Thread: Thakitillo question

Hehe, I know if you had a vendor on my server with those kind of prices I would buy you out and just stock it on my vendor.
And I would ban you.

Something I was wondering about regarding Thakitillo is.. I remember Vimes passing on Dev information.. (or perhaps it was from Dev) to the effect of there always being a 10% knockdown chance regardless of defence... does that imply that after hitting +90 defense it's time to put points into duration/filling?
totally correct. Defense vs Knockdown is capped at 90% even with food - damned pity all the other defences aren't
Anyway, I only go up to 90%, then put the rest into duration or filling.
Is the 90% cap tied to a +90 on the defense skill? Seems like there should be room for quite a bit lower Thakitillos then, since many professions already have some defense.
Hmm, I wonder if a filling additive could get one down to 25 filling.. might go nicely with the other 25 filling foods

All I remember is TH stating that there would always be a 10% of a KD.

Also all crates are marked with my own name, so all of your customers could feel free to contact me personally and cut you out of the loop. Selling another chefs goods is a terrible business practice, especially if you yourself could never reach the stats the other chef did. When you went back to selling your own product its possible it would be inferior in comparison.

Awwww, no need to get snappy. With you undercutting other chefs and having "no effect" how would my buying your goods and reselling them matter? Gee, must be nice to have all those nice "friends" doing your work for you. Not like other chefs who have to work on their resources and such
Well with a little effort you would also have friends who would help you. And I'm not quite sure why you are mentioning resources,I gather all my own resources on my second account, including hunting and milking. Perhaps you should educate yourself on competitive advantage and cost advantage, they are pretty basic marketing concepts.

"I said it has nothing to do with greed (anyone that is a chef for the cred is in the wrong profession). The point of selling higher would be for the betterment of the chef community as a whole. What I mean by that is by undercutting everyone you are making it harder for new people who really want to be chef (for the love of the profession) to get into the profession. Not to mention you make all the other chefs on your server look like price gougers (Sp?). Both of which in the long run are bad for the chef community as a whole."
I've seen this stated a hundred times, and it sounds great in theory, but in reality its a totally moot point. For an item like Thak, there's nowhere near enough Chefs out there to supply the demand. Not to mention, it sounds like her main customers are guildies and friends.
Posts like this really touch a nerve with me because, as much as I love talkingwith you guys here on the forum, I don't give a crud about the "well being of the Chef community". I find it hard to believe that anyone out there charging 300k a crate for Brandy is doing itfor the betterment of the community....bit of a transparent argument imho.
Also, I don't really think anyone in it for the "love of the profession" would really care at all about how other Chefs price their wares. As a matter of fact, Saitek said that's "her" reason for pricing as she does.....so I must be missing themessage of that statement.
I think the point here is, as much as I'd like to sit around with all the Chefs on my server and sing songs around the campfire while discussing Thakitillo pricing, when you get right down to it, they are competition. And competition, after all, is the point of a good capitalistic system, right?

I have slowly been raising ALL my prices... I started at 120k for the Thakitillo that was 96 to KD. I got some better resources and am now selling 100 to KD.
I charge 160k a crate and sell 2-3 crates a day. A perfect rate imo.
I have been doing the same to every product I sell out of really quick .. Canaps .. 120 are now 140k. Bestine Port 110k now 130k.
Bivoli 125k .. now 160k .. I will continue to raises prices so I can both keep a stocked vendor and be sane.
I sell almost every single chef product that can be made on my vendor. All in BE form. I almost always have 300 cases plus of product on my vendor.
I think people would much rather pay a premium and KNOW when they come to my vendor I will be stocked...than to pay lower prices but 9 times out of 10 when they come to my vendor its empty.
