Thread: Making Appetizers Out Of Entrees
I don't know if this has been mentioned ( I read most, skimmed some ), but I don't believe the mind concerns will be that big a problem. I, too, am hard-pressed to keep up with my orders for Glucose, Fishak, Vercupti, et al (you know the list). However, the combat changes are supposed to be easing the role that mind plays in combat. Will this happen? who knows, but it may not be as dreadful as some think.

I have to agree with the consensus here, I am both excited and worried with this "first glimpse" of the changes.
I am curious as to the "role" of Chef after the revamp. What percentage of our foods will actually buff stats? A better way to ask this question is, if Fishak is changed, will anything take its place? And when I say anything, I mean other professions too...where can my customers (and myself) go when Fishak no longer buffs mind by 5-600?
There are many holes in this game right now (the largest of which Chefs have found a niche lately.....the ability to buff and pseudo-heal the mind pool), and I am curious if this revamp is going to give us new content while making the existing problems worse.
Looking at the Entrees list, I have to admit I was more impressed with the Domestics branch. I don't know if Entrees will have a theme (looks like resist buffs would be it's theme if I had to guess) while Mixology has a different theme unto itself, but will one of the themes contain any Stat buffs at all? Or, do all these have additional stat buffs that are just not listed? Or am I totally off base with the whole "theme" idea?
I know we don't have the answers to any of these questions at present, but my gut tells me we may be heading from a useful and needed profession (who woulda thought 6 months ago)to a novelty profession a la Image Designer. To elaborate,Fishak/BoH/Sunburn/Glucose....these are a much bigger part of the game now than they were when we were hopelessly bugged.....if they are taken away only to be replaced by something like:
Angerian Fishak Surprise
Duration: Triggered
Effect: Increase KD Resistance
.....I for one will be saccing Chef and not looking back.
In a nutshell, what is replaced must be comparable. At present, I am very concerned that it will not be.

Vayde, good thing to take a look at on the test center.
Bob...I was told that it effects ALL experience gains...including any UXP gains you might get while it is effective. What I want to know....will this bonus apply to aprentice points.
It's hard not to be apprehensive about these changes. Some of the foods seem to refer to skills and abilities that people aren't very happy with right now (e.g., Trandoshan regeneration), so the demand for them will probably be dependent on what other changes are made to the game.
Also: Do any DOT resistances actually work? If not, will they work when these changes do live? Bioengineers testing bleeding defense clothing (up to +25) have stated that combat bleeding defense is either totally broken, or that the effect is so paltry that is is practically broken. I've heard similar things about resistance against poison, disease, and fire, although this seems to be based on speculation rather than testing. I'm not even sure what DOT resistances are intended to do (decrease time, decrease damage, decrease probability, or some combination), but if they don't work at all, Blood Chowder, Cho-Nor-Hoola, and Trimpian will be rather useless.

All very good points, which I agree with entirely. But, I am more concerned with what they are doing with the only useful food we have.
Meaning, losing Trimpian isn't all that huge to me since it never was worth making. But what happens if/when Sunburn goes from 1600 sta/str to +10 rifle crawl speed? (shudders)

We also have to remember something about the game balancing. First off, this is part of the combat rebalance. Secondly, TH said today that rebalances are going to be done from the viewpoint of where we are going, and not where we are. Kinda like saying that the food may suck or be ridiculus to start, but in 6 months that it will all work in a well oiled machine.
Having just said that, I don't have faith that (balance)journey will ever be completed. A week into the TC publish, I will probably be hoarding schematics. Just hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.
I was thinking, some of the descriptions of the foods directly correlate with the old system of buffs that they gave. I know I'd appreciate it if they changed the descriptions of foods that no longer fit. Like ormachek for example says how mon calimaris like it for enhancing their mind. Well its not going to be a mind buff anymore, its going to be an XP buff or whatever. I know this is an **edit** observation, and completely not neccessary, especially dealing with the launch of them and dealing with bugs and stuff. Anyone else care about the descriptions or is just me?
Im just wondering how much time we all have?
Type: Skill Mod
Effect: Melee Defense Bonus
Anti-TKA kits ?
What we need are numbers :/
I hope they add in Char Copy to this patch, I'd love to test this lot out when it gets on TC.
