Keep in mind that my entire rant is about: "So Chef's want to buy BE schematics, yeah ?", which I feel is a ripp-off, considering the price paid for the benefit gained. Am I wrong ? YES- Look in the mirrior at your Pets, Stims clothes etc.

My pricing example is based on a 1000 CASK run, and my material costings are based on my own extensive experience of harvesting flora and energy. If my whole pricing formulais so terribly wrong, show me (and all those who read this) by providing a clear example. 1000 Cask runs cannot be made. Each cask requiores 2 trim, so the max Cask run you can make is 499. A chef using their own lots have one lot for Cantina/House, one for food factory, one for flora, one for power, one for gems, one for chem, one for power... you see the issue. You cant harvest it all w/o 2 accounts, cross server lot shares and/or massive PA help. Every aspect costs credits.

I apologise for the "sell me a Brandyschematic" line, that was gutter-press tactics, and u are right to burn me for it. I have no skill points left to "burn" you as I have to waste them on Tailor, Scout or BE to try to be more efficient. No room for combat skills here.

If you don't like the prices, move along. Go find something else to do. Don't come to our board to "create some controversy".

i only speak for myself, but i thin k we deserve every cent and refuse to sale my stuff chaeper than 10k per cask, 250k per crate, because you gotta consider these things

1. finding BE components. I personally pay about 25-40k per crate of be components, and i can only get them every few days or so, so for a full factory run of be enhanced stuff we're talking about 1 million in Becomponents

2. Trim-- not that it's hard to find, but it's ac hore to have to wait for someone to make it and get it to you and sort it out.

3. casks_ you need 150 crystalline gemstone to make 1 cask, plus 2 trim, meaning you'll never make more than a half factory run of casks, not considering the 3750 crystal per crate.. try harvesting that yourself without devoting all your lots to it and see how long it takes you, even using ber13 heavies

4. alcohol-- not that its hard, but another factory run

5. Light food additives-- yet another factory run to make those be components usable

6. Final run. It takes a bit of work to get to this step, but not too much, if tall required resources are gathered. This is what goes into our labor, not to mention experimentation....

the hard prt is waiting and gathering resources, so if you think of time spent hunting down and waitning on all the right components, maybe you can understand our prices. If i'm too high, i suggest someone else who may be cheapr than me, but i honestly am not too high, considering my stuff s better than muon gold and has about the same quantity per cask as a crate of muon. No one complains that the single use drugs cost 8-15k per crate, but give em the same amount of doses in an uncrated cask, of a sudden, im a greedy jerk...

sound fair?

Now as for buying schematics..yeah, that really does take advantage of the BE, but if they want it like that and don't want to do the resource hunting, then what alternativce is there? Pay them a million credits for 3 seconds work? I'd do it, but does that seem fair to you?

I sell non-BE casked brandy for 90-100k - that's no more than 15 cpu for something that requires multiple factory runs every day.Maybe someonewho has 30 lots can harvest all the resources but when it takes 75k crystalline gemstones and 50k chemical to make just one run of 20 crates I'd ratherbuy grinding resources at 2.5-3 cpu and harvest good organics (sometimes have to pay up to 10 cpu for something decent).Talked to a BE yesterday, he expected me to pay 4k for a broadspectrum nutrient - that's freaking 50 cpu! And you call chefs greedy! Now, I find that 4 cpu per tailoring tissue is fine since clothes aren't consumables and customers don't mind paying 20-30k for something that helps them and will stay forever (until the clothing decay finally works anyway). But at 4k per nutrient I'd have to add 100k to a BE crate only to cover the cost of the additives (but not the time and hassle to make the final product with them). Now if I wanted to charge 50 cpu for a single factory run I'd sell synthsteak at 56250a crate (only 15k on my vendor) or thaktillo (master item) at 112500 (only 40k). I'd say 100k for a schematic is much more than a BE deserves for a minute work. If someone offered me 100k for a crate of reinforced panels I'd make them5 schematics but I have yet to find an armosmith willing to pay even 10k for something that they NEED to make armor. If you think about it, chefs are actually more generous than any other crafter in the game.

I think that you don't need BE enhnacements to be competitive. Your tailoring to a diffrent market by choosing to use them or not. Granted non-BE items will be less potent, but you also can buy in bulk (moreso), and it will be cheeper.

I think that some chefs price high, and by one chef seeing another charging more, he feels compelled to match prices.

I personally price my items by the total units to make it (all the cerial, container, the meat, ect) times a slightly flexablecr/u rate depending on how hard it was to aquire the materials and how much effort it took on my behalf to make the products. I RARELY compare prices to match.

To be perfectly honest, if a BE wants to sell his products to me, great, I'll pay his price. But the person who buys the end product, will end up paying for a majority of the cost to manufacture. It's how economics work. If people want something bad enough, they'llpay forit. Supply and demand.

