Any of you who feel that /citywarn would not be abused if it was returned to the game need to review what a small change such as increasing the spawn time on Nyax has done to the community.

No one's interested in playing 'fair' or getting along with anyone else, they're out for as much as they can get and damn the rest of the playerbase. I'm personally glad such a powerful tool as /citywarn is out of their hands.

Just accept that it's gone and move on for Pete's sake.

We know its gone and why. The discussion here is how could it be brought back in a form that cannot be used for grieving.

We lost a valuable tool

You see, Thats where you are wrong. I know many people on Tarq that are here to "Enjoy" the experience of this game. There are always those that will be jerks. And thats exactly why city warn is needed. So we dont have to tolerate their childish behaviors.

If someone wants to make a city and call it scum of the earth and everyone gets banned from and /warnned whats wrong with that. Only people allowed into the city are BH's, Smugglers and entertainers.

I would love a city like that!

so much roleplaying potential

If a city abuses the system people will stop going their.

and if it is near a POI and your to lazy to drive. get some people together and make another city near it that does not /warn.

If a poisonous snake is dropped on top of you from a gyrocopter, don’t freak out and shoot your own driver with your arrow gun, making the vehicle lose control and blow up. Its probably just as scared as you are.

It comes down to belief. I believe that player cities, while created by players, are for players and not just the ones that brought it into being. I believe this because there are a finite number of cities that can be created, as well as size limits. Cities are not faction bases, nor are they guild halls.

Also, if a thing can be abused and exploited, it will be. Any /ban or /warn that can be used to rid a city of a pain-in-the-butt griefer can also be used to grief. Saying it needs to come back is one thing, but no one has seen fit to give idea's on how it can be returned without griefing...

You want to ban someone from using city services, fine, but making someone attackable is not. What happens if my city ban's my best customer? Or my buddy? My city has warnings about having equiped weapons, but I have to equip a weapon to get good missions from the terminals?

I still believe that a system is already in place to prevent punks from causing problems, and its /addignore.

Some people believe differently. Its unfortuante that they are wrong, but I will respect their right to have a wrong opinion .

There is a guild on Flurry that has over 300 memebrs last i heard and they comprise their entire city just about. They also have bases and shops. So the city is both a military base and a massive guild hall essentaily. (I speak of corriban for those who know of it).

You seem to think addignore salves lots of things, but it just masks the problem, it doesnt gett em ouuta town.

You sir have present no facts that citywarn is evil, just your opinions and generizations of what happened. Yes people greifed, i my self was killed a few times while shuttling in. But the number of times iv seen it used for good more than makes up for it IMO.

As a mayor of a city i have to say.

Bring it Back. You are all whining about being griefed. Get over it!!!!. there is no griefing involved. The way i see itis you have a choice to enter a city and possably be attacked or not. Granted the 30 timer was too short. i agree with that. buut to remove the only power to police my city. the same day the 2 min timer hit is sad. Didn't even get a chance to see how. it worked. The devs as usual cater to the whiners.

Everytime you enter a Npc city you know that you can be attacked whether by Thugs or bad faction. it don't matter. You are making a choice to enter that city knowing that an attack is possable. and you enter anyway. The same rule applys with the cutywarn as well. There is a chance you may be attacked.

If you are attacked you know that this particular city is not safe and you don't come back. Now in regards to the POI crap. Don't be Lazy. I have yet to see a POI that i cannot get too because a city is too close too it. You have a speeder . so use it. so it takes you an extra 5 min to get there big deal. don't be lazy.

So yea i want the Citywarn back. And at least a 2 min to 4 min timer. If someone can't leave within that time then its there own fault for being slow. Its Not griefing!!!

I just thought of a good way to bring it back!

Only allow cities with the Stronghold Specialization to beable to use /citywarn

This would make only the people who really want to defend there city use it. all the people who want the research or medical speicialzation would not use it.

Just got to thinking what if they put back city warn but only allowed cities with Stronghold Specialization to be able to have that ability.

hehe, I just finally got our city stated, and was reading the holo about it. Was all excited about /citywarn. There are always ppl that seem to get more enjoyment from bothering others. I thought this was a great counter measure. To bad I missed out on when this was working . I can see how might be abused, but still like the general idea of it.
