I think I finally figured out what my main problem with the revamp is: it has turned a profession I enjoyed doing (gathering the best resources, making the best food I could, and selling it) into work. What before only required some help from scouts for gathering meats and such, now requires items from Master BEs, scouts, Master Artisans, Tailors, and scouts again. Bio additives are now going to be mandatory, not optional, to make foods that people will want to buy. Scouts not only have to gather the meat we need for creation, but also have to supply the huge amounts of milk we need to make our items. To make the biggest stacks we can, MAs have to create crates and crates of components so we can make kegs; alternatively, if we settle for lesser stacks, we get to have tailors make crates and crates of trim. Tailors? TAILORS? The last time I checked with my guild tailor, she didn't need any help with making money. Clothing SELLS, they are fine on their own.

i think thats the way it should be but...maybe thats becuase i can get all that but the meat(can harvest lots by myself) for practicly free...

I am all for the new changes. I love the new art and I am looking forward to the new food. I will miss some of the old food but I look forward to them adding new food in the future.

I never became a chef to become rich I became a chef cause I loved making food, sadly not every one has the same opinion. I have played around with the food on Test Center and I do like it. No one said it was going to be an easy transfer but everyone seems to be focused on their lack of stat buffs when I see that chef will become so much more with the new patch.

I am concerned about the sheer number of BE componenets that we will need and it seems like it will be a huge hassle to use them.

In the current combat system fishak and pate are mind heals. Yea they are buffs, but they heal. This is the way they get used VERY often. A heal and bufffor a whole lot more sounds a lot better to me than a small heal.

Perhaps taming clothes go for a lot on your server...but now with the one skill to rule them all on CH, taming doesnt do much for CHs anymore. They cant call or even tame a better pet because of it. They get a "better chance to not fail while taming a pet". They used to go for a lot before the CH nerf. The reason theywent for so much is because ohh you guessed it milk (and the 10k cpu price tag on it). They arent worth nearly what they used to be. And once milk is common in the game, they will most likely come down even more.

Yes im getting that you can take 3 of this drink (hopefully) for mind focus and wp. And Im getting that they can be stacked depending on filling. It seems that you are saying because no current food (decent in chef tree) can be used 3+ times that the current food is inferior? No I cant take 3 bohs. But I can take one and buff 3 of my stats for 550-600. And the very minute it falls off I can do it again. As much as I want. Your 3 stacked buffs dont equate to but half of this amountand you get stuck with downtime.

I *want* to like the new system I really do. I was here 3 weeks ago telling people to calm down and stop fussing because we didnt know things were gonna be bad. I *want* to like the revamp. Truely. But in its current state, with the way it ties to what is the *current* combat system. I dont like it. I like 3-5 foods. Thats all. Yes its great to say one day it will work with a different system. Well that day isnt today. That system doesnt exist. You dont know what its gonna be like anymore than I do. How can you say they are good and the way they should be for the "new" system, when we dont even know what that is. The only basis for comparison that we have is what *does* exist. Basing decisions non-existant things is probably not going to work well for most people.

Some hate it, Some love it, some are a little of both. I personally am at hate it but I *may* be able to *tolerate* it depending how it pans out. Which is why Im on test trying to play around with it now. When we were told we were going to get better buffs, I didnt feel the need to go level a chef on test (my mistake). I didnt know that better meant better for another game not this one. With that in mind, better being less, how do honestly have a glimmer of an idea about what we are supposedly being balanced with. For that matter, since its not even on test yet, Im not really comfortable in stating that I think the devs know.

Whale, it really doesn't seem all that complicated.

People don't want to have something good taken away and have it replaced with something inferior. Is that so complex?

Food is on-demand, you can store it, you KNOW you have it ... entertainers are simply unreliable in terms of being able to find one when you want one. Is it so hard to understand the difference between the two?

