I've only recently started surviving ambushes by riflemen with the ability to gulp a couple quick glucose or a fishak ... that usually gives me enough time to RUN AWAY, not win the fight with my "uberness".
Just out of curiousity, would the mind heal drinks be a workable substitute in that situation? Or do you need both the "heal" that Fishak gives and the buff above your normal max to make it away? So now you'd be getting shot for....350 Mind (is that a good ballpark number?), drinking a +500 fishak and going to 900/1250 (assuming a starting mind of 750), then being able to absorb two more shots before going down on the third (total of 4 shots before incap). Using Blue Milk with 350 Mind heal & 33 filling,you could healback up to full Mind after each hit until you get full,so that's three, and another three would be neededto incap you, for a total of 6 shots before incap.
Granted, that's a pretty contrived situation I put together, and you have to use up three drinks where before you only needed one. I'm just trying to get an idea for whether we can put together a list of "If you ate X to do Y before the revamp, after the revamp use Z to do Y". X and Z don't necessarily have to do the same thing as long as they both allow you to do Y.
Thats the same process that i thought about when thinking about the new blue milk as oppsed to my currant set up of fishak and gulcose if i am not using ryshcate to lower Ham costs (ie buffed).
first reason this is inferior is that it is only usable after i take damage so i cant prepare for the battle and have a advantage over my opponent if i see him first.
second reason is that after the DEVS do get around to putting in the new ham system this will not be effective to help counter special costs.
third reason if i get caught with my pants down as discribed in the situation here it is difficult to get this used because unlike Spice,foods go in the combat Q and are consumed only when you get to them so if i am attempting to fight back as i run i must make sure to clear out anything else i have waiting the attack again forcing me to use on of my combat rolls as a autofire shot which does minimal damage and most importanly inflices no status effects which are vital to my style of PVP
forth its jus plain inferior by the numbers with the currant system i am able to keep 2 fishaks in me for 1100odd additoinal mind and then 2-3 glucos as well for an additonal 600.
I am not suprised at all that the devs feal this is overpowered but they seem to think that all the people that play this game are stupid beyond compare as they keep trying to tell us that these changes and others in the past like them are not in fact nerfs and are even presumptuous enough to say it like they expect us to belive that load of crap.
Always know that in Dev speak
Fix = Nerf
Revamp = nerf
rebalance = nerf
and so on

Wow, heated debate here! Well, let me point out a few things that haven't been noted so far:
1) Everyone is on a level playing field. For those PvPers complaining that they won't have the mind to resist a mind-shot or eye-shot by a Rifleman or Bounty Hunter, don't forget that the Rifleman/BH won't have the mind buff to be able to spam those specials either.
Rifleman can put a 300+ mind bleed on people in PvP, I've done it on occasion (when the person pisses me off enough to have to put one on him). Can you justify this? I had a 350 bleed put on me with a hammer equipped (43% damage reduction), could you imagine what he would have done if I had a rifle equipped?
2) You were combining foods before for certain effects (yes, I know - you were getting everything you could get for mind...). Did you look to see what you could combine with the new receipies? How about this:
For PvE
- 2Bofa Treats (+43 Health, 41 minutes, filling 10 food) Holy **edit**, 43 mind, I don't know what I'll do with myself.
- 3Blob Candy (+40 Action, 30 minutes, filling 11 food) Trash
- 1 Pikka Pie (+23 Dodge, 20 minutes, 26 filling food) Only good for pistoleers since dodge/block/counter-attack isn't very effective unless its over 140
- 2 Vasarian Brandy (+136 Mind, Focus, Wil for 34 min, 41 filling drink) Has potential.
- 2 Spiced Tea (+41 mind for 37 minutes, 10 filling drink) Trash
- 1 Synthsteak (23% reduction of damage for 30 attacks, 26 filling food) Can you imagine a TKM or a TKM/MB taking this? What a joke.
Total Buff = +80 health, +120 action, +350 Mind, +272 Focus & Willpower (note for me I'd go for an extra action buff since that's the thing that always runs out for me).
23% reduction in damage for 30 attacks (note - assuming that an average high-level mob attack hits for 1500 points and your armour absorbs 45%, this would decrease the damage done by 190 points, or basicaly give you +5700 to whatever stat takes damage for the 30 hits)
+23 to dodge (getting hit less is good right?)
See above.
This template could be used for about 40 minutes (re-filling on Pikka Pie once), then rest (or heal wounds) for about 10 minutes, and re-fill on everything again.
For PvP
- 2 Bofa Treats (+43 Health, 41 minutes, filling 10 food)
- 2 Blob Candy (+40 Action, 30 minutes, filling 11 food)
- 1 Ahrisa (+184 Focus, 38 minutes, 33filling food)
- 1 Pikka Pie (+23 Dodge, 20 minutes, 26 filling food)
- Flameout (75% reduction of damage for 3 attacks, 93 filling drink)
This would give you +80 to health & action, +184 to focus (to decrease your Mind cost of those specials), increased dodge meaning you're avoiding getting hit in PvP and if you do get hit (assuming you were wearing regular single-layered composite), it would be like you were wearing 80% resistant armour.
184 focus doesn't do **edit** for specials. Might save you 3-5 points on mind cost.
Add to that some Muon Gold and you'll be ok for a bit. Maybe with the damage mitigation, long enough to take down your opponent. It's not all about buffing up with one food and going - you have to find the "right" combination.
The right combination could be one food, people seem to think that because you use a handful of foods that you are incompetent or weak in dueling. There are only a handful of good foods, smart people would utilize them instead of mixing it up with a variety of crap. Hey, I'm looking forward to having a separate hotkey bar for food alone since I can't have it on the same one with my specials..anymore.
Yes, you can't get that +1,000 buff to all your mind stats from food anymore, but neither can anybody else... PLUS you can now get some nice little benefits like getting hit less often AND taking less damage when you're hit. I think that is invaluable....
When tapes are readily available and people have 200+ accuracy you need alternatives to "getting hit less." The Dead Eye suringe doesn't even work, what are the odds this crap will.

I highly disagree,
why is something giving +350 on whatever with 12 charges more expensive, than
something giving +700 at lets say 6 charges?
I never priced by charges, as I see no sense in just focusing on one characteristic of the item.
If you want to call me a bad chef, don't do it based on my pricing system
(Though I know that wasn't your intention hehe)
Again, I find myself repeating the same thing over and over again. What is it you plan to fight where a set of doctor buffs, a musician buff and some of the new foods will not allow you to fight, and fight comfortably?

interesting, where can I find more info on this? AS forum?
The In testing update notes talks about the changes to DOTs in the combat section.
