

chemical and biological weapons should at least equal, and really should exceed, damage done by more conventional weapon types, i.e., pistols? sure they should!

Lol, the statement "outdamages pistoleers in PvE" is such a blanket statement.

If we choose an Ancient Krayt Dragon, I'm pretty sure that my poison/disease will outdamage even a Master Pistoleer spamming Fanshot or Stopping shot constantly with a DX2 or DE-10.

If we choose a Kunga Warrior (vulnerable to heat), and you use your FWG5, and I toss the same poison and disease...the pistoleer will completely outdamage me. I might get one tick off...if I'm lucky.

You cannot compare one profession to another as a blanket. Each profession has strengths and weaknesses that others do not. Combat Medics are unique in that our damage is universal, regardless of the mob. It would be interesting to see some of the high-end mobs have poison/disease reduction modifiers...where they take 10, 20, or 50% of the normal poison/disease damage.

That being said, please don't complain about CMs outdamaing pistoleers. Sometimes we will, sometimes we won't. In the long run, we've put more skillpoints into CM than you have into Pistoleer....so we *should* outdamage you in certain situations.

well then, should a combat medic outdamage a pistoleer in pvp??

a chemical weapon, used on an unprotected opponent, should inflict more damage than a ranged weapon used on a protected (armored) opponent. a rebreather (in lieu of a helmet) would be a reasonable armor equivalent.

Those probably aren't enhanced. My standard cure C packs are 580 base power (so 1160 actual curing ability). This is using flowers that are only 78% of ideal and inert gas that is 98% of ideal. Had I had good organic data from day 1, I suspect I would be breaking 600 with better flowers.

My standard580 power cure in the hands of a master doc will cure my standard non-loot 12-point area poison C (460 tick) and single poison C (600 tick) in a single shot with 100 to curing ability to spare.

You must have some exceptionally good resources for Advanced Liquid Suspension and Adv Chem, considering majority of the effeciveness isderived from Adv LS and Adv CRDM's power rating.

190 power ALS (very good), 12 power ABEC (not so good - 10 point doc showing), and ACDRMs aren't used. I just verified that the last batch was 583 power (at a natural 90 med use for the doc dabblers out there). I just started cooking a batch of 293 power A cures.

You sure you don't mean 1k+ every 10 seconds? The reason I ask is, well, poisons only tick every 10 seconds. Now, I have seen regular off-the-shelf stuff ticking for 2k+ every 10 seconds on someone's mind when applied and stacked properly. Man, it just nasty to watch, or fun, depending upon which side you are on! That, and you have the old Mind Disease on top of that. Good times.
