You hit the nail squarely on the head. Sony is betting that since it is such a pain that you will get another account jsut like you did for bio-engineer to keep your profession enjoyable. I opt for option 2. APEX Foods going out of business.

Oh, how to respond to this crap?

I have an amazing idea. If you don't like the buffs and they do you no good, don't use them.

First off 93 post count nOOb, many of the Chefs here do not settle for anything less than the very best they can make. This alone makes the buff required.

I believe in sharing of opinions, but the same tired arguments keep getting beaten over and over again. "They do no good," "There's no one atk." Yeah, I ran into the second one last night. But you know what? It's a game, and not everything is always going to be easy or wonderful. I would definitely like an excellent spawn of meat on Ahazi, but at my last checking, there wasn't one. So should I come to the forums and complain about how this game is broken and how they need to make sure that xxxx demand is met? Um, no, I should simply be patient, wait, do what I can, and move on with my life. Can't find an atk entertainer? Don't use them, or port to Dantooine and ask around or spam in Bestine begging for a novice dancer or above ...

So you are Chef for 3 months and now and are anexpert. We have been thru foods not even being worth making, a Chef revamp, dozens of resource dry spells, a combat upgrade which completely changed Chef, 2 hot fixes which changed it again, and now the implementation of a system that is designed to do nothing more than make us go out and get another account. Who the h311 are you to come here and tell us like it is?

In the end, choose to use them or don't! I could complain because I don't have +25 in chef buffs because I don't have the money and it's time consuming to make money and I don't even know if it will make a difference in the end and blah blah ... but deal with it. There are discrepancies between people in this game because that is the nature of the game.

For us there is no choice. They are required because that is just the type of perfectionists we are. As for the Chef suit, try buying it 18 months ago. Mine cost me 40 million for tapes and takes 5 pieces of clothing. I just re-did it in 2 pieces of clothing for less than 10 mil.

I actually used to semi-regularly skulk around the chef boards and I stopped ever since the entertainer upgrade because of all the COMPLAINING. This is the first time back in about a month and the first time I've expressed this opinion, but COME ON PEOPLE. GET OVER IT.

You can kiss my a55 with your "GET OVER IT" To many of us, this is not just a profession, but THE profession. I LOVE my Chef. I am now angry that they powers that be have driven me from it. Many of us have been Chefs for a very long time and actually care about the state of our beloved profession.

For you to come here and tell us to "GET OVER IT" is just silly. Move along and let the real Chefs have a discussion.

I think that the buff needs to be able to be self applied again.

Its my skill points I am spending so I should be able to give myself the buff.

Forced interaction with entertainer players (if you can even find one) is a bad as forced PvPbetween Jedi & Bounty hunters.

Sel none of us are mad at folks who play entertainers.

Have fun in any way you see fit in this cool game we all play.

Its not the player, the profession, or anything else except sh$#ty game mechanics we are mad at.

As usual it seems the people who create the game DONT PLAY the game with any serious commitment or these things would be changed.

Hi there,

I realize that you all are frustrated at your inability to find someone to buff you. But don't blame the entertainers for it. These new buffs were not something we asked for, and if you read the entertainer forums -- many of us don't care for or want them. The new buffs were the typical knee-jerk quick-fix the devs came up with for how to make entertainers "desirable" again after they removed BF from the game. And as is typical, they missed the boat by miles and miles. New buffs are NOT what we needed, but its what we got and it has done nothing to better entertainers. If anything, it has made entertaining EVEN WORSE. Yes, worse. Because now we have renewed hate and animosity directed towards us for something we didn't even ask for or want.

I am not trying to belittle your frustrations at finding an ATK entertainer to buff you. I am not going to give some cliche "get to know your entertainers" type answer that you see from some of the other entertainers when crafters come to our forums to *flame us* for this situation. But please keep in mind we are not your enemy, or someone deliberately trying to hinder your gameplay for our own benefit. Trust me, we get NO benefit from the new buffs. I'm lucky to see one crafter come in asking for the buff each evening I am on (2+ hours/evening). Most crafters either have an alt to buff themselves with, or a guildie that can log in an alt to buff them. Entertainers are still seen as an inconvienience best avoided. Further, even if we did get a bunch of crafters coming to see us, I don't consider tips for buffs to be a real 'benefit' anyway. I want people to come in who want to relax and chat, and well, be actually entertained for a while. The buffs don't promote that at all. They promote crafters coming in, asking for the buff, frequently going AFK while it accumulates, and as soon as the buff is done run right off again so they can do their crafting.

