Thread: Newly public CU info
Not many others doing the same, too much the sky is falling in syndrome.
But still, it's understandable that people are concerned, and I can admit that SOE doesn't have the most fantastic track record
But in my opinion the original Chef revamp was the most successful and well-designed revamp of any profession, and added so much texture and variety to chef and to combat. Even in light of the "brandy uber alles" approach to drinks, they pretty much did Chef right.
I hope it's still in basically the same state after the CU, and of course i'm looking forward to more info about it. Time will tell.

66 pages so far in Blair's topic, not even 12 dev posts. No answering of any issues for entertainers, dancers, musicians, image desingers or chefs in any dev answer. Well for entertaineres TH did say "Entertainers are outside the scope of the CU". But apparently breaking them and us isn't out of the scope......
There had best be some good dev answers or responses and they need to post all the rest of the docs monday. They need to be upfront about everything, skirting around issues just shows that either they don't care about those issues, or they know the response they'll get is not going to be good.
Yes!
When the team looked at the buff system and the wayit currently works, the upside is that many players enjoy the playstyleand the interaction while the downside is that the way buffs currently exist, it is unbalancing the overall game system. The goal was to retain the playstyle for players that enjoyed it because it is a great facet of the way the SWG world works, but we needed to both balance it and make it work so that buffs aren't a barrier to a casual game session.
Buffs will still be part of the game and so will the playstyle. Doctors will need to use the character respec to redefine their skill set, but that playstyle is preserved. Buffing won't be a requirement for casual play, but theywill be a good thing to have for long game sessions,PvP, PvE and all sorts of activities, but they wont be a barrier to just jumping in and having a fun game.
Aside from the need to get you folks more information (which we're working on), Here is a list of some of the concerns gathered so far:
- Item Conversion Details
- Modded clothing
- Buff Packs
- Potent Weapons
- Modded clothing
- Ranger, Creature Handler and Entertainer outlook
- Details on skill point allocation and the process
- Details about how player health progresses
Please keep the questions coming!

There is the lone dev response to our concerns, thought people might want to see it. of course they still don't mention anything about the chef profession, and likely BE to a point, being put out of business. While making the weaponsmiths thrive. I would say armorsmiths too, but it looks like they may rake them over hot coals too.
But not enough has been shown to knwo for sure.

I'm sorry but at this point its been said that Mind and Action pools will be unbuffable. That means Brandy, Ahrissa, Canape are gone right there....they will not work at all. Next Vercupti's power will be greatly reducted to only 1 stat where it now buffs 3. Mando Wine is worthless since they are removing the drain stats. T'ssolok, Corellian Ale and Corellian Brandy are made worthless by the changes recently to and continuing in this publish for entertainers.
I posted above what I think might be safe to make, but I also acknowledge that those products int he past have not sold well. If they can get by without buying them, they won't buy them. Thus chef sales will become as they where before the chef revamp. Basically we are being nerfed to high heaven after in the chef revamp we were told we would be in balance for the CU.
THinking by this statement that we would be. I have lots of berries and fruits ( for brandy and canape ). They may never get used now, and I've wasted the money on them. Without some outlet for them I'll have no way to resell them and even get back a little of my money.
Thunderheart's answers as always are evasive, he skirts around the issues and he ignores questions that he knows will not be well received by the profession asking them.....
This is only true IF you are certain that the buffs for Brandy, Canape and Ahrisa won't be changed to something else. I agree it's pretty likely that our big sellers will be something different. However all those uber berries and fruits we've been collecting are still uber organics, we have other recipes, and it's possible that Brandy, Canape and Ahrisa will be "translated" into some other kind of buff that IS useful.
And the truth is, we just don't know WHAT will happen to those foods.
But just keep in mind the complaints of Chefs a year ago who were terrified that their whole business would be ruined and they'd quit the game if they couldn't sell Tatooine Sunburns or Corellian Fried Ice Cream anymore.
If they weren't able to adapt and they just sat around crying over their Angerian Fishak recipes then, sure, their business was ruined. But things change, it isn't going to ruin anyone's life if we have to focus on a new food as our main seller. Every business has challenges when times change, this is one of ours.
Personally I plan to use my Brandy fruits in the Mandalorian Wine schematic I just bought yesterday

Don't you mean Breath of Heaven? I think Breath of Heaven buffs Strength, Quickness, and Focus (drain stats).
- 2 mando wine schems just sold on my server for upwards of 10 Mill. Whoops.
- I particularly enjoy making skill-mod items. For some reason they feel more "worthwhile" to make than Brandy and Ahrissa. Frankly, these are are the foods and drinks I use. I find it reasonably effective for my chef/pistoleer template.
- I have 2 toons...and they have been horribly mangled in templates...I should have 1 crafter and 1 combat. Now I have incentive to do so.
- With the all re-working of combat templates won't that mean a greater amount of grinders that are gathering creature resources? Could this lead to a surplus in valuable meats and hides and such? Lower prices and more balanced economy perhaps?
Final impression: This is a time of great change. This dynamic state should be embraced with open arms. Not only has the CU been desired for combat reasons, but also for playability reasons. This gives ALL of us a reason to adapt and improvise which is a main component of GAME playing. Secretly, I bet everyone who complains about this and that, can't wait to find a new way to accomplish a NEW goal or NEW task. After all, for those who want to play the same thing over and over, without change...without excitement and variation...save yourself 15 + bucks a month and start playing tic-tac-toe with yourself.
I have about 40 million in inventory currently. I tend to not push my sales and would rather be known as that guy with a couple tents with stocked vendors...then thatguy spamming at a starport about his 7 crates ofBivolion an otherwise useless vendor. I stand to lose a great deal unless I can push this inv. in the next month. That's finewith me. Just because I chose a safe professiondoes not mean there are not risks involved. There always are. And you know what, that makes things exciting....makes me feel like I am playing a game...and not "point at a stack of meat."
I have great faith in the chefs of Flurry (we've got some purty good ones) to overcome these obstacles present...and be one of the first, if not the first professions to be completely in balance once this hits.
I can't wait.
