That sounds great!

BTW, hello everyone! I'm Tracy from Valcyn, Novice chef.

PS I'm pretty sure eating in UO letting you gain skills faster was a myth. AFAIK it just increased your regen rates. /shrug.

I think we should stick with better, longer buffs, really.

I don't like the idea of a 15% XP bonus for the winning faction in the Galactic Civil War for the same reason: XP isn't always going to be useful. In about a month I think we'll start seeing a reasonable number of people with maxed out characters, or close enough to max that they no longer care about XP.

But a +500 Willpower buff that lasts for 2 hours is something that will always be useful.

For my purposes, I really just wanted a chef to be a passive class, like Weaponsmith or Armorsmith. I want to make food, put it on my vendor and then go out and shoot things with my rifle. Doctors can already "serve" buffs to a character, so IMO it's a bonus feature of the Chef class that they don't have to be present in order to buff people. I wouldn't want to lose that.

xp will always be useful for new players and players that change there profession.

The reason for exp bonus was so it would be a feature alot of people wanted but no one needed .. So it would only be good but not neccisary to have a "meal"

\if you wanted to change the exp too something else just think of something benifical that wasnt over powering.

Perhaps 5-35% faster ham regeneration rates?

I personaly like the exp idea the best .. I don't think there will be a day when not one person in the world is striving for exp

Whynot have both!?

The meal is a combination of the 3 items of entrees, desserts and mixology. put together it creates a meal. BUT they could still be used individually to get those support buffs to HAM. So if he/she is more interested in XP they could do the meal thing. (which could be available in camps too?) If xp is not primarythen use the individual items for the support buff to HAM.

well the meal wouldnt be given into the persons invantory it would work basicly like healing wonds just use a timer and target needs to be sitting..

working at camps is fine but depending on the size of the game it would work at reduced exp bonus

like amedics wounds heal beter at a rangers camp then a scouts

As long as there is no Trade window involved

Add a new crafted item to basic artisan called a plate or a serving set.

This would cost 2 metal lets say

Then once you put 1 dessert 1 entrie and 1 drink into the dish or serving set

it would add all the buffs together as well as increase a players exp rate given the chefs cooking skill level.

The buff would then be used the same way but instead of using the meal ticket it would require you to use the plate.

The Meal buffs wouldnt be charged to your food and drink bar and last the one and half hours instead of the few seconds.

Also change this so negitive effects Beverages/food can NOT be used in a meal.

Making the Tatoonie sunburn off limits and limiting it too drink and foods that had no ill effects.

Example.

Berry Wine +110 health +110action +110mind

Rythcate +200 str +200 quickness +200 focus

Vegeparsine +160 con +160 willpower

This would make the buffs alotbeterand last one and a half hour duration would make them useful enough to care about..

This would not make the meal a easy way to get endless action points for 30 mins ... one could infact do quite well Ordering a custom meal that would help a certain stat..

This would make people "order meals" for the stats they wanted exactly example someone wanted a Willpower meal

Drink

Ice Blaster for +150 willpower

Dessert

Dweezle +150 willpower +150 stamina

Entrie

Vegeparsine +160 con +160 willpower

This would be a good willpower food giving them +460 willpower for an hour in a half making it useful for most everyone to stop by and visit the Hotel for there daily meal.

This would be a way to give chef some longer duration buffs with the weaker foods and make them good too use.. instead of waisting there food bar for these buffs they could get a meal which was alwayss one and a half hours of the buff...

I really like this idea now

this might become alot of fun making up custom meals which people can order

This even make it posible to build a restraunt and have it work in game using your house.. Imagine

You can design a Menu and have custom names and what the buffs did , all you need to do is make it a Email and send it too your customers ..

This makes the Player owned Cantina/Med Centers even more useful you can turn them into Player owned Cantina/Medcenter/Hotels

This idea is really comming along if anyone is good at writting I would like us all too get together and write a good report on how to do this and make it as easy as we posibly can for the developers..

If we can make it easy then we might have a shot at making it a part of the game but im not the best at explaining things and I think every chef player should have there own input ...

Think about this idea some and try too make sence of my jiberish.

I love the idea, but from a design standpoint, it might be an easier sell if packaged using existing programming.

== suggested modification == (to take nothing away from the original poster)

Let the buffs remain as such, and make a "meal" be a package that can only be served in a hotel or campsite.

To serve a meal, the chef must have 1 each of the following: entree, dessert, drink. When served the "meal" the participant receives a full buff for all items (stacked), the buffs will last as long as the longest duration, and the recipient will be placed at full drink/food. Meals can only be served to clients with an empty tummy. :-)

A bit of number crunching, perhaps, but all the mechanics for that form of solution is in place.

Oh - the benefit of such an approach (I forgot to mention this) is that you would get stacked buffs of all three even though to consume that much food individually would not be within your food/drink range.

Excellent Post. The xp bonuses might be a little generous, but if they were integrated into the buffs food would be greatly (and uniquely) enhanced. Endgame still favors stat buffs though.

I agree with the buffs intergrated like this you could remove the xp buff

People would want there 1 hour and a half buffs

but I still think the exp should be enhanced based on the cooking skill line because that would make food that much more important.

We want to provide buffs that everyone will find useful all the time, PvP, PvE, Master BH or Novice Brawler, not just to people who are currently leveling.

Faster HAM regeneration rates is why I keep pushing for us to buff secondary stats more. Buffing Willpower gives you faster mind pool regeneration. Buffing Focus makes your existing mind pool last longer. A food that buffs willpower by +500 would increase most people's mind pool regeneration rate by 100%.

I would be in favor of foods that buff things other than stats, I just don't think buffing XP rate is the way to go. Pretty soon you're going to see a lot more Battleground action, and people who spend all day in a PvP battleground won't need any food that buffs their XP.... cause they won't be getting any XP.
