Thread: Poll: Should Changes Stay or Should They Go?

Reading here makes me nervous. I don't go to TS, so i can't makea true determination based on my own experience. But, given what has been said here by people who play chefs [as opposed to the Devs, who most certainly don't], i give the benefit to the experienced people, and say, either hold off until the HAM revamp, or dump this and start from scratch with input from people who are in the know.

Dammit, I was so looking forward to this....

The changes should go, I put off reading about them cause I knew they would mess chef up. Now that I have I wish I would have not taken my head out of the sand

Honestly?

I'd love to see the entire chef revamp sit in test center for 2 more months. I'd like to see this A, thoroughly tested, and B, rolled out at the END of the combat pass.

The stomach size is a wonderful idea, it adds realism. To a Game. And makes chef buffs the only buff in the game that may run out and not be rebuffed immediately. At present time, I don't have any solutions.

Experience. If foods only give 21 experience each, that means factories will net 2 each, and uxp will be an amazing 10. If the experience per food drops this drastically, the experience required to advance ranks should also be dropped. We would have to craft more items to get 2 tier boxes than an image designer would have /image to get to master from novice. Or for an architect to get from master to novice.

Pet Buffs. When did I turn from a gourmet chef into a dog food manufacturer. I'm sorry, but I see no reason why these wonderful pet buffs can't just be shifted over the BE profession. We are Bartenders. We are Iron Chefs. We are Bakers. Tell me what profession there actually makes pet food intentionally.

Containers. This seems like a great idea, bad execution. Medics and Doctors have had to deal with subcomponents that add charges since launch in the form of Bio Effect Controllers and Advanced Bio Effect controllers. Perhaps you should be looking for inspiration here. Again, it's a nice nod to realism. In a Game.

Menu. Probably the most significant in my eyes. Yes, there are some really innovative ideas in here. Yes, many more are potentially useful, if not novel. I, for one, like that we, as a profession, specialize in localized buffs. That with the right choice of foods, you can survive in the field without first getting enhanced by a doctor. We are already in a position where we need to stock so many resource types as to be unwieldy. I believe the mantra we were chanting was more useful. I personally was chanting simplicity.

Dear lord, as iterations pass in this game it becomes more and more complex without increasing the level of depth. I just don't understand why we keep increasing the learning curve for new players.

So to summarize?

Keep the fundamental chef changes out of this publish. There really is a lot of good stuff here, I'd feel more comfortable with more community feedback and testing. And please, for the love, don't implement changes based on how something will be, which is what it seems the menu is balanced towards.

Very much in favour

I am a power-gamer at heart and I'm actually quite surprised that people are not seeing how much potential there is in the new foods

As a Master Chef by choice, I have concerns about this revamp. Iunderstand it is to work well with a new combat HAM system, which means it may not work well with the current system.

I have a little coding experience, could we not have 'both' systems until the combat system goes live.

I know some foods have the same names, but different schematics. To identify the two foods, make one Boh(old) and Boh(new). This will require a simple addition of a few letters to the identifying name, allowing us chefs to make both, place both on vendors, let the player community determine which are good, bad, or so-so.

Currently, I do not use any bio enhancements, as I run factory crates on all foods. The underlying problem is the need for insanely large quantities of the same type to make full runs. Recently, I used 30,000 carnivore meat on a single factory run of Bivoli.

When talking to some Bio-engineers, they have difficulty obtaining enough same materials to run factory crates, so I can only hand craft with the components provided.

The patch is supposed to increase milk and other needed materials.. great, we need it.

The patch is going to require the chefs to determine a new market for our new foods...ok, we will survive.

The patch is going to hurt chefs for 2 or more months, as the market we find under the old HAM system will probably change with the new HAM system.

Don't fight with us, help us. I would love to spend hours a day on test center, just give us a Charactor Copy ability, and I will help. Wait, Char copy not available.. ok.. then do the next best thing, give us both schematics on live servers. Let us 'beta test' on live servers once more, then after adequate time to determine the long range effects, tweak the live servers.

Don't break us now, giving new schematics for a new HAM system, give us additional schematics, give us adequate time to develop a market for new foods, and when the new HAM system goes live, then, and only then, remove the old schematics.

i can understand why chefs want some new stuff, but those of you who are not combat classes dont rrealize how much we rely on these. I play late at night and early morning, i cant find entertainers all the time to buff, plus who wants to wait for so long for an entertainer buff. I'm a rifleman and without food as the way it is, i can only use 4-5 headshots without losing all my pool points, not good.

enjoy your terrain negotiating food, incapp reduction time, trade negotiation food....i wont pay 120k a crate for this stuff like i do now for good BOH(if i buy any of this stuff, 90% of it looks useless and is just a novelty)

hope you chefs enjoy beingPOOR again, cause that's what's going to happen...mark my words, you'll only sell a handful of most of these foods, instead of supporting my local chef, looks like i will be befriending some entertainers who play late/early. If i'm unable to do that, guess i'll log off and play something else, i have 10 days after the chef patch to decide if i'm going to renew my account. Who knows when the combat patch will come, as it is, this new patch will make me unable to kill anything more than meatlumps, and that is totally unacceptable.

THANKS DEVS!!!

SHELVE IT UNTIL THE COMBAT PATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

looks like they're making the chef as useless as itwas in the first few monthsof release......

4-5 headshots? Good lord you need to use stat migration in a big way. I'm novice rifleman and without buffing I can probably headshot 2 10-15 times with my unsliced laser rifle before I need a break.

/ontopic

Why are people so scared of change? Oooo now you'll have to figure out what sells well again. Personally I think the current buffs are WAY overpowered. When is the last time (in real life) you've eaten something that, for the next 363 seconds, improved your stats 300%? Tone down the buffs, and in my opinion you'll have a much more realistic environment.

That being said, it doesn not make sense to reduce the chef buffs while keeping other buffing skills/objects still in place. I would have aimed to implement the new HAM system and change buffs or at the very least changed all buffs at the same time. To be fair if you nerf one you should nerf them all.

Did you mention that you saw people with horns, lots of hair, fish faces, tentacles on their heads, and dog faces?

Please keep the changes on test until they are either balanced correctly, or the new combat system makes them balanced.

well, entertainer/doctor buffs cant be found always, plus, if you die you lose it. So, if i want to go into combat again after death, i have to take a shuttle to coronet or theed to get buffed again instead of rejoining my group from the nearest clone center? adding 30+ minutes(between shuttle wait and buff time for dancer, and possible missed shuttles)to my down time? I would rather take the temp buff from food and get back fighting.

but the mission of the devs is to get us to play longer, so adding that 30 mins seems good to them, well this game is slow enough,

I'm not afraid of change, and eagerly await the combat overhaul(if i'm playing still by the time it comes out). the combat in this game is overly complicated(and i never understood why they added HAM cost to weapons anyway, speed should have been the only consideration, or possibly battle fatigue increases for spaming specials)

The whole point i was trying to make was that it is dumb to put this patch in and not change combat at the same time.

as to the novice rifleman who doubted me, i'm a bothan maxed out on my secondarymind stats and a mind of 1050, with a laser rifle or t21, i only get about 5 headshot3s without food

Points:

I've been aaspiring chefsince 2-3 weeks after launch, master for a couple months now.

I'm pretty happy with how it works now.

I do it for fun, not for the money.

I would love a chef hat.

I would love milk.

I wish my current foods would not change. Or at least not much.

I would like to see some changes, but don't want to see major bugs.

I would be very happy to wait a little longer for something that works right.

Thanks,
