Thread: Poll: Should Changes Stay or Should They Go?

I just achieved master chef a week ago... I'm not holgrinding either, it's something I want to do in SWG. I like the way things are working now. I agree with the majority of this thread that the current revamp should be worked on longer and not rushed. If there's going to be a HAM reconfiguring then this revamp should definitely be put off for now.

Keep milk, Keep chef hats and aprons(I want to be able to color them) and all the other misc. stuff

Let us go through the revamp pick what we want, and pick what we dont need fromold and new.

Give us a complete list of all the foods in revamp and we will compare and edit the revamp how we see fit. Remember we are the experts at this game, not the Devs we play this game all day and all week. There is a diffrence from coding the game and playing the game. I am sure we can work a inbetween.

Soo my vote. Put off revamp, Keep milk, and work with us for adjustments on later updates after combat ham changes so people can get used to the changes and determine what is best for themselves.

Ok, everybody has some problems with these changes. Nobody thinks this is perfect. However, assuming that we get the changes that we are asking for in this thread, do you want the changes to go in or do you want chefs to stay as they are? Again, this is assuming we get some fixes in and we get some tweaks?

I want the changes to go in. The new system is definately more interesting, and I'd rather have 20 good foods than 3 very good ones and 30 that just plain suck.

Add Milk to the Live part, and shelve this revamp until they get these vaunted Combat Changes in. It looks like our food effects have tailored to fit in with the new combat, but until that gets in (another 2 months at least) we will be pretty sad.

Keep it the same for now, tweek somethings, maybe down the road inplement it.
Test it out for a bit on TC till all the BUGS are worked out. DONT RUSH THIS , WE GOT TIME!
I love the chef profession and im not even a chef, and i think the new revamp is kinda cool too, but, wait till the new combat system is in and make sure things are worked out.
I just dont want to have less of a mind ham than i already do

Add in the milk (such as it is), couldn't care less about chef clothes, but hold off on the new system until the combat system it is designed to work with is implemented.

I like the new re-vamp. That said, I think it does need some tweaks. If most of what sir Vimes is asking for in his report goes through, for the most part, I am all for this re-vamp. We are going to be filling a buffing niche that is currenlty not filled in SWG. (well, okay skill tapes, but at least you can buy more food, skill tapes go byebye when clothing they are in decays. )

That said, I too wish they would wait until the new combat system goes live. I believe the reason we are seeing fewer stat buffs and more skill buffs is because stats may be less important to buff in the future, and buffing your skills will be more the way to go. At least I'm going to try and stay optimistic about that.

We have been bugged for so long, in some cases to the point where we were useless, that I hate to have this go live before the new combat system and have to struggle again with being less than useful. We really won't know until the new combat system is in place, which is why I wish wewere testingit and thechef re-vamp on TC at the same time. It'sgoing to be a different game than the one we are playing now.

I vote to go with the re-vamp, but hold off until the new HAM system is in place. No matter what, I believe we will still be mostly catering (pun intended) to a small highly educated group of players who want that extra edge. I find the majority of people don't use food or know what it does. In my PA of about 60 people, only about a dozen are using food (they use a log though, lol), even though those dozen (and myself) have extolled the virtues in guildchat and on my PA's website. I don't think food will ever really catch on with 3/4's of the player base. Good thing, since there are so few chef.

Well, it's kinda hard to lay down sentiment to a metric, but I've always been a numbers guy...

So far we have (roughly):

18 people choosing to stay with the current system. Most of these votes want to wait for combat revamp.
3 people choosing to go forth with the new system.
2 kinda ambiguous posts where they are really riding the fence or waiting for more testing.

Nearly everyone wants the new milk system
Nearly everyone wants the new chef clothes

Everything else people were a little hazy on and I can't really measure it.

SirVimes, if we had a buffet style discussion where you laid out specific issues and asked for a "yes" or "no" opinion, and the chefs could elaborate if they wanted to. This would give a pretty clear indication of what's ok now and what needs to be addressed if the devs really want to push most of this through. I think it would be helpful.

Someone already said it best. Keep the good of the old and add the good of the new, then just tweak everything around a bit. And most importantly GET RID OF THE 1 HOUR OR 45 MINUTE DIGESTION. I hate using other professions as comparisons but as a doctor after a buff of 2 hours is over, you immediately buff again. What makes chef useful is that they are smaller buffs that can be used without the need of another player. Giving such a huge time limit stinks. If they are worried about people abusing the foods, then raise the resource requirements therefore driving up the price or something. An organic limiting system would be best.

Does anyone think this game is hard as it stands right now?

Pfft, you are obviously not PvP'ing if you think this game is "easy". Without substantial mind & focus buffs, many PvP'ers don't stand a chance against the riflemen & gtef poisoners ... all I see in this Chef revamp is a takeaway of the one thing that gives us half a chance in PvP.

Not a Chef, gave it up after waiting several months for changes that we're just starting to see a glimmer of now ... but what I see, I don't like. Back to the drawing board, devs.

The new system sounds great so far, dispite it's short comings. I think with the changes made in your outline the system should be good to go. The one think I like most is the BE changes. Really makes having a BE important, although it seems you really need to have the BE inhancements to make the food good. That is fine, but if that is the case we need the meat requirement for BE enhancements lowered. Resource requirements for drink containers could also be lowered. Otherwise the system seems like movement in the right direction, as long as it doesn't feel like a nerf.
