This is the vision I have of the big picture the Devs are leading us into.

The imperial crackdown will make it hazardous to travel in non player cities. More stormtroopers and restrictions means more starwarsy feel. The only way to hide contraband will be to hide inside of droids in your datapad, thus increasing droid sales and more star warsyness. The toning down of chef mind buffs will force people to go to entertainers more. The shutting down of the hologrinding system will reduce the number of fake entertainers, as well as other fakes of all types, bringing back the fun into professions such as entertainers and the general cantina experience. The aforementioned forces will funnel people into the player cities and player city cantinas to get thier mind buffs and do other shopping. Doctors will probably also start manning the player city med centers instead of hanging outside of starports all day. Chefs while out of the mind buffing business as thier primary market will be able to build supporting buffs that will round out and top off a good buffing package. The changes to the combat system and general toning down of all buffs will realign the conning system such that red can not be soloed, which is as it should be. Buffs will still have importance, but not be the overpowerful thing that it is now that allows you to solo reds in the game. Each combat class will be revamped in turn to examine and realign such things as ham costs, damage etc.

Actually 3 weeks ago I was excited about this patch. I was here telling people not to complain until they saw it. Well, Ive seen it now and Im not impressed. I think most of the numbers are lower than they should be. If the numbers are right, the fillings or the usesseem wrong. Once again the just because you think this patch is WONDERFUL! doesnt make it so for everyone. All 5 of you chefs cheering this patch over and over dont seem to get that. It is not *factual* that this patch is wonderful. That is your opinion and the last I checked Im still entitled to my own opinion and Im pretty sure that it doesnt have to meet your approval to be a valid opinion.

I am concerned about chef from the fun factor as well as it being a viable profession.Personally, the idea of being useful than I am now doesnt really sound WONDERFUL! to me. The only hypocrisy around here is you saying that people shouldnt use buffs to kill stuff they shouldnt be able to kill like can now with our buffs because we are "overpowered" and the devs are right in nerfing usand inother threadssaying this patch isnt a nerf and the combat folks should be happy about the revamp. You speak out of both sides of your mouth depending on what purpose you want to serve at that point in time.

Freudian Slip!

I said that if you were concerned with fun factor and creativity of patch only, and not money, you should be impressed by this revamp. I did not say that you have to like this new system. It just seemed to me that you are more interested in sales and making money than actually making this profession different, inventive and creative. I was merely pointing out that the way you've been posting recently, one might think that you were only interested in large sums of money for what you make (Which we'll still make post patch).

This patch ISN'T a nerf, I never said it was. It is a change to balance the profession. I'm not speaking out of both sides of my mouth, I'm expressing my opinion on this patch. Balance does not equal nerf.

Btw, the post before this one is awesome. GREAT points!

When in doubt, compare someone to your child right Nikki? I am not saying you have to think this revamp is awesome or you're stupid/ignorant. The only reason I made the comparison in the earlier post was that you seemed to be getting a big head about newer chefs shutting up since apparently you and a few others should have a say here. Everyone should have an opinion right?

I assumed that you would be mature enough (since your a mother and all) to realize that everything I've been posting all along IS my opinion. Do I have to say it every time? I don't have to do it in college when I'm in a discussion that revelves around opinion. My apologies for not seperating the opinions for you since you can't do it yourself. I'll start titling all my posts with OPINION if you like.

You've been determined to turn me into a bad guy since I disagreed with you. I've tried to remain civil, you blow up, but still, I'm the bad guy. This arguement started rather simple, I was trying to assist Vimes in keeping all the chefs making this thing out to be the end of the world civil (I had his blessing to do so too). It quickly evolved in to you consistently attacking me in almost every thread saying that I was attacking your right to your opinion (This was after Leilani brought up this opinion in a thread we were posting in).

I find it astounding that every viable point I bring up in threads such as these, you choose to ignore. And it's obvious you're just as strong willed as I am. I've never once said that you can't have your opinion, or that you are stupid for believing what you do. I thought I've been doing exactly the opposite, apparently I was wrong. It's just amazing to me that anytime you don't have a viable arguement to rebut a positive statement about this patch, it turns into me attacking your opinions.

Also, with the new foods being tweaked, I hope you see now that the Devs are listening and the best approach should be calm civil discussion and expressing of opinions there instead of whining and getting hot headed here.

On Eclipse, from the people I have spoken with who have some idea what they are talking about, there is about the same number of revamp supporters as revamp haters. We can not say these new foods will be a success with so many people hating the changes, just to play devil's advocate, and share my thoughts.