Just a little prespective from the other side,

I think it's safe to say no one has anything but respect for ATK Ents. We are not annoyed at you guys but annoyed at the forced dependence which in my mind is as game breaking as the doc buffs to combat chars pre cu.

To us it's a further time consuming act when as dedicated crafters we spend a huge amount of time crafting. I work and craft in the evenings and if I need to do a lot, weekends and have little or no time to grind my jedi or play my other chars so anything that either prevents me from crafting (I admit I can craft without it, it reduces the value of my time, effort and resources collected by not having the buff) or takes time away from my crafting is a nuisance and an annoyance.

It is unfortunate that this has turned into anger against Ents but the truth is, if there wasn't so little in game for them, there would ahve been more ATK Ents than there are currently which is a huge problem....

"For you to come here and tell us to "GET OVER IT" is just silly. Move along and let the real Chefs have a discussion."

I'm sorry, apparently an alternate opinion is not allowed in a "real Chef" discussion. Nothing that I said in this post was rude, it was true. There is a lot of complaining, and I am indeed tired of it. No name calling in *my* post, only facts, but apparently only "real Chefs" name call.

And since we're supposed to be comparing **** sizes, I was a Chef in Beta, and indeed, a Chef 6 months after release. I stopped playing until I came back three months ago because I had to devote my time to graduating college with a Bachelor's of Science in Physics, instead of putting all my time into keeping up something that wouldn't feed me or my children. So actually, I do know a little something about being a Chef, despite the fact that I decided to start a new account and "only have" 93 posts.

You are rude and your comments were uncalled for. This is also the exact essence of why I stopped coming to the forums. The attitude of the uber Chefs with the loudest mouths is that no one new deserves a chance at getting good or having an advantage. Here's a newsflash: People are going to be better than you, and some of them are going to have been at this game a shorter amount of time than you are.

And my point is valid. You can continue to complain and complain, and then complain some more, or you can move on and do something productive. Do you think that the devs have time to read every complaint post about every single profession ever created? If you were an *intelligent* "real Chef," you'd instead put your time towards inventing creative things that the devs could implement to make the Chef profession better instead of wasting that time flaming nOObs. In case you've forgotten, the devs DID implement a lot of suggestions. Did we have buffs that enhanced skills like terrain negotiation or melee defense when the game started? No, that was justa twinkle in someone's eye when my original chef character was born.

I didn't make the point in the original post, but the point is this: Complaining in half the posts about how you "hate" the new buffing system is going to be ignored by the powers that be. They don't have time for it. You want to become immortal? Freakin' FIX IT. They'll implement it and you'll be able to walk around with your chest held high informing all the nOObs that you were the creative genius behind the new, awesome system. I'm sure your ego would love it.

I'm a chef and an entertainer (master musician/dabble in dancer) and I agree that the requirement that an entertainer be ATK for an artisan to be buffed is a bit extreme. However, the AFK craze has alot to do with the total lack of purpose that entertainers served post-CU/post-BF. There has been very little incentive for players to be ATK over the past few months. So, to affect a change the entertainers need to understand the necessity to be ATK. I don't watch/listen to AFK entertainers and I don't tip them. If I can't get the buff from an ATK entertainer then I just live without.

However, I feel that SOE could throw us a bone and make interaction easier. I don't agree with the recording idea as many entertainers don't have room in their spec to facilitate a vendor. Requiring them to sell their recordings on other people's vendors is just exchanging our dependence on them for their dependence on a merchant. Not really fair. Instead I think just adding a "Request Buff" tab to the radial menu under "Listen" or "Watch" might be the answer. Just click "Request Buff" then select your buff. From an entertainer's perspective it would be nice. I hate having to change instruments to give a buff (can't target others while using two of my instruments), so having a "self-serve" system would be nice. Perhaps even having a "Buff Duration" stat to show how long the buff would be (nice to shop around). Maybe a system message or g-mail to indicate that someone is getting a specific buff would add some awareness of how popular the artisan buffs are. Of course asking this of SOE might be too much since they can't even add a system message to indicate when you have reached max duration

BLAH BLAH BLAH

There ya go, I paraphrased it for those that did not want to read this.

The fact is that I have been here the whole time, 19 months in fact, as a Chef. I manage 72 factories and vendors that turn about 220 million each and every month in foods. That's just foods. Nothing else. I think I have earned the right to voice my opinion. As for you, like I said, move along nOOb. Let the real Chefs have a discussion.

having to be grouped to get the buffs is rediculous anyway. should go back to just watch, and then pick which buff. or just give all the buffs at once.its going back to pre cu where you had to beg to get a buff and having to depend on others is getting to be a joke also. so, for the off heavy play time crafters, you are screwed because you cant find a dancer.
