Thread: Combat Professions: Express Your Opinions Here.
As Master TK, Master Brawler, working on master swordsman, I'm stocking up on the foods I use now (Fishak and Ryshcate exlcusively) and praying the combat changes come quickly. A +mind food is still needed. 8 minutes in a cantina for MAYBE a good mind buff isn't effective and foods are a good solution.
As a master chef, I already have a hard enough time stocking 10 items. Harder still gathering resources for them all since there's not enough intermingling of resources. Nothing here appears to be the instant seller that ryshcate or fishak or BoH are. I still give free samples to people, and find that there are still people who don't understand how foods works. It's hard enough stocking my vendor now. I am not looking forward to this change - nor am I looking forward to the myriad of questions im not going to have the answers for about the new foods.
Is there anyone who is excited by 50% of the new menu? 25%? I'm sure a lot of time and effort went into this but it makes me want to scream.

Have you not read the whole thread? If not, my advice is to do it from very beginning. You'll find we're talking about at least 30, not 3, new foods attractive not only to combat classes but to docs, entertainers, even crafters.

I see. So you would be happy with selling 3 types of clothing in shop? Currently I stock about 15-20 foods regulary.Yea great Im excited to have 3 foods people may want. And Im wondering as a tailor, what is your food experience with the current menu?

Even so, it's at least 3 new foods that are likely to sell. Doesn't look like a nerf to me.
I speak on behalf of my alt, Semele, Master Chef...
This patch hurts chef dear, at least for the time it takes them to come out with the patch for combat... If they are changing us chefs, then they should do it at the same time as the combat patch. I don't think you have been in the business long enough (since you are picking on the old chefs) to realize what sells, and what doesn't.
We can tell you the good the bad and the ugly, and this patch has it all...

The point that we disagree on is that there are alot of useful foods. Ive seen less than 10 people agree to that. My customers are coming here and coming back to me and going ummm thats stupid after they have seen the new menu. Maybe 1 in 10 likes it. From my view Im going from selling 21 items on my menu to most likely about 5-7 if I had to take a guess. Your menu currently exists of...hrmm well nothing much at the novice level, sunburns if youve gotten that high. And now you see things on the menu you think you might be able to sell. So yea seeing stuff in the tree at that level does look good. And it *should* that is one thing good about the revamp. I dont like the buffs. But it looks like they did a much better job spreading stuff throughout the trees. However coming from someone with a full menu now, I can say that until we know what the new system is like, my menu is going to be greatly reduced. By more than half easily.
Im very aware of what is going on in my profession as Ive been reading this board daily for many months. I dont need you to educate me about what food is in the revamp. I was sitting here waiting on results from ezran and the other folks on test when the patch happened.
There is no reason to break a profession on purpose.

I of course speak on behalf of my alt, Semele, Master Chef (Ahazi)

A bit abrasive but Nikii_Nightstrider is making some very good points. As a combatant this food as nothing to benefit me, I'm a master of a profession, what the **edit** does accuracy do for me? Nothing.
I don't have dodge, that does nothing for me.
My specials cost mind out the ass, which there is now no food that does anything for me..
Sounds to me like a whole new game. Which given the record of the one we have now means more months of waiting for the basic fixes. Why should we go all the way back to beta stage again?
I'd rather spend my time actually ingame playing so I don't spend hours wading through the forums looking for information. Thus I don't know all the details about the proposed combat bugs... er... I mean changes but...
After glancing at the list it looks as if I'm in serious trouble. I'm a Combat Medic and I use alot of mind. Given that I'm lucky if I can get a mind buff once a week, I have to depend on food/drink/spice.
I guess it all boils down to I just flat out don't trust that this will even work when it comes live.

My current normal stock consists of:
- Ryschate
- Sunburn
- Fishak
- Vercupti
- Pate
- Ormachek
- Veghash
- Bivoli
- Burnout Sauce
- Vegeparsine
- Cavaellin Creams
- Ice Cream
- Durindfire
- Accarragm
- Ice Blaster
- Elashandru Pica
- Breath of heaven w/ Alcohol
- Breath of heaven w/ Alu
- Flameout
- Thakitillo
- Gralinyn Juice
This is my normal menu. Im sorry if the chefs youve been to have never bothered to explore their menu, but just because they havent doesnt mean it doesnt exist or that its not useful. This is another issue of chefs thinking they know everything about what their customers want without actually consulting their customers. I sell ALL of these items on a regular basis. Yea I sell fishak more than gralinyn...but the gralinyn still sells. In addition to this I offer several artisan food that sell as well.
Just to back Nikki's point. What I have found is that almost everything we have available now can be sellable if the price is right. I have sold everyone of those things that Nikki mentioned, and many others. If you look on my vendor right now, I probably don't have but about 4 different items. Thats not because I don't want to make the others, but because in the past 3 weeks, its about all i can do is keep the darn thing stocked with Fishak and something else now and then. The volume can be incredible at times and there is only so much time in the day. Doesn't change the fact that its all useful.
I also agree with her point about not speaking of whats saleable and whats not unless you actually have the experience at it. It is a valid point.
