No, sorry I can't concide to that. It was imo overpowering to begin with, therefore wouldn't count as a nerf, rather a rebreaking of a bone to insure it heals right.

Honestly to look at the entire scenario it's a slick move. The buffs, to mind specifically were overpowering. The overpowering nature of this caused a blurring of the lines that were set to distinguish the classes...ie special usage vs. HAM cost. So what was a high rate, low damage class can sit there and spam moves that take alot of HAM, enjoy to damage mod and not worry as much about the concequenses. Thus a major seperation was brought due to the middle run and slower classes, who have a high damage capability, with high HAM costs, who still need a lil balance...well these guys get run over by the special spamming 'low damage' classes. Prolly make no sense the way I put it, but nonetheless, the food was a big cause for the class imbalancing that no one really payed any mind to.

Riflemen, swordsman. You guys are at arms, no doubt due to your special costs. Next to a pistoleer or TK you need to spam your highest attacks in an attempt to match DPS, thus this really hurts you guys. With the weapons availible and the cost associated, swordsmen with the armor needed to stand up front...Mind cost is horrendous. The break comes when the pistoleer or the TK uses the same buffs availible to you, but can put out specials at an incredible rate, which do moderate damage, but with lower HAM costs. Believe me, I'm in the same boat as well as the other pikemen, and carbineers. But to fall back to the nature of combat, when have you ever seen someone win anything by doin the same **edit** over and over again?

Between all the back and forth between professions and their balance issues, I'm sure someone woke up one morning and said..."Thats it, thats the problem!"...I sure wasn't thinkin bout that as I would sit there and look at my combat spam thinkin 'wow this is really kcufed up.' Even then, I honestly think it is not right that even as unbalanced as things are, that fully buffed I can stroll up to three reds, aggro em and stand a good chance that I'll survive the fight. Even more disturbing is watching a fencer/pistol combo do the same and be able to go right on to tap the lair when he's done. This will bring more balance than any of the changes that can be inacted on the combat professions individually as far as I'm concerned. And I for one welcome that.

oh come on you can say it...it wont hurt too bad I promise.

N-E-R-F *laugh*

Seriously, I think that all nerfs are made with best interests of the game in mind. I dont think devs set out to attempt to ruin things just because. Im sure they felt it would improve the game and it might. It might not but it might. That still remains to be seen since we have no knowledge of this new system.

But nonetheless, it is stilla nerf of our current abilities. The devs obviously decided it was a necessary one. So be it.

Just dont tell me that that my new nerf is a wonderful bed of roses that I should relish lying in and what do I mean I theres no nerf. Ill learn to live with it if thats the way it is. But be honest about it, a reduction in ones abilities is a nerf.

Funnier than Seinfeld ... but at the same time sad that the devs also seem to equate 'having a fighting chance' as 'overpowered' ....

Wow, heated debate here! Well, let me point out a few things that haven't been noted so far:

1) Everyone is on a level playing field. For those PvPers complaining that they won't have the mind to resist a mind-shot or eye-shot by a Rifleman or Bounty Hunter, don't forget that the Rifleman/BH won't have the mind buff to be able to spam those specials either.

2) You were combining foods before for certain effects (yes, I know - you were getting everything you could get for mind...). Did you look to see what you could combine with the new receipies? How about this:

For PvE

  • 2Bofa Treats (+43 Health, 41 minutes, filling 10 food)

  • 3Blob Candy (+40 Action, 30 minutes, filling 11 food)

  • 1 Pikka Pie (+23 Dodge, 20 minutes, 26 filling food)

  • 2 Vasarian Brandy (+136 Mind, Focus, Wil for 34 min, 41 filling drink)

  • 2 Spiced Tea (+41 mind for 37 minutes, 10 filling drink)

  • 1 Synthsteak (23% reduction of damage for 30 attacks, 26 filling food)

Total Buff = +80 health, +120 action, +350 Mind, +272 Focus & Willpower (note for me I'd go for an extra action buff since that's the thing that always runs out for me).

23% reduction in damage for 30 attacks (note - assuming that an average high-level mob attack hits for 1500 points and your armour absorbs 45%, this would decrease the damage done by 190 points, or basicaly give you +5700 to whatever stat takes damage for the 30 hits)

+23 to dodge (getting hit less is good right?)

