Thread: Poll: Would a 5% Resource Bonus be good for chefs?
Few floras are all-stat over 900 let alone 950.
Our foods and drinks rely on a combination of two stats per resource.
We have four lines of experimentation.
This is only making our foods and drinks better, I am all for it.

Everything else is just icing on the cake (no pun intended). Having said that you dont need resources that are 900+ in every area.If Chefs recieved the 5% and the Artisan buff remained 1% I would be all for it. However if Artisans will recieve an increase also then I am totally against it. Sorry folks but I am tired of Artisan food being a number #1 seller.
That rather sneakily my thinking behind it
Give chef foods that much needed boost, it won't get us the whole way there, but it'll help.

Hmm... since artisan is also tied to items other than food, I don't know how successful we would be in that area.
You right, hell I make tons of Artisan items. My swoop vendor is super busy all the time. But I also know what foods/drinks I sell the most of too.
Good point, it might just unbalance artisan weapons and armor too!
::shifty::
One can also argue that human artisans can be 14 points. Two extra points to experiment with outshines chefs having an extra 4% blanket bonus to resource values by leaps and bounds.

I suspect you will find most of those opposed are those who have near perfect resources, and are very established (ahem...read: have a near monopoly) on the markets. The increase of a 5% buff will give little advantage for them, however it will give an advantage to newer Chefs, and those who are small time, as they can't afford to stockpile or buy the really uber resources.
From this POV...the 5% increases the avg qual of our foods, and opens up the market a little bit more for up and coming Chefs. surely thats a good thing for our customers, and good for most of us...unless you are looking to try and monopolise a market.
On that basis, I'm all for a 5% increase buff.
(And also, if the resource stats have a bit more breathing room, then perhaps we wouldn't need to purchase the very best of the best resources, decreasing our costs too.)

Don't assume you know other people's motives. That's like if I were to assume all people for the higher buffs are bad chefs who don't have the ability to make good foods or improve themselves in any matter without the devs help. We wouldn't want to assume that, would we?
My resources are not "perfect" enough for 5% to hurt them - it might make some of them pretty darned close to perfect, but I doubt I'd lose out on much of the buff on any foods. If anything the 5% would simply make my foods that much better. My point isn't that this buff would harm us - I do think a 5% buff could harm other professions however and I see no reason for ours to get special treatment.

As long as I can give the buff to myself with only novice entertainer, I am all for it....otherwise I will have 15 skill points to spend somewhere else now and my crafting just became an even more pain in the arse and just not worth it.
I agree with Sling

I'm in favor of the 5% buff for Chefs also. I feel that the Devs need to do something to give Chefs an edge again.

Meh... personally I am torn. I agree that Chef needs a major boost but:
1. I really dunno how much of a boost this would give Chef's. As I see it... the problem is most foods now are simply less useful than they were pre-cu. Back then it was almost essential that any fighter had a constant supply of Brandy and Canape... now, foods are mostly "optional" as most of their benefits border either or"negligible", or so short-lived so as to be almost pointless.
Good point Moby. It would be nice if there were some usefull foods now other than the top 5-6. and it wil take some sort of a re-vamp to make it so. %5 bonus to blood chowder, or deut pyro or canape or synthsteak is not going to make or break them. I was not really thinking that part of my argument through enough.
He Higgy, when the get in there adding that 5% can you slip in fixing the timers and instance foods?
oh and don't forget /pietoss ![]()

Not gonna happen, the chef buff is given by dancers, so you'd need novice dancer, though the artisan buff can come from novice entertainer ![]()
I don't see it as being a big problem. On Wanderhome I'll just have to run to theed and get a buff, then run home ( unless they start performing in town again. ).
On Radiant, lets see your shop is outside Coronet or it was last I checked, someone should be in Coronet dancing you'd think. Might waste 5 min getting it, but a master dancer twi'lek buff duration for this is like 3 hrs 30 min I think or thereabouts
.
Lol YES... before they fix anything... add /pietoss!! (But WHILE youre in there... tell them to bring back all the old food durations and effects!!!
