What I don't understand is even if you get the crates for 5k why sell for so low. I can understand friend prices that are extremely low but selling to the public at that cost is ridiculous. Its not even about greed or anything like that, its about not having to run 5 factories of thakitillo just to keep up with demand.

I first put these up for 150k a crate and one person would buy all the crates. I've raised the price up to 200k a crate and still sell out too fast. If I sold for any less.... then 1 person would buy them all again. Mine are +97.

A couple reasons:

1) I dont care about credits, I just like making food

2) No point in selling higher, quantity is borked anyways

3) Those BE's are my friends and do me a HUGE favor by giving me those additives, why make money off of their hardwork? I don't think they would appreciate me making 200k off of additives they give me for practically nothing, nor do I want to.

4) Did I mention I don't care about credits?

I sell this frequently as well at 30k a crate for BE enhanced +99 to K vs D.

30k a crate for +99 kd? Does your BE supplier give you additives for free? I don't even sell my non BE +45 for 30k i sell it for 32k, after all it takes large amounts of 4 different resources that all need to be high quality.

Yes this stuff is a must for any fight with kd.

Ya 30k for a crate of BE Thaktillo is crazy under pricing imo. I pay around 50k per crate of BE Tissue, which is around normal to a lil on the high end. So given that 50k is already invested into a crate of Food...expect the food to start off at 50k and up. So unless your making your own BE Tissue, or getting it free or at a rediculous low price, (hook a brother up! no j.k.) you are way under pricing everyone else and losing profits hehe.

Something I was wondering about regarding Thakitillo is.. I remember Vimes passing on Dev information.. (or perhaps it was from Dev) to the effect of there always being a 10% knockdown chance regardless of defence... does that imply that after hitting +90 defense it's time to put points into duration/filling?

totally correct. Defense vs Knockdown is capped at 90% even with food - damned pity all the other defences aren't

Anyway, I only go up to 90%, then put the rest into duration or filling.

My highest so far (with mediocre resources) is 84%. I sell them at 85 to 100k a crate depending on my BE costs.

Is the 90% cap tied to a +90 on the defense skill? Seems like there should be room for quite a bit lower Thakitillos then, since many professions already have some defense.

Hmm, I wonder if a filling additive could get one down to 25 filling.. might go nicely with the other 25 filling foods

I think you misunderstood my post.

I said it has nothing to do with greed (anyone that is a chef for the cred is in the wrong profession). The point of selling higher would be for the betterment of the chef community as a whole. What I mean by that is by undercutting everyone you are making it harder for new people who really want to be chef (for the love of the profession) to get into the profession. Not to mention you make all the other chefs on your server look like price gougers (Sp?). Both of which in the long run are bad for the chef community as a whole.

If you are going to sell at that price you might as well sell wholesale to someone so they can mark it up, since that is what is probably happening anyway. If you sold wholesale at least you could control who makes money off of you and your BE friends hard work. However it is your product and you can sell it for any price you see fit. I just remember what happened to archs and would hate for this profession to end up like that one.

Hehe, I know if you had a vendor on my server with those kind of prices I would buy you out and just stock it on my vendor.

I disagree, prices are totally irrelevant in this game. Regardless of what I sell product for, it will have little to no impact on any other chef, our goods are consumed far to quickly, and there are not enough chefs to meet the demand. Thanks for your concern however.
