Thread: Would this chef/BE arrangement be fair?
If any of you are on starsider just hit my vendor at -651 1179 (2km south of Keren based on beatiful Naboo lake!) I'm selling them for 38k for the medium nutrients. I've been using the same formula I did for tailors tissues before the patch so theres no gouging or price raising here.
Enjoy.

I shake my head in disbelief that you really believe your skills to make schematics are worth a pittance, that it's all about resources and you couldn't care less about destroying the market by dumping schematics on it.
Honestly.. I really do. Its not the fact that someone took a day or two and grinded the profession. Some people take longer most don't. The time to make it is where the money is earned not the time it takes to piece together a schematic. Those 6-7 factory runs to make that 20-40 crate run of drinks is where people should get paid. Its the dealings, forum messages, surveying for resources, moving harvesters around, worrying about power to feed them, checking swgcraft while at work just to plan that nights activiites.. this is where the money is earned. Do people ask for schematics from a Chef? Hell no.. who wants to go thru that pain? Maybe for some food items but certainly not for drinks now. Do Chef's ask BE's for schematics? Hell yes. Its one schem.. the chef provides the resources. Do I believe that most BE's would gladly accept 100k for there schematic? Yes.100%of the time so far that I've seen on my server. There are some BE's that want to do it themselves. Thats great! They should charge 50k a crate or whatever they feel is necessary. I'm just saying.. and only saying... that to charge more for a schematic is a rip off when your not providing the time it takes to do everything else involved. Does anyone else see what I'm saying? Is there any truth in this?

I have asked 2 chefs now for a schematic using my own subcomponents and resourses...along with a sizable chunk of credits... I was refused both times... Infact i even offered free bio schems to one of the chefs and still got a no. So it works both ways... Chefs dont want tosell a 1k schem cause they know the REAL value of it... just like a bio doesnt want to give cheap nutrient schems... cause they know the VALUE of it... Value has nothing to do with the cost nor time to produce but has everything to do with the

Fact is a chef could pay 100k per crate and still increase profits overnon bioequivalent.Everybody wins! but no one seems able to grasp this...

I have also asked chefs for schematics and have been turned down. The explination given to me was that it cut into their profits and ability to sell products if they made schematics for everyone. So you seem to be wanting every other profession to make schematics for you guys but yet you guys are unwilling to make schematics for others(again this is a generalization and does not apply to all players in stated professions). The offer I made the chef by the way was 200k for the schematics, I would use all my own resources and factories all the chef needed to do was slap together a few schematics.
Once again let me clear this up to prevent any un-necessary flames.I understand and respect the chefs right to not make schematics due to the effect it has on their market. I simply think they should expect to get the same treatment in return. We have many different master professions in our PA(now a chef too) and we can work together very well. We trade resources all the time and help each other gather what is needed when special resources appear. It is very possible to work together if you have established relationships with other professionals. If we need something in our PA we simply ask for it and most of the time it is provided for little to no cost and we expect the same in return.

It's not the same thing. BE's make a sub-component for a component that can be added into almost any Chef product. The tissue schematics we buy are not the final product, we don't make a living by selling them, we use them in our items. I don't go to weaponsmiths or architects and ask for harvester/weapon schematics, because I'm a chef. I make foods and drinks and that's all I should be concerned with. Now if chefs could make components for some other professions OWN product, I would gladly sell them schematics for a moderate fee. Why? Because it saves my factory time for other things and it would also be cheaper for the customer AND crafting professions are made to be somewhat dependant on each others. Unfortunately(or fortunately, depends how you look at it) nobody needs chefs....
So in a nutshell :
1. sub-component != final product
2. BEs/tailors don't have any use for chef items in their own products, chefs however have good use for additives/trims
I'm thinking that this issue will work itself out once the wild prices for brandy settle down. After a revamp like this one everything is naturally in flux. Eventually prices will standardize to some extent between chefs and servers, (not completely, but more so than now probably). Once this happens and people realize it has happened, it will be a lot easier to set a reasonable price expectation on services. People will naturally still want to grab as big a piece of the pie as possible, but I'm willing to bet the really hard feelings we are seeing now will largely fade into the woodwork.
5 pages of this LOL ![]()
I make no chef tissues. This is a video game and I'm paying to have fun. Making animals is infinitely more fun and I make much more money doing it. If a chef asks me for tissues I tell them I make schematics.
I sell those schematics. They are never free. It may only take me a couple of minutes to make that schematic but I'm not selling my time. I'm selling my skill. I took a lot of time and money to get to master BE. I'm not just going to give that skill away for free.
I read a number of posts that said this whole controversy will make chefs pick up BE. Good luck with that one. You need a branch in medic, a branch in scout, then to make the high end tissues you'll need two branches in BE. That's a lot of skill points.
What I can see actually happening is the BE's taking up chef. Most of them already have artisan so they can use a vendor. I'm working on doing this right now myself ![]()

Well, you need two branches in Chef as well, but don't forget what a Chef needs for production comapred to a BE. You will need to harvest Flora, Gemstone, Meat, Milk, Gas, and of course you will need to pick up some tailor for Trim.
