Entertainer(s) professions really only appeal to a handful of the SWG gaming populace.
The former is a real issue. And the very lack of them in a "ATK" capacity only proves my point.
If you could AFK chef and make more money while AFK than ATK just how many ATK chefs do you think there would be?
This is a stupid statement. You make the same money at least atk as afk as an entertainer. The difference is that the atk dancer also gets a 100k tip from me for the chef buff that must be done atk. What brought yo uover here to flame anyway?I am assuming you have some time on your hands as you run your buff bot AFK macro.
Whoa, now, lay off marrow, hispost was not meant to flame chefs. Marrow is a good guy, give him some slack, I know as I used to be a Doc so I know he does good work.

Chefs, entertainers, BE's and docs each sell buffs. The advantage chefs and BE's have is that thier buffs can be sold via a vendor. Docs and entertainers, on the other hand, must be present in order to administer the buff.
Pre CU doc buffs had to be crafted in much the same way as food is crafted. The difference was that the buff could only be administered by a doc. This resulted in many Doc AFK and ATK bots as well as crafting docs and many who were all of the above. There was a large war between afk and atk bots and those who supported each side would sound off often. In the end the devs nerfed the crap out of doc such that buffs only last 45 min, do not require meds, etc.
My comment, though poorly elaborated, was ment for you to think about what it would be like if a chef had to administer the food in order for the diner to get the buff. You would quickly see many AFK chefs out there, just as pre CU there were many afk docs (and a few today). Many folks, after seeing such bots, would make the assumption that all the chefs in the game are money grabbing bots.
If you were a random guy looking for a chef (no, youself does not count :smileytongue
and an entertainer who were ATK, which do you think you would find first? I would argue that there are as many folks who play entertainers for fun as there are chefs. Entertainers just leave them selves logged in just as a chef leaves food on a vendor.
Having had one of the largest med crafting buisnesses on my server pre cu (25 food factories running 24/7) and spent time buffing the public I can tell you, crafting is way easier. Placing a vendor between you and the public makes a very large difference.
The idea around the new buffs was to entice ATK play which I fully support. None of the buffs are must haves and we all lived without them before and can do so now as needed.
ps. I craft with a chef now and read this forum often.
Thanks for the nice hypothetical.
The hypothetical none of us asked for nor care about.
We know what the idea around the new buffs are, we know why there is AFK entertainers, we know why the new changes are in place. All this being said I still dont understand why you came here to post your resume to us and tell us what we already know.
The complaint is there is virtually no reason to play an entertainer. Aside from maybe enjoying being part of a band, ect.
Because of the former they are very hard to find and mostlikley a buff bot.
To give a buff that is so desired by crafters to one of the least ATK played professions in the game is the problem.
I am right now so P.O about this entertainer buff crap. I was looking to get a buff to do some crafting. Went to Theed, one AFK entertainer, same in Coronet. Then went to MO on Dant, fine lot of entertainers in Cantina. None that are AFk or at least answering me when I ask for a buff.
After waiting liek 15 minutes (and starting to write this) I finally get a buff. Great!
However that was for doing some AS crafting, then I need to do one trip for chef and one for artisan lol. And then I might need a ws buff I decide to log on my main to do some weapon crafting.
I don't agree that the buffs are not necessary. If it had been only increasing experimentation/assembly success then I could live without the buffs since there are other options (make another attempt, pyollian, bespin etc) but the resource quality increase will let me go past the cap for my current resources (in best case) and I don't want to make a product that is of less quality than possible.
Different professions should depend on each other, but this is the worst form of dependance where both parties need to be present at same time. Which might be a problem depending on your server and when you play amd especially since a majority of entertainers don't want to play ATK.
I have an amazing idea. If you don't like the buffs and they do you no good, don't use them.
I believe in sharing of opinions, but the same tired arguments keep getting beaten over and over again. "They do no good," "There's no one atk." Yeah, I ran into the second one last night. But you know what? It's a game, and not everything is always going to be easy or wonderful. I would definitely like an excellent spawn of meat on Ahazi, but at my last checking, there wasn't one. So should I come to the forums and complain about how this game is broken and how they need to make sure that xxxx demand is met? Um, no, I should simply be patient, wait, do what I can, and move on with my life. Can't find an atk entertainer? Don't use them, or port to Dantooine and ask around or spam in Bestine begging for a novice dancer or above ...
In the end, choose to use them or don't! I could complain because I don't have +25 in chef buffs because I don't have the money and it's time consuming to make money and I don't even know if it will make a difference in the end and blah blah ... but deal with it. There are discrepancies between people in this game because that is the nature of the game.
I actually used to semi-regularly skulk around the chef boards and I stopped ever since the entertainer upgrade because of all the COMPLAINING. This is the first time back in about a month and the first time I've expressed this opinion, but COME ON PEOPLE. GET OVER IT.

If people did not voice being displeased about certain aspects of the game then the DEVs would think everything is ok , right ?
In the end choose to use them or dont ???
lol is that not the very nature of the problem ???? we dont get to chose because 90% of the time we CANT find an entertainer to buff us.
So the choice is being made for us.

The entertainers buff is something that is forced upon us to satisfy a small minority of players where most of the people playing those professions are not even interested in playing ATK.
Problem with the buffs is not that they do you no good but that they are actually useful and give you benefits that you can't work around. 2% better resource quality is good enough to make the buff a must have, just like buffing for combat was pre-cu. I have spent a lot of hours surveying for resources with less difference in stats than that.
I don't think you can compare it to not a current good spawn of meat or not having money to get 12 points. Both are part of the long-time preparations and decisions you make as crafter (do you want to make the best products possible or is it enough to make something decent but for a cheaper cost). Getting an entertainer buff is just a time-consuming downtime, something that devs wanted to get rid of in other parts of the game.
Bonus to crafting in form of experimentation/assembly/exp bonus is good IMO and not something that you must have because there is other options (getting force experimentation, using food or crafting in research/manufacture city). Still useful enough to look for a crafter when doing a longer crafting sessions but not necessary when you need to do a quick custom order crafting session.
I think being able to "record" an entertainer seesion to be used at a later time is one thing that would make the entratiner buffs less of a burden.
Do you really tip the dancers that much each time you get a buff?

247 experimentation attempts and 2 hours 45 minutes to make 5 Pikatta Pie schematics. This is a far cry from what I can normally do in less than 50 experimentation attempts. I will be doing Vegeparsine and Mandalorian Wine tonite. I am hoping that this was an aberration and not the norm.
I have seen posts of people having similar problems and some saying they have not noticed a change. I make nothing but amazing success schematics and I am wondering what Chefs that do the same are experiencing. It looks like there has been some kind of neff to some crafting bonus in some way. I am not sure if it is to the city bonus of force sensitive bonus, but something is up.
If this is now the way it is, I don't think I will be a Chef much longer. It's a shame because I think my tome here in SWG is short-lived if I don't have my Chef. Jedi and Bounty Hunter simply don't hold my interests for very long and I have done everything else.

Yep but unfortunately I wont be needing the buff much longer.
