Thread: Top ten chef problems
I know a lot of people chug their beverages, but the fullness time is much longer than the buff time (at least, as far as I've seen so far), and turning auto-eat on for one stack would help keep people more consistently buffed (and more consistently using Chef products) to counteract armor encumbrance (as mentioned above).
I'm a newbie cook (only making light deserts and tasty wafers atm) and I'm quite worried about the number of problems afflicting the chef profession atm as I'm keen to get tomaster chef - just so I can be likeSteven Seagal in Under Siege - Wielding a knife and 'filleting' my opponents whilst still keeping a watchfuleye on the corellian spice-buns in the oven;-)
But...if you read between the lines there seems to be so much positive potential to the chef class, that things can only get better. Any step is an improvement,so in an odd way we are in agood position. Also, we are a minority BUT we have shown solidarity (brothers) and a commitment to the class even with the problems we currently face. And, we have effectively put down the issues we face and provided very realistic solutions. Hopefully this will give SOE the message that we are a mature and dedicated bunch and they will put in the changes the class diserves BEFORE we grow tired, which will eventually happen. Its great to not see a single **edit**? FIX CHEFS! DEVS READ!!! post.
Chef's are such an integral RPG element of this game. We can feed and provide drinks to people in cantinas whilst they listen to entertainers. We can brew up regenerating stews at scout camps for the tiredbrawlers, provide mind-enhancing (non-hallucinatory of course) snacks for hard-working doctors in the medical labs and sell treats for pet-owners to give to their beloved animals. Chef's rock! So give us some love SOE...
Hey everyone,
I made a post on the SWGdiscussions boardcalled "Have crafters noticed any of the following?" Please feel free to add your comments to it. Maybe ifenough people post on itQ-3PO will actually answer about us poor chefs. I covered three big points I have seen in this thread there. Crafting Stations, Experimentation issues, and Spices being sold in the Bazaar as FOOD.
Oh and please feel free to add about the Milk and eggs. I totally forgot about that point. Anyway thanks for the support and I apologize if this post is not appropriate for this thread.
It appears Medium/Large flora farms cannot be made, due to factories refusing to accept a component :/
I now get 50% UXP from some foods. You only get it once the entire stack is finished though, and it isnt the 150% it should be, but at least it's a step in the right direction
> Spices being sold in the Bazaar as FOOD
Wow yes. I just looked at the bazaar under food and saw all this non-food with buffs looking way better than mine. There was no obvious indication it was spice. And I keep seeing all these people wandering around puking, guess that's why my sales are slow...
If you get it when the entire stack is finished...why not just use crap components...to have less per/stack that way you make the UXP faster, as they dont' have to go through digesting up to 3x if your stack is like 5x big.
I have a question.I know we are supposed to get UXP when people finish eating a stack of our food, but do we receive it when we are not online? I logged on today and noticed some of my items on the bazaar had sold (earlier in the day), but I have yet to receive any XP (late at night), so I figure they either didnt eat it or I just didnt get the points. My guess is, is that I didnt receive the points because I wasnt logged on. There must have been atleast a 5 hour gap between when they bought the item and when I logged on, a ton of time to be able to consume 2 units of a food.
I just wanted to revive this thread as i think it outlines current problems and suggestions for fixing pretty well. Also wanted to add to list.
Progression of foods.
There doesn't seem to be a logically progression to food items available at higher lvl. We all know how food gets worse from dom 4 to novice chef. Butit continues up the tree. At mix 2 yes you can make the stunning tatooine sunburn, but there are many drinks there that still pale to dom 4 food, even with great ingredients. I used 999 flavour corn with over stats above 800 (except for decay resist), wheat 800 plus on 33/33/33 split, and water above 900 on both stats and ithorian mist still sucks.
Also mix 2 gets tat sunburn but do cooking and desert lines get anything worth selling. The tree seems to be totally random, rather than proggression.
also i think tat sunburn is a typo, when comparing it to the other drinks available at lvl, it seems more like 150 srength and 150 stamina and -99 focus, and that still better than most drinks at mix 2. Which is sad.
I have just attained Novice Chef in Tatooine Mos Espa, and I love the profession and the attention I receive by players needing the nourishment. But I agree that it almost seems impossible to accomplish many things. I am all for role playing and realizing that it takes a long time to master new skills, but it seems like my hands are tied (Not good fora chef). I was hoping to at least get an xp kick back for others consumming my food, (Tailors get kickback XP when people wear thier stuff) I am going to open a store tomorrow Outside Mos Espa but after hearing some horror stories that I need to stay there almost all the time to tend to the shop or I will sell out quickly since we may only have 20 units at a time in our store, seems almost hopeless. Please Devs! Assist our Hindered profession and give a Cook a break!

StruckMatch Cafe - Where The Chef Is Burnt, But The Food Isn't
I think the real fix for Chef's is a simple one.
SWG is like real life, but unlike real life SWG players don't need to drink or eat to stay healthy.
This is simple coding, Just make the player bars slowly drop every few minutes. Only Food and Drink can raise this back up and even Buff.
This is all based off of time played not RL time. This makes Chef valuble along with NOT Nerfing the Smugglers, because Spice is a buff and NOT food or drink.
Ahhh.... The solution is near.
