A bit of a hijack, but just thought I'd pass along some info. Currently, factory time for anything is 8 seconds * base complexity; the number of resources used isn't a factor. This update is supposed to reduce factory time, I'm not sure if it's going to be by changing the 8s multiplier in food/chem factories (which would also effect BEs and Docs)or by reducing the complexity of food items (which would probably change whether you need a generic tool, specialized tool, specialized + public station, or specialized + private station).
As long as the container complexity is kept below that of drinks, your argument still holds, although maybe not as drastically.

They are lowering the complexity of food items...they say they are lowering it by a lot. I don't know how this will effect if you need a specialized tool or not, but I am expecting it will remain the same.

Well the reason I threw that in is that as far as I'd noticed, the crafting requirements (tool type, station type) are tied directly to the complexity. Off the top of my head, I think it was something like:
Complexity< 10: Generic crafting tool
10 <= Complexity < 20: Specialized tool
20<= Complexity < 25: Specialized tool + Public station
Complexity > 25: Specialized tool + private station.
So I was thinking that lowering the complexity would ease the requirements. It's entirely possible that the schematic explicitly states the requirement, instead of using the complexity number to look it up, meaning nothing would change.
Why make a crate of 25 when you can make 1 with the same number of uses?
Hopefully the containers will have a large range of uses to facilitate that.
Doesn't this completely kill the whole concept of grinding Ithorian Mists?

The biggest chef problem is 18 different organic resources(not counting creature harvests or water vapor) on 10 different planets, with 3-4 stats affecting the quality of the product. Minerals, gases, petrochemicals...only one set appears on any and all of the planet.
THIS IS WAY MORE COMPLICATED THAN ANY OTHER CRAFTING PROFESSION.
Mine-able organics need to be greatly simplified byremoving their planetary-specific properties.

Are you kidding? Even for something as specific as domesticated rice, we have 10 resources to choose from. This makes it much less likely we get stuck with a "dud" resource for a shift.
Ok, granted, it does take some dedicated travel if you want the best (and having www.swgcraft.com handy), but I like the variety. We've never had the problem weaponsmiths on one of the servers(kauri, maybe?) have hadwhere some gemstone type has never spawned since launch, so no one has ever been able to make a T21.

I like the fact that we get a TON of new floras to choose from each week on many planets. It seems like we always have atleast 1 or 2 sometimes 3 florasout therewith stats of PE/OQ/FL = +2200.

I don't think this is easier or more difficult than other professions. Having to find the best ingredients is not a matter of patience, it's time taken to search everywhere. That's just as much of a pain as waiting for weeks for the perfect spawn. I absolutely agree that it's different. Different and somewhat unique. Even though it's basically the same as architech
Sly, it sounds like he'd want to buy Keg schematics from you (you being a Master who has the draft schematic, him being an up-and-coming bartender who wants to improve his product), which sounds like a fair arrangement.

I don't think so since he is a master chef. So I say againwhat good would one master chef buying schematics from another master chef do?
