Thread: Brandy pricing discussion

Hmm inflated prices
Was hoping chef suppliments wouldn't go like tailor tissues and be based on the what people to pay rather than a reasonable profit. If chefs start charging loads, BE's will, and prices will remain high. Greed
If I had a way to prevent people from buying more than 2 or 3of an item I would charge lower probably. I do not want one person coming and buying everything off my vendor though. Profit isn't why I wanted to be a chef. I can make profit just by mining. If I advertised my foods at 5cpu or so I would have people at my shop almost instantly buying everything out and then probably selling to those people that got there too late.
I dont get it... Just take the resources to the BE and give him 10K for 3minutes in order to make a schematic, then produce the tissues yourself... I found this to be very inexpensive.. I made 500 tissues for about 50K which created 20 crates of brandy at +351 for 47mins & 48 filling. Sold the crates fo r100K each in about 8 minutes.. It was easy and rather inexpensive. Stop asking the BE's to make the tissues for you.
The reason I wanted to buy tissues is because I dont want to take advantage of people. BEs work just as hard as everyone else for their skills. I dont really like it when people come to me wanting schematics unless I know them so therefore its not really something I feel good about doing toother people. Funny thing too...I hand grinded food for this BE so he could get user exp when he was levelling up. I also bought all of my prepatch supplements from him as well as buying meat from him whenever he had it. Yes, I DO need to make other arrangements. So far my attempts at this havent been fruitful. I guess thats my fault for only bothering to build a relationship with one BE. In the long run if I cant find a BE willing to work a deal for that seems more appropriate, Ill just pick up BE and buy my meat from rangers and eliminate them totally from the equation. Ive already talked to several chefs that are doing this. Cookie cutter chefs, here we come

The rangers have started to catch on to the BEs high demand on meat. Price on high quality meat went up to 15 cpu on Lowca.
So that could inflate the prices even more. I currently sell a crate of broad spectrum for 35k and make a good profit.
I dont care if you chefs sell it for 350k, I dont have a problem with other people making money. ![]()

The highest quality meat on Eclipse is currently selling at around 125-150 cpu.
This is "In-Shift" meat.
Every time i see someone saying high quality meat is 10-20 cpu i want to cringe.
If only it could be found in bulk at those prices, I would be soooo happy.

For people that NEED the best they will pay for it. This is true in RL as well. Now is there a difference in 350k vs 500k other than greed? I'm not sure. I can't imagine someone buying 10 crates of that stuff at one time, but I guess it might happen. It is supply and demand. Right now the demand far exceeds the supply. The line between just running a good business and Greed is very small.
They are currently lined up about 40 emails deep on Gorath to do just that.
And I thought I was doing alright on money. Some people have a whole lotta money, and nothing to spend it on.
I disagree, the "lower class" or those not wealthy enough to pay for the high end brandy can buy Muon and non-BE bandy until they get established enough up to the finer foods in the game.
Kinda like RL, Lower income more appt to use drugs to get buffed, while wealthy eat .. Health foods and fine wines.. etc
You know, I thought I'd chime in and say something here. There are numerous threads in this forum where chefs complain that they can't find BE's to supply tissues, or that BE tissues are too expensive. But now as a BE who would like to try to supply inexpensive tissues to chefs I come here and read a thread like this. Here is my problem with this. It seems as though adding BE tissues actually doubles the value of your brandy by your own admission. You guys are charging 300k-500k for a crate of brandy. Which means that for every crate of tissues you get, you see an additional profit of 150k-250k.
Now, I'm all for capitalism, and I'm in no way in need of money. But this is very troubling from a BE's standpoint. All I've been hearing from chefs so far is how they can't afford to pay 50k-75k for a crate of tissues. As a potential customer as well as supplier, if I were to charge what I think is a fair price of 25k/crate for tissues, that would mean I'd have to sell a minumum of 12 crates to you guys before I could afford a single crate of your brandy, and at the same time you guys are making millions off those same crates. Hmmm. But wait, it goes deeper than that. Suppose I raise my prices to reflect the value that I as a BE am giving you. Lets say I want 75% of the profit that you generate from my crate of tissues (very reasonable wouldn't you say?). That would mean pricing my crate at around 110k/crate.But wait, there's more. The ranger that supplies me meat now sees that I'm paying him 20cr/u of meat, and selling what I make from that meat at around 200cr/u. Think he's going to be happy about that? Uh uh, in fact I couldn't in good faith cut him out like that. And so on, and so forth.
I'm glad you guys are doing well, you've stuck in there for a very long time, but I think you're creating a monster here, I really do. And I think what this will result in is that with this sort of pricing you'll only be able to every afford to put BE additives in brandy and nothing else, and this will only fan the flames of those complaining about BE pricing.
My factories have actually been running for the past day cranking out tissues for a chef on my server, but now there is simply no way that I'll sell him those tissues, knowing what is being done with them (his price is in fact 500k/crate for brandy). When this madness ends or I find a chef that has a more equitable price sharing arrangement I will go back to supplying chefs with the tissues that you so badly desire, but I can't in good conscience participate in this.