There are a LOT of our fellow chefs gouging. Ive gotten a few chuckles as Ive looked the prices people have posted for their brandy. Its almost like the newer the chef, the higher the price. (yea yea its been pointed out to me on 30 different occasions that Im arrogant and offensive for say "new chefs") It was great fun for a while. That time is over. For all the chefs that cant see the change happening, look at the posts here by your customers. Ask your new customers why they left their old chef. I have no intentions of losing a year of my life again doing something that isnt fun. I have til the end of the month.

Funny... BE enhanced Brandy in casks costs about 10 times as much in production as non-BE stuff in small glasses and yet if I try to sell the first at 400 per charge (175k for the crate) people are throwing eggs while non-BE stuff in small glasses can easily be sold for 400 per charge and people feel they have found a real bargain (as they compare the price with the casked BE stuff).

The whole concept of CASKS vs GLASSES (= items per stack = number of buffs) and BE vs NON-BE appears to be too much. I wish people would compare the actual number of charges and the buff size and would not just see 'crate - 30k' and 'crate - 175k' *sigh*.

OK, I am repeating myself but it *really* bugs me.

ok.. I see your point but most of it is scalping on the chefs end. I'm not going to pay you an insane amount of money for a schematic that I provide the resources for have the schematic and maybe 50k for the 1-2 minutes that It took for you to make that schematic.

It took me 21 hours to make 410 broad spectrum nutrients. thats a hella long time. overall around 30 hours from start to scratch on the medium nutrition additives.

I'm still waiting on trim. and now gemstone since it is not on tatooine last I checked. need 65k gems of any quality to make the 410 casks, not to mention 920 trim.

I will only be charging around 150-200k per crate once I finally finish making these. it all depends on the stats. use a formula. price is variable depending on the stats of the final product. ths is what I use

(quantity*time in minutes*buff size) /filling.

Have a beef with me then. I have 2 accounts, yet have not had time to use a sword or polearm for more than 30 minutes since the patch due to factory time, harvester check, buying supplies, stocking vendors etc.

My game time is worth credits. You don't like my prices, you don't have to buy. I know hunters who charge 100k a hour to harvest meat. It is worth it to me to pay them even though I know they get credits from the missions too. Why do I pay them? Because I want my customers to get THE BEST BUFFS THEY CAN.

What do I spend my money on? I give money to people for resources. Such is the cycle of life.

Ok, lets look at the numbers.

For one thing, you can never make a factory run of 1000 Brandy's. Brandy needs 2 identical alcohols. Because of this, the most you can make from 1 schematic is 500 before you run out of alcohols from a run of 1000.

Ok, so we are making two runs of 1,000 brandy's with cask and BE components. Let's look at what we need to make those

  • Alcohol:

    • 20,000

  • Brandy:

    • 20,000 Beries

    • 20,000 Fruits

  • Container:

    • 150,000 Crystaline Gemstone

    • 10,000 Inert Petrochemical

    • 40,000 Fiberplast

  • Bio-Additive

    • 20,000 Meat

    • 35,000 Organic

    • 25,500 Cerial

    • 15,000 Water

Now, assuming we can get all these materials for3 cpu (and really, how often do you find high quality materials for 3cpu?), we are looking at a cost of 1,065,000 just in materials.

Plus 100,000 for the bio engineer schematic.

Plus however much the tailors will charge us for 2,000 trim (unless we own our own clothing factory.)

If we gather the materials ourselves we would need at least 8 harvesters, which we need to pay for, and many man hours to gather the meat (we don't have enough points for master chef, combat skills and to be a master ranger...we have to go after the smaller prey)

Or we hire tailors and rangers and other people to gather the resources.....then there are factory runs. To make 1,000 brandies I see 7 factory runs right there. (2 for alcohols, 2 for brandys, 1 for the container, 1 for the nutrient, 1 for the additive.)

I think you see the point.

"I know hunters who charge 100k a hour to harvest meat."

Really? In an hour I can harvest about 2k of meat (with Ranger/BH combo).. I can kill faster, and harvest more than MOST in game...

So you are paying 50 credits per?

See and the chefs I have been talking to.. who are charging as much as anyone has mentioned here.. want to play LESS than 3 credits per...

And when I try to barter my services... If I bring enough meat/hides/milk for 10 of something.. I think it is fair that you give me 1 of them... and then no money need change hands... I have been flatly told 'you pay my prices or take a walk'

Then I come here to see the attitude of 'don't like it.. leave'...

One of my good friends.. (who shall remain nameless) has been a chef since beta... and is pretty well known around here... and so I have been watching this forum for a LONG time...

Look around... the attitude is COMPLETELY different...