Have any other chefs announced preorders to their customers with a link to the food revamp spreadsheet and food effects thread? I did so with the caveat that my resources will be much better than this and therefore the posted results should only be very conservative estimates. I'll update them all on BoH as well, but so far, I have lots of orders for anything crafting related (Orma, Pyollian, etc.) a couple of dizzy and dodge orders, a bunch of Vasarian, and a handful of unarmed damage (my guild has several tkm's). Considering we have nearly 70 members and literally every profession represented at least twice at the master level (with the exception of Bounty Hunter and Politician, we have no MBH and one Master Politician), this is more than a little disappointing. The CH'es don't want the pet buffs, and everyone else is relatively disappointed with their class's buffs (entertainers and medics especially) other than the TKM's, who love it all.

The only boon that I see so far in this revamp is that to provide these, I'll be stimulating theharvestables economy quite a bit. My customers really tend to pay attention to the amount of time they get buffed for each crate of food they get (425 BoH per crate X 8 minutes each is very nice for them). Since nothing high level, or heavily ordered for myself, seems to be even remotely high-quantity (BoH comes to mind) I will have to use BE enhancements and barrels to get things up as high as I can, and even then, my customers are already crying to me that they'll need to order five times as much at a time just to keep up their buffs for the same amount of time.

I don't really know where I was going with all this (it is late and I am still grieving for that Swedish Chef ) but anyway...we're not going to have sales figures that are reliable and stable until at least a month after the combat revamp goes Live. That's a long time from now. I do not see why people seem to be content to sit and wait without even making a fuss that this means we are stuck for an entire publish (as a length of time, between 4-6 weeks, generally)or longerwithout any judge of our future as a class other than what TH deems to tell us will be changing.

I guarantee it won't be hard numbers and it won't be the details that we need until it goes on test, and by then, who knows how far gone we will be? I'm not saying there is no chance of success for this patch, far from it. But it is quite a way's away still, and it's at least one full patch development cycle away, and for THE biggest system in the game, combat. They WILL take their time on this next publish, and we WILL be left in the cold for the majority of it.

Stopping now because I have no fancy conclusion. See ya later!

Our servers must be VERY different communities then, because I know that my guild (now approaching 500 members) is quite excited about this revamp (and the update of the revamp). I believe a lot of people have said this before, but these new foods will probably just take some getting used to. I can't say for 100% sure, but from the good response (and their reasons) in this thread and comparing them w/ the bad response (and their reasons), the people who praise the revamp seem to have a lot more idea about the system potential than the negative responders who just want their fishak/glazed glucoseback, of course, this is my opinion.

I've announced this revamp, w/ links and cutting and pasting of stats in my server forum and my guild forum, as previously stated, most seem to be genuinely excited about it, and plan to buy a variety of different foods.

By the way, have you seen the new BOH results that the Devs have tweaked? It's quite a boost even without the additive (which shoots it waaaaaaaayyy over the top). It's a promising (light at the end of the tunnel).

I've never been satisfied with sitting aside and saying nothing, but again, the arguement started about me requesting (in a rather assertive manner) that people keep the arguement civil. I petitioned TH via PM and TC thread about my grievances. Thats really all I thought that should be done, since thats really the only thing that is going to be read. Whining here is just going to stir up trouble and cause chef dissent.

Anyway, I hope you don't think I was picking your arguement apart, just making sure I replied to the statements you made.

I am glad your guild is looking forward to so many things about the revamp, Jerecki, this should be very exciting for you and don't let what anyone says take that away from you. God knows I wish that I was having the same luck with my customers. Hopefully the 2 new cantinas I'll be serving will help with that, but those are more RP engagements than anything else, thus I am still remaining skeptical.

As I mentioned in my post, in the "I will be updating everyone on the BoH" I am aware of the changes made to said BoH and the other stat foods too. I am also painfully aware of the over 12k resources and 7 factory runs necessary for a crate of barrelled, bio-enhanced BoH. A lot of people seem to be neglecting this fact in their saying "Well I'm sure you can just enhance it and put it in a barrel to make it more than 1 per stack. See? The developers did do a good job giving us options." Options do not always equal better. Sometimes they just equal more. More work, time, money, but not even necessarily sales due to the prohibitive costs. We'll see.

My "skepticism" or "negativity" about this revamp is now in the fact that I didn't really see any food or drink that couldn't have used a tweak like the stat onesdid. Double negative, sorry. I would have liked to see a similar boost on the skill food. Not to ridiculous "Why even get this tree in Fencer if I can just buy this food instead?" levels, but to the point that it is a useful and noticable difference. Quantity is the biggest boost I would really have loved to see. 1 stacks at Master are ridiculous. As someone going from 20 stacks to 1 stacks, this means SO much more clutter and time for the same amount of product in the end. Customers like crates because they get more value for their one inventory space. Otherwise I would still be selling 3 stacks of Sunburns like I did in August (Wahoo for terrible reactive gas ruining my awesome wheat Buggy subcomponents...) This revamp is telling people they need 10 X the inventory space now for close to the same old product. Sure, BoH will be a huge seller. But if we are meant to be the skill buffers now, why not give the skill buffs themselves a little more perk? We already know pure mind people will still flock to Vasarian like it's the second coming of the Beatles and NSYNC at once. Moving on.

