It will be soon....just not right away.

... Done ...
That really dosnt takes so much time and is a hot fix avaible tomorrow on live servers....
Would push some of our foods to 40 minutes of duration.
Instead they are making HUGE plans to redesign which is nice, but needs much time... and will produce new bugs...
The fact is we want something NOW ... if i wanted to play my chef in 2004 i would have told my GF that id like a copy of SWG for XMAS... but im allready paying 3 months for NO FUN but GRIEFING
Personally I'm glad the road to Master Chef is slow ond tortureous, I think it makes the title of Master actually mean something.
The game was released with too many problems in the professions but I'm sure it will be slowly fixed.
Sir Vimes, could you possibly suggest to this developer that as a quick fix (that would shut us up for a while) they just lengthen the duration of our buffs and double the strength of them (except for Sunburns)?
I think for a hot fix they should just multiply all buffs Durations by 10... that would make the longest duration food 60 mins.
Then they could multiply all stat buffs by 2 ........... exept the sunburns.
yeah that would make alot of chefs happy while they wait.
I agree..duration is the big thing that needs fixing...IMHO...
Look at medicine and drugs (spice, et al). In real life, drugs only last so long, usually a relatively short time for the best benefit, or in the case of illicit drugs, the high might last only a few minutes. Either way, when one eats food, you feel the effects for a longer time. Eat a nice steak or veggie burger and the taste and good feeling lasts a while.
I suggest this...have two durations for our food. First, the duration that the food gives maxium benefit. Then, after that time is up, the benefit decreases at theSAME RATEit takes your stomach to empty. So, some benefit is still there while the food or drink are in your system, but it gradually wears away until the stomach is empty.
just my 2 cr for now...
Though I am a little disappointed that we'll have to wait eeeeven longer for some love, I'd like to thank Vymes for his hard work and devotion to the culinary arts~ He doesn't get paid and is working hard for our benefit, Thanks alot V!

Um, sorry to break your heart here, but it's never that easy.
They have to assess how changes to the chef food will effect the rest of the gameplay. Imagine if everyone had regen rates increased by 200-300 for 40 minutes to an hour... it would be insane. No one would die. They'd have to increase the difficulty of missions and mobs just to balance out the fact that food manipulates the gameplay that seriously.
That's just ONE factor in why it takes so long for them to do a balance pass. You have to get a lot of important people into one room and come out with some sort of master plan on how to attack the problem without screwing up the game.
The bottom line is that buffs in any game are seriously powerful and can sway battles both in PVP and PVE. I'd rather them take the time to think things out instead of just doing some lazy multiplication code and screw up the entire game's balance.
liv its too late those buffs that are powerful and change the tied of PvP are entertainers and doctor buffs now.
we are just the crappy alchemist class every game has that can make almost worthless buffs taht can stack with useful buffs.

Doctors can already do all that and more..
Thanks SirVimes. It is easier to wait for the changes we need if we know they are going to happen with a reletive timeline I can accept.(If we're fixed by Thanksgiving:yay! Halloween: double yay!)
I agree with Liv, but for slightly different reason. (Note, this is my opinion, has nothing to do with any discussion with the chef developer.)
This profession has a very unfinished quality to me. It seems like they got the basics down, and were off to a good start, but never really went back to finish it. They just threw it together without any tweaking or or polishing.
I don't see a quick fix helping what is already a rush job. I would rather see them do it right, once and for all. Might take a little longer, but would be better in the long run, in my opinion.
Besides, with the database they have, I don't know if it would be as quick as you guys think. they would have to go into the databases and change a lot of formulas. I don't think they would be able to do one command for all food, they would have to do it one at a time...and they double check to make sure there was no typos...then test it to make sure the numbers they put in does not break stacks again or something like that....
If a lot of people want me to ask the developers to do this, I will (although I can't promise any response to this request)....but personally, I would rather just wait for them to do the job right.