I'm all for the changes being implemented, but I also wish we could have some of our heavy buffers that we had before. Perhaps they could change the ingredient size for those items that buff extremely well, or what not, or put in lootable schematics for these good buffs. I would be happy if I KNEW I could get some better schematics somehow.

I love the idea of skill mods in our food. I really do like this idea. Every member of my guild are loving the ideas that are coming through, but our HAM buffs are horrible. If we had better HAM buffs, I would be extremely happy with the new changes, but I want them to stay on TC for a while longer so maybe we could get some feed back from the combat classes.

I'm a Chef, and I plan on mastering it, for funsies. I ONLY see good things in these changes.

If you are new to the profession and haven't mastered yet, I can't see how you can possibly know what's good or bad for you in that small period of time.

I've been a chef since a few weeks after release, and tons of this stuff makes me see red.

What the other chefs said in response to your 'rude' but innocently ignorant comment, is how I see it. I don't have experiementation numbers and 'maximums' all set in my mind yet, but I keep over 35 Foods stocked that DO sell, so...someone isn't understanding the full implications of these said changes.

If you're having problems selling other things now, either your propoganda isnt right, or you just don't know the limit of your possibilities as they exist now, which means you can't possibly understand what is going on, and why some of us older chefs are agitated.

So, in light of "What the HELL is wrong with you?" I can only say, ask yourself the same question.

I want to see what was taken away from us on TC replaced somehow, personally.

I say throw out the changes, give us milk, fix some bugs we have, and leave us as we are....

You know,, thre are some things that are good about the revamp. If they could keep our like, top ten sellers as they are and throw some milk in, it would be cool, but other than that...just fix the problems, give us milk, and heave the rest of the revamp in the garbage as far as im concerned. As a near master pistoleer, i like the idea of some of the new things, but honestly, i think my budding business (just made master 3 weeks ao, just made my first million recently) will definitely go belly up. What im saying is, keep the fishak, the glucose, the BoH, the Ryshcate, the Sunburn, the Flameout, the Thundercloud, the bivoli, and a few of the other key foods as they are and i wouldn't mind he change. I personally don't want to make pet food (come on, we're restricting that market to 1/32 of the populous) and i don't wanna get rid of my biggest sellers or the things that i myelf love having on hand in a fire fight.

Keep the changes, with a little teaking of buff values (without AND with additives). The reason being that I don't remember the Devs ever saying the revamp would make us BETTER, but it makes us different. Think of all the work this is, and I'm actually having fun just thinking about making food now. As of right now, all I do is get my resources, throw em in factory w/ a good schematic, and let it roll. Then I switch to my combat char and have FUN. This seems challenging, and I think I'll like it. People who work hard w/ their food, drinks, and containers will be rewarded with GOOD stuff. The Devs are changing us to prevent the crazy soloers who are killing crazy stuff by themselves (krayt's for example). This game is about interactions, and playing together, and I think this patch is adequate in achieving this goal. Yes, I'd like to see slightly higher buffs, but It's not 100% neccessary to me anymore. Regardless, I'm staying chef, and I'll continue making food. Thanks for the hard work Vimes, these changes are awesome, and make us quite unique for the time being. These combat professions that are complaining are mainly people who want to be able to solo things they aren't supposed to solo, so their ticked. They'll come around when they start to get schooled in PvP by these food users. If I remember correctly, it took people a while to come around after we got unbugged, but once they found fishak, we got too much business to handle. Thanks again Devs and Sir Vimes.

On a side note, something is confusing me.

I see a lot of people complaining about the new BoH. If I'm not mistaken, the current BoH buffs Strength, Quickness, and Focus by 600 - 700ish, but you really can't take it more than once.

Now, according to Ezran's thread, a BoH made with whatever resources were available buffed Strength, Quickness, and Focus by 246, with a 25 filling. So, take it four times (as full as current BoH), and your buff is +984 Strength, Quickness, and Focus. That can easily be brought up to 1000, and even higher, if you experiment well.

So, tell me again how this is worse?
