Thread: Have Chefs become the greediest people in the Galaxy ?
Here's a question:
Had the revamp not actually been pushed through, would this thread have ever existed?
Nikki: As I have posted in response to your other "I'm leaving post" you will be heavily missed, and likely joined by me on the Vishna Express...
SirVimes: Good explanation of the formula - small mistake - you forgot to halve your flora resource costs (and other materials)when you halved the amount of crates being produced![]()
SOE SWG Development Team: This revamp was a bad idea, good intentions, but the direst ofconsequences on the "community" feeling, interdependency enforcement, etc. Maybe onceSOEAccounting and Marketing Departmentloses theaccount money from3 out of 4 original Chefs (and I'm not even considered "original"), they might get a clue, and reinstate the way things were. Until then - expect an overall decline in the "fun" factor of playing a Chef.Less fun = less revenue = less Christmas Bonus.
Welcome to Corporate America.

OH and I have been in this GAME a LONG time... and this is common.. everytime there is an influx of people chasing the 'buck' there is this attitude... happened with Arch, Armor, Weapon, Holo harversters... etc...
People forget this is a GAME.. if it is not worth your TIME to harvest things for no CREDITS then fine.. for me.. it is about FUN of playing a GAME...
You are absolutely right. Unfortunately the influx of people chasing the buck do not post on these boards. They do not care about the chef community. Yet it is on these boards you come to complain, to blame us. And it is the people on these boards who wind up defending people like that.
You are right, it is a game...and with the attitude I am seeing in this board, for the first time it is no longer a fun game. The developers have made us dependent on BEs and Tailors and Rangers who are pretty much going to gouge us...and then put up with customers who are going to complain that our prices are too high.
It is just not worth it.

Let's break it down though: to make a cask and the additive is 150 gemstone, 20 fiberplast, 5 petro, 15 water. That's 190 ingredients. Lets say 5cr/u generously (even though quality doesn't matter in any of these components, but then again you have to buy the trim) so lets say 190 x 5cr/u x 25/crate = 25k (rounding up).
Btw, each cask uses 2 trims not one.Additionally personally I pay my tailor more than 2cpu profit. Surely you do realize that. Since you are here saying that you cant just hike up the price of your cases but have to take % of our profits, surely you wouldnt try to say that the tailors time is only worth 2cpu? Cause Im kinda getting the impression thats what you are saying.
you are getting closer but you still arent there.
And you say that my argument is minimal. Since these tissues are costing us 2k a piece now. Thats 4k just in tissue. Oh but wait tissues arent just 2k now...now they are half of anything we make. I find it very odd that you value a tailors time at 2cpu but yet feel that your time is somehow worth 25cpu. Broad spectrum uses 80 resources each. Thats 2000 resources per crate. For which the charge seems to be 50k + now. Of those 2,000 resources, 500 of it is meat. Lets say you buy meat at 20cpu (more than fair since meat is typically 5-10 cpu). That makes your meat cost 10,000 per crate. 50,000 per crate - 10,000 = 40,000. Ok, you have 1500 flora left @ 3CPU = 4500. So of your 50k price, 10,4500 is in cost. You are making almost 5cpu at that price. Yet the tailor is alotted a 2cpu profit.
*furrows brow* Im puzzled.
GRR my keyboard keeps fritzing out.

It's threads like this that make me glad I'm a Be/Chef/Tailor. My Medic/Marksman/Scout helps as well. I can almost stay completely self suffecient. Btw.if anyone complains about my prices, I base prices on a formula. One of the variables in that formula is production cost, not if it's be food or not.
Houston we have lift off!
Now, due to the increased costs, extra factory runs ( I cant keep as many harvesters going, as I need factories to keep up so Im buying in), I charge no more than 20cpu.
By charging 20cpu, I still make less over time, than if I was resource harvesting. I see people put 10 heavy harvies down when a good or rare resource appears, they wait until 2 weeks after it cycles out, then sell it at 20-40cpu
I see Weaponsmiths charging 20k for a good gun.
I see armoursmiths charging up to 600k for a good set of composite armour
Why am I greedy asking for 20cpu for an item using top-notch ingredients, thats taken me 5 DAYS to produce.
If you dont like the prices as a BE, get off your backside & become a chef.
If I understand correctly the chef is providing all of the material and the BE is providing a schematic. A profit of 4 million on a 100k investment is a 4,000% return.A profit of 100k on an initial investment of zero is an infinite return. Seems like the BE is getting a good deal. I am an armorsmith and require synthcloth and reinforced fiber panels. Ihave asked several different tailors for schematics and none have ever asked for compensation. Not being a chef or BE maybe I am missing something, but 100k for 1-2 minutes of game time seems like a good deal. I hope there aren't any tailors reading this

Having bought acheap schematic from a BE, aChef can now make 1000 BE-enhanced units of Brandy, or 40 crates, if I'm not mistaken. Soooo, judging by recent postings, these 40 crates will sell for 8 MILLION credits (if conservatively priced @ 200K per crate). If we (generously) say that BE-enhancements only double the price of food (implying that a normal crate sells for 100K, hehe), that will mean that the Chef has made nearly 4 million credits of pure profitfor an outlay of 100K, which is a 39,000% profit !! Muhahahahaha... and some people actually sell for more than that...
Djaz
You know whats sad? I'm getting more entertainment from arguing/defending on these boards than I am from getting frustrated in game. This community is what brought me to Chef in the first place, believe it or not - along with the idea of making food (I just think thats cool).
Fatgit: Some very valid points /agree /agree /agree
Nikki: ROFL I knew that this "revamp" had to benefit somebody ![]()
Stabboy: We aren't defending the "attitudes" of some Chefs, but we are defending our product against an onslaught of criticism (mostly from BE's). If I made a 4 million credit profit, I'd have no problem giving 1 million to the BioEngineer for 40 crates of tissues, and 500k to the Tailor for the trim, keeping a healthy 3.5 million for myself to help pay off the production costs. That wouldn't be too bad... and that doesn't make me (or any other Chef) greedy... just fiscally responsible.
Vodokar: You are absolutely correct. /agree /agree /agree
Ewokkillah: I do think that you are right. However, I'm heavily leaning towards not sticking around to find out.
