Thread: Major change to drinks

I'm making around a million a day to 2 days, but the point is, is that despite their complicated components they aren't having customers breathing down their necks for multiple crates of driods every day.
I'm just correcting the misconception that DE has a better margin. It definitely doesn't.
Ok...here's a question. If you all are making so much money, millions a day....why don't you buy them? I mean, the small glass is going to be made by anybody, won't require that many resources probably, so you may be able to buy them fairly cheaply.
You and I both know how that's really going to work in reality.
Plus it's not the requirement that I'm saying is bad necessarily. What I'm trying to highlight here is once again the reality of "most desirable". Once the player base establishes a "norm", that's what they will want. So, to put other "options" and pretend like they matter just seems like an awful big wasted of time to me.
It's always this way though with crafting, because developers can never seem to make things situationally desirable in their own right.
You end up with 7 products to sell as a chef. One medical level that really is desired (110) as a DE. One highly desirable fusion rate (14) as an architect.
Do you see what I'm saying?
Now, if small glasses did something different than kegs, that was equally interesting and situationally just as useful, then you'd have something. As it stands it's just filler until you get to the top. Like almost all crafting professions. All the desirables are crammed in that last lovely master box. Experimentation bonuses, yadda yadda yadda.
The difficulty is balancing the "reward" for being master with the "desirability" of less than master items.
I just wish they'd stop putting fluff in all the trees.
How many chef schematics you have right now as a master?
Now, how many are desired by your market (customers)?
That disparity is ENORMOUS. This glass/keg thing is just going to be another instance of that as it stands now in my opinion, and if so, I'd rather it was just left out.
Just so nobody says I didn't offer up an alternative...
What if glasses gave a bonus to power of the buff and quantity of the stack, and kegs gave a bonus to duration of the buff and quantity of the stack. Something different, but equally as desirable depending on the way a chef wants to specialize their product, or a customer's desires.
That sort of thing.

Because I can do it myself cheaper, better, and most important of all reliably. Also as some other people said, I probably wont use small glasses at all, it will be expected for me to have kegs.
chef is becoming more and more fun the closer i get to master. i curse the holocron no more

Reliably. That's the key word here. When you ahve the kind of turnover we have you can't wait for someone to come up with your subcomp runs for you. The idea is great in theory, but doesn't seem to work in practice.
Plus with the size of the runs that many Master level chefs do, it will take several trips just to move the components to you.

I have a daily income that is in the 300-500K range from droid sales alone. That does not include other sales that I make from the Master Artisan and Merchant professions (eg powerups, meds, vehicles etc). I sell on average 50 crates a day of BH droids alone (a crate contains 5 droids). Each droid takes 3 or 4 subcomponents (EMMs and GPs from MA). To make a run of 1000 (ie 200 crates) of BH arakyd droids I need to make 4 separate factory runs of 1000 subcomponents before making the final droid. Thus, a run of a single set of droids that will last me less than a week of sales, takes 8 days of factory time. Since I have 4 factories already and two full time apprentices with their own factories, I can run a lot of that in parallel, but it should give you an idea of the shear volume of stuff that needs to go into making just a single DE product, not including the rest of the parts and subcomponents that are generally made in factories too. (eg a probot needs a chassis, which requires as one component microsensor suite, which requires a GP module, control unit and power conditioner subcomponents etc etc).
Based on what I like to call "the law of player desire dynamics", I see the customers only really wanting kegged by a master. Just like all things crafted the players determine that something is a "norm" and then anything less is undesirable.
Glasses will never get used by mastersbecause expectations will climb that drinks should come in lots of at least 15 or they suck.
I don't like this at all.

I agree with this. I forsee very little use for anything besides small glasses(artisans) or Kegs(masters/sales). Sort of like why would any use a stim-b, when they can just use an advanced stim-b. Unless Kegs use rare/expensive rescources, then I dont see any reason to use the others for sales purposes.