No, you haven't said Nikkii is stupid or ignorant. But by pointing it out that you haven't in every post that you make, it just reinforces to us, the readers, that that is EXACTLY how you feel. Jibes about her maturity, motherhood, blowing up, and then saying she DOES choose to ignore things are found in just the first three paragraphs you wrote here. If you are insulting someone while claiming that you are not, that is called lieing. It's also called tactless. This whole thing is pretty out of hand, but honestly, until the two lines you wrote before you quoted my post, you didn't even do anything but a personal attack on Nikkii. THAT is an opinion that is not going to benefit your post, this thread, this forum, or anything else except your own ego. Please take care of that on your own time, as I'm sure SirVimes isn't going to "give his blessing" to personal attacks on ANY Chef, regardless of their opinion.

We seemed to be doing finetalking about what we didn't like aboutthe revamp and letting Vimes know what we did. If we weren't, I'm wrong then, but this whole "You guys don't like what SOE is doing? God, not that you're ignorant, but how can you ignore how good this all is? Wow, you guys are not paying attention." thing you keep doing is just very disturbing. A lot of the reason that people bring up the whole "You know, you guys haven't really been around the Chef stuff that long" thing is just that we don't have a huge number of people who have SEEN what it is like to be a Chef with products that are not high quality, are bugged, or won't sell. It's a LOT of frustration and a LOT of waiting for a fix that rarely comes. Or if it does, it comes 6 months later. Milk, anyone?

The market we have right now is crazed for food, and since it HAS allowed players to do more than SOE obviously wants (Hence the combat revamp is a self-admitted nerf, designed to disallow most players from fighting content they are currently able to with low difficulty) we will suffer at least in the short term before the combat revamp goes live. But as I have said over and over, we CAN NOT know the true success of this revamp for at least 2-3 months! People will be too busy getting their guns and armor and droids to worry about a +10 to dizzy for 10 minutes.

And just because it popped into my head, did SOE not realize that if they gave us bigger stacks of food, we wouldn't have to make as many crates and we would save them quite a bit of database space? ESPECIALLY if we could then have a reason to be using 12k resources on 75 BoH. When Armorsmiths want to make a good product, I don't recall that they use exponentially bigger stacks of resources. I think they just use better ones or add a layer or three. 1 stacks at Master do NOT thrill me by any stretch of the word.

Okay, I'm done. Fire away, Jerecki, and ignore the fact that I am not ignorant or stupid while showing your contempt for all of us who don't agree with you. TTYL and can't wait for the next exciting installment of "I Don't Think Nikkii is Ignorant: But I'll infer it all day long"

I just wrote a huge post with all kinds of rational arguments for the fact that I don't even really know Nikkii and am allowed to support anyone who shares my opinion and listen to anyone who doesn't, but it is just going to cause another slingback from Jerecki, so I'm just going to suffice it to say this:

The only aspect of your character that I am familiar with is in expressing an opinion that I do not agree with and dressing it up as fact. Barring that, you seem to resort to insults or veiled insinuations about people's parenting abilities based on their disagreeing with you on how reasonable resource requirements are for food in a game. Is it any wonder why I would have an issue with that?

I apologize for having a part in this all taking place in a thread that was supposed to bring people from outside and build a bank of opinions. I miss the old Chef forum where people got along. Not always agreeing, but people got along. Let's just try to get back to that. Disagree with each other's opinions all you want, but stop with the personal attacks. Let's just have a truce on that so that we can get back to positive, constructive discussions about the revamp, just as Jerecki once suggested. Okay, now let's all hug.

Inform the chefs on your server of this fact so that they know to ban you from their vendors when you're begging for food ;-)

Non-aggresive huh seems you might want to rethink that comment and there are plenty of other examples all around where you tell everyone that was against the massive reductoin in Cehfs buffs that they where just in it for the money they could make or from my side of it that all i cared about was "soloing everything in the game"unbalancing it and all.

Please try again to dig yourself out of that hole and make it seem that you where actualy in the right.

Im dissapointed in nerfing/removal of the great stat buffs that food gave me to combat mobs and stuff so i wouldnt always rely on doctor buffs and/or entertainers Now it seems they arebeing changed to buffing pets(ya like that 10k ham pet needs a buffing pfft)and skills...sorry in pvpAND combat, my 2ndary stats + my mind stats matter most to survive so I can spam specials and/or get away

A compromise imo woulda been keep all the useful good foods that people bought/used everyday and change all the junk stuff that no one ever used or bought into buffing skills.

I felt the same way you did till yesterday when the devs uped the effectiveness of all the new foods by 2-4x with reducing the digestion time by 50% and increasing the power of the stat buffs.
