Thread: Improving Cantinas
Can you place vendors in the cantina? Do they register on the planetary map like the static Cantinas do? If they do I guess that is tied to the mayors skill to be able to register the city? Finally, right now I take it a cantina is just 1 big open room? Are there any other buildings like the cantina that I can visit to see what it looks like?

Gambling: Players can sit at a table and actually gamble with each other. cards, dice, whatever. Maybe even cheat and get a TEF if they are caught. Maybe even remove the gambling machines from towns and put them there?
Quests: I like the idea of random quests spawning there. (the seedier type of missions). Heck, has anyone ever played a game of D&D that didn't start at some seedy tavern? <-joke
- Adding drinking/eating animations. Carry what you have in hand, walk around, sip, eat, etc.
- Add BOARD GAMES that artisan engineers can craft. You initiate a game like a trade, a box comes up with the game and you play. Holochess, etc, etc could all be added, along with bets of who wins. These could only be played in a cantina to make it worth going to them.
- Once again, merchants/bartenders that don't require any merchant skill to use.
- Cantinas could have a built in 'storage hopper' that works as a bank/container but is tied to the 150 items that can be thrown in the cantina.

Decreasing the amount of lots is not an option since that is tied into the size of the building, and they would need to shrink the building.
I had a feeling that was why, they could have just used a spread sheet table, but noooo they had to be all fancy. These guys aren't very good programmers =/
Anywho, I can't think of anything that hasn't already been said I just felt the need to rag on the programmers lack of foresight again.

Should merchants be able to place those same vendors that cut chefs out of the picture? Also remember, player cantinas will gradually heal fatigue when no entertainers are present anyway.
didn't they already do this to use with npc cantinas? wouldnt be that surprised to see it happen in pc ones as well.

Yeah who really designs a cantina without a chef in mind, i mean what the heck is up with that.
They ended up designing this whole game without chefs in mind.
These are some great ideas, I guess the only ones I want to echo for an exxtra vote are:
Cantina = food/chem factory for the owner.
Allow simple vendor for non-merchant player/owner
Ambience needed! - Background chatter, NPCs, constant music, possible mission givers
To be honest, I have never been satisfied with the background music in the game, they really need to add the ability to place music emitters in player structures. Maybe this ties in with the jukebox idea above if no entertainers are working?
