Thread: Everybody please read: Question about sales
If i might throw in a users view point here on how i spend my money on food.
Inventory space is limited when i stock up it is usually done so i dont have to go hunting for supplies again and can safely make it through a few days without wasting the hours hunting supplies. That being said. What i normally carry is.
10 crates of PowerUps
10 weapons ( I am a bounty hunter and have to have pistols carbines and LLC and the different damage types)
3 crates of Camp kits (calling pets and vehicles and healing while waiting on things)
1 Crate of Stimpacks
1 Crate of probe driods
1 Crate of seeker driods
1 full suit of composite (9 pieaces)
3 Shield generators (have 3 due to shifting stats just pray one has a good shift)
5 Crates of Food ( currently 2 BoH 2 ryshcate 1 fishnak)
By the time you take into account that i have one of each food, driod, and stimpac uncrated that is a full pack.
That leaves my base inventory to hold loot. Which means when gunning down stormies or Nyms NPCs i can go about a hour before i have a full inventory and have to sort out what needs to be deleted.
I would just have to stop buying food if it could not be gotten crated i think. Space is very limited.
I could not carry as much stuff on me but that would mean more frequent trips away from where i am hunting to find a vault to store stuff in.
Guess all i am trying to say is buying food uncrated would be a major pain in the bumm and i would buy it alot less often and when i did it would be in greatly smaller amounts.

I think you hit the nail on the head
Or maybe they couldn't

I sold the crates in 24 hours, half the singles are there. Unless the stacks are 1n 150+ uses, forget it.
So no, singles only would be the final nail in the coffin, I'll go Master Doc & sell buffs in corellia to make cash.
I've only sold Crates. Zero single item foods. Never had anyone request single item food either. Only Crates 100%.
I can't make a living off of singles alone.
That said, I have no real trouble selling singles. I just cannot sell them in enough quantity to cover my costs. I make enough moneyfrom crates that I can afford to have the singlessitting around on my vendorfor a couple weeks and the players who buy the singles do appreciate it. My singles buyers are mostly casual folks who can't afford crates and/or don't use consumables as rapidly -- if there were no singles these people would not be using food at all and that would justbe sad.
(As a point of reference I'm a fairly low-key master chef: just 2 factories, 3 or 4 harvesters going at a given time, and a cantina - the rent on that puppy is pretty hideous so I just live there.
)
harvester maintenance = 50 cr/hr *24 hr*7 days/week*5 Medium harvesters = 42,000
Power Cost = One Fusion PP running 24/7 = 12,600
Factory Maintenance = 75 cr/hr * 24*7*2 factories = 25,200
1 house = 6,300
Total weekly expenses = 96,100 cr.
Based on that, a chef would have to sell about 100,000 per week to be in the black.
So let's assume this chef is INCREDIBLY INNEFFICIENT and makes only 5 crates of food per week . Let's also assume that those foods sell for 2K per stack. That would be 25 X 2,000 X 5 = 250,000 in reveneues per week. Less from that the production costs, the bazaar listing fees (20 cr per unit?), shuttle fees to advanced planets (where this stuff will sell better) and you'll get a Net profit of about 125,000.
I'd think selling one case of food on a bazaar on each advanced planet PER WEEK would be reasonable. The bigger problem will be making those 2,000 cr. foods (as opposed to the more expensive and more competitive BE foods that will have to sell for 7,000 cr per stack and are too expensive to put on the Bazaar).
That said, this chef won't be making 1 million in profit per week... but they COULD make a living...