It makes people like me feel MUCH less like being fair when dealing with those who have this kind of attitude...

AND AGAIN it isn't everyone... but it is getting worse...

You want to make money.. go for it... but me .. I'm playing a game.. and I like to help others out (by getting hard to get items, and not insisting on making fake game credits for it)... what chefs (and again not all of them) are doing is making it less fun to play with them... THUS... I don't... I can get the same results from other classes... the reason I have used chefs in the past is because they were a good, fun group... not because of some uber this, or ultra that...

OH and I have been in this GAME a LONG time... and this is common.. everytime there is an influx of people chasing the 'buck' there is this attitude... happened with Arch, Armor, Weapon, Holo harversters... etc...

People forget this is a GAME.. if it is not worth your TIME to harvest things for no CREDITS then fine.. for me.. it is about FUN of playing a GAME...

This is NOT to say you shouldn't get to play the way you want.. but when people like 'dealing' with you less.. then they WONT deal with you as much...

I don't know how appropriate it is to come to the chef forum and **edit** about how greedy y'all are. And the argument of the original post is a simplified view, but it's difficult to completely dismiss it. Is it hard to make brandy? yep, definitely, it's a ton of work. I recently made some artisan level drink that I used my own bio enhancements in just for fun, and it was a multi-day process that's for sure. And chefs have been through a lot. My hat's off to anyone who has stuck it out here since before this release.

BUT... you can't deny the numbers here. You guys charge a premium for non-BE modified brandy. Congats, you certainly should for your #1 product. 150k/case is a bargain so says your customers. The benefits it bestows is well worth that money. I bought some myself yesterday and look forward to trying it tonight.

BUT, you add one BE tissue to it and it suddenly doubles in strength. Nice. We could argue how fair that is, perhaps the enhancement should add less strengh, perhaps chefs should be more or completely independent of BE's, but that is the fact as of today. And then you put it in a casket and it suddenly becomes much more desireable yet. So let's break it down a little bit. Let's say a chef charges 300k for BE-enhanced brandy as many of you do (see the brandy pricing thread in this forum). Some BE's argue that their supplement is responsible for all of that 150k increase. This is obviously not true. Let's break it down though: to make a cask and the additive is 150 gemstone, 20 fiberplast, 5 petro, 15 water. That's 190 ingredients. Lets say 5cr/u generously (even though quality doesn't matter in any of these components, but then again you have to buy the trim) so lets say 190 x 5cr/u x 25/crate = 25k (rounding up). Plus you gotta do 2 extra factory runs, lets say that adds another 10k for the trouble and use of the factories. So we're up to 35k. Nikki likes to argue that you are burning through extra resources each time you do a schematic, which is true, but then again when you're doing a reasonable size run that is insignificant.

So now we're at 150k (difference in cost between BE modded, and un BE modded) -35k = 115k. Ok, so in this scenario, and I realize it's probably somewhat different for each chef, but in this scenario the adding of the BE mod is directly responsible for around a 115k increase in the product value. 40 crates x 115 = 4.6 million credits. Forgive me for any math errors as I just woke up, lol. So anyhow, now you can all argue about what a "fair" split is of that 115k/crate. Personally, if I was a chef and given an opportunity to purchase a schematic that would net me 4.6 million credits, plus do my business a whole lot of benefit just by the fact that I'd now be offering "upper echelon" products, for say 500k I'd do it in a heartbeat. That is an absolute steal. Conversely, as a bio engineer who runs the same factories as you guys, if a chef offered to make me the schematics necessary to make 40 crates of brandy for 1million credits, I'd do it *snap* just like that. It's money in the bank. And as far as the split goes between BE and chef of that 115k if the chef was to buy the tissues, well, just play nice folks, there's plenty to go around. I don't think chefs should get it all, I don't think BE's should get it all. Just meet half way. It does make me really sad when I see chefs complain bitterly about a BE trying to charge 60k for a crate of tissues. Yes, that is greed plain and simple. And likewise when a BE tries to get 110k for a crate, that is bad too. But then again you have chefs running around boasting that they are getting 500k for a crate of brandy, and actually reveling in their ability to charge that and simply responding "supply and demand" like they are some kind of financial genius when asked how they justify that price.

Now, back to the greed thingy. BE's are certainly guilty of this as well. Mounts was particularly galling. To make a really good non-CH or medium CL pet it probably costs us around 10k (travel + cloning + insurance + materials) plus maybe30-60min of our time, yet some BE's were charging well over 100k/pet. That's not really that bad if they are "quality pets" where that amount of time went into them, but unfortunately many were not that sort of quality. And even today you see BE's charging a million credits to make a CL 70 pet which still boggles my mind, but they justify it simply by saying "it's hard, and that's what people pay" which is true on both counts. But then again that's exactly what chefs are saying is it not?