This template could be used for about 40 minutes (re-filling on Pikka Pie once), then rest (or heal wounds) for about 10 minutes, and re-fill on everything again.

For PvP

  • 2 Bofa Treats (+43 Health, 41 minutes, filling 10 food)

  • 2 Blob Candy (+40 Action, 30 minutes, filling 11 food)

  • 1 Ahrisa (+184 Focus, 38 minutes, 33filling food)

  • 1 Pikka Pie (+23 Dodge, 20 minutes, 26 filling food)

  • Flameout (75% reduction of damage for 3 attacks, 93 filling drink)

This would give you +80 to health & action, +184 to focus (to decrease your Mind cost of those specials), increased dodge meaning you're avoiding getting hit in PvP and if you do get hit (assuming you were wearing regular single-layered composite), it would be like you were wearing 80% resistant armour.

Add to that some Muon Gold and you'll be ok for a bit. Maybe with the damage mitigation, long enough to take down your opponent. It's not all about buffing up with one food and going - you have to find the "right" combination.

Yes, you can't get that +1,000 buff to all your mind stats from food anymore, but neither can anybody else... PLUS you can now get some nice little benefits like getting hit less often AND taking less damage when you're hit. I think that is invaluable....

well thats great except its over the 100 limit on drink and food not counting the second pie and half of those are artisan items not chef. And exactly why does one need to master chef anyway if food is better at lower levels... oh yea experimentation points. I would however like to thank you for reinforcing the point that the artisan food is better than the chef food.

If you could rely on musician buffs this would be all fine and dandy but they are few and far between, compared to chef buffs and doc buffs

and i find myslef repeating my concerns again as you obvioulsy have never tried to get a full set of buffs.

If I am limited toa 2hr play at a sitting i need to find 3 masters a doc for the quick buffs and both entertainers wasting a min of 20min of my time then i have to fly to where i can find something worth shoting at so i have been NERFED from a 2 hr play time to a 1hr and 15 min setting at best

If that's what you gotta do to be uber, that's what you gotta do. Chef food isn't gonna do that for you anymore. It will make a weak player stronger, or make a stronger player that little bit better than the equal profession he's dueling.

However, I go on hunts, and tank (I'm a TKA/Chef, true iron chef) without buffs. You just need a team to back you up.

If you can't solo creatures on Dathomir in your 2 hours of play time. Go to Talus, or Corellia.

Ez, there's no need to be deliberately obtuse ...

None of that helps you the slightest bit when a rifleman starts nailing you with mindshots as you walk through Theed. We are not trying to be "uber" in the least, we are trying to survive for more than 10 seconds in a PvP encounter. You don't PvP, great, nobody should force you to, but please quit saying things that aren't in the slightest bit relevant to the discussion for those of us who DO.

I've only recently started surviving ambushes by riflemen with the ability to gulp a couple quick glucose or a fishak ... that usually gives me enough time to RUN AWAY, not win the fight with my "uberness".

You do not have time to group in such situations ... you certainly don't have time for an entertainer buff. It's that simple.

I don't mind players not being intimately aware of how other classes play this game, that's to be expected... it's just insulting when the devs who are paid to design it display the same level of ignorance when making design changes.

Just out of curiousity, would the mind heal drinks be a workable substitute in that situation? Or do you need both the "heal" that Fishak gives and the buff above your normal max to make it away? So now you'd be getting shot for....350 Mind (is that a good ballpark number?), drinking a +500 fishak and going to 900/1250 (assuming a starting mind of 750), then being able to absorb two more shots before going down on the third (total of 4 shots before incap). Using Blue Milk with 350 Mind heal & 33 filling, you could healback up to full Mind after each hit until you get full,so that's three, and another three would be neededto incap you, for a total of 6 shots before incap.

Granted, that's a pretty contrived situation I put together, and you have to use up three drinks where before you only needed one. I'm just trying to get an idea for whether we can put together a list of "If you ate X to do Y before the revamp, after the revamp use Z to do Y". X and Z don't necessarily have to do the same thing as long as they both allow you to do Y.
