Thread: Poll: Should Changes Stay or Should They Go?

I'm not a chef, but i am a player that depends on chef food heavily. The proposed changes would eliminate my favorite foods, and make the remainder useless to me.

As a huge chef customer, i would oppose the changes.

Personally, I welcome the change. It gets very boring making the same few schematics every week. I chose Chef for a change in crafting professions, and I like it, but it's gotten old very fast. I'm looking forward to making a larger variety of foods. I do agree that the revamp needs work, but what profession doesn't?

Can't wait to cook, instead of running factories all the time.

With Novice Chef not able to have a viable grind to Mixology I, or Entrees I, the changes need help.

With the WHOLE COOKING TREE having no schematics, yet nerfing most of our 'good' buffs, the changes need help. (Try filling out the cooking tree with new tricks, and leave us to our old devices and HELP some of the old recipes rather than borking them entirely) In other words, put the popular stuff back, take some of the repeat or unused recipes and move them over to the cooking tree with thier instant buffs or skill mod buffs.

Just because of those two things, I dont want to see changes live until a dev can TALK to the chef community, and find out why there is alot of dissention about the stuff, and what they can do to fix it.

I have been considering dropping chef if they just patched this in without ANY time for us to help them develop it. The changes need work, and some real thought as to how they are reworked, by listening to the majority in this thread.

The milk is awesome. The hats and aprons are awesome. Send that to live.

The rest of it? From what I've seen, they are trying to pass off more broken stuff to us. I say it needs to stay on test until next publish.

Not a chef but a lover of chef foods and long tim efan of nikkii wanderhomes top chef

Puting these changes live before the ham reduction makes no since whatsoever IMHO there is not one single food on the new list i looked at and said wow im going to order a crate of that as soon as she gets a chance to make it. There are 2 that i would like if i was still a weaponsmith but the new buffs are on the low side of pathetic and would just force me to spend less cr overall and trade that for my much more valuable game time waiting to get buffs in coronet then flying back to my stomping grounds on Dant in the boonies or on Rori both 2 hops away so even more time wasted on shuttle sitting

The devs *might* be telling the truth about these foods being great for the new ham system but thats a min of 2 months off and more like 6 most likely. However these are the same devs that said that holos would always play a roll in the jedi process and that they where not going to be changing that system to artificialy limit the number of jedi. The same Devs that tried to tell the CHs that the creature revamp wouldnt be a nerf to masters, same ones that have been promising carbineers/pikeman Ham reductions since launch ect.

They are. Problem is, anyone can wear them apparently. Not just Dom Arts artisans and chefs.

/sigh.

they should go in, cause they are wanted, but they should be limited to domestic artists and chefs.

Keep system as is, add in milk and chef clothes. By the time the new HAm system comes around, there won't be any chefs left. Or those that are around will have no customers willing to buy anything.

I'm only 0044 and thats all I intend to be, so here's my opinion, for what its worth.

The suggested changes are interesting, and could probably make our professon stand out, but they obviously have not been given the time needed to tweak for the upcoming patch.

Keep us as we are for now please, with the assumption that we get milk and the chef clothes.

thanks.

I do not like this revamp/nerf and I vote that the revamp get revamped OR send in the revamp, but leave in our best sellers. I also think asking for 30 mins instead of a couple mins after the "buff" wears of is WRONG aswell. Why give it a set time? Each food is different has different durations, so ifthe buffwears off in 15 mins let the customer/myselfrebuff, if it wears off in 25mins let them rebuff. Why set a time? If I eat something during lunch and I get hungry mid afternoon I will eat, I dont wait til supper just because that is my "next" designated eating time. (and no I am not fat,, not yet atleast:smileytongue

The OLD food/drink "empty" times worked great why change something that isnt broke. The only thing that was broke with that old system was the meter that showed how full you are. It isnt even really broke, just a little quarky at times.

as long as the stomach issue is fixed, I'd take the changes...

I seriously think everyone is grossly underestimating the damage reduction foods...honestly. experiment those to take a few more hits, and have a bit less filling on that 85% one...and you've got yourself something that would sell out just as quickly as BoH, and be much much much more in demand.

stat buffs being less than doctors...fine, I think we should just concede defeat on that one. I doubt that SOE is going to ever change the fact that doctors will just be better than us on that one. but at least now we have things that they can't compete with.

but again it depends on that whole stomach issue...and if there are any bugs...those need to get fixed too.

chefs have a lot of sympathy, always have been...mainly cause we've never seriously said "nerf the doctors so they suck as bad as we do"...like so many others have said before for other professions...we've already lost a lot of friendliness on our own forum, lets not lose what support we have from the other professions by asking for doctor buffs to be downgraded...

I think that if we had the skill tapes, and resources that we did on live, on TC (where is that infernal character copy)...that we'd be seeing results that would be more acceptable...but as it is, most of the testers are dealing with sub-par resources that many of us wouldn't even think of using...ever...just to get an idea of what some of these foods do.

Disclaimer: I have not yet had a chance to play with the food buffs on TC. I am working on the current info as posted on the boards here.

I think the changes should go ahead, as long that they leave a couple of the high-mind drinks in the game until the combat revamp lands. The biggest problem is that this revamp is aimed at the new system, but the new system is not going to arrive for a month or two yet, leaving Chefs in the lurch badly. Thus, put the changes in, but also leave in Fishak and BoH for now as they stand and then pull them later when the combat changes come.

Add milk (and only one type, change the recipes to just say 'milk' ), add the clothing. Possibly the BE supplements as long as the ridiculous meat requirements are lowered. Possibly the containers as long as the resource requirements are lowered or you actually get some bang for the buck-the largest container should add a *LOT* of charges to the stack if they require that many resources to make.

As for the rest of it, there's no reason that Chefs should be stuck operating on the 'new combat system' when none of the other buff classes are. Waiting till the combat changes are ready gives a halfway decent amount of time to test the recipes, fix bugs and come up with more effects so we can keep all our present schematics. (I mourn the loss of Antakarian Fire Dancer, such a great name)

I really really like the current Live system. It works, and it's been ok for a few months now. Brining the new system online in a rush, like it seems they want to, is a big mistake.

First off the buffs fitting the "Next Gen"combat system better than the current one, is total crap. No offence, why put something out before it's usefulness is useable. Wait till the new system is out before you modify the buff people.

Second, the system that's in place now works fine. Why are you messing with it? The dependance on more people outside of yourself is good for some but not for others. It's really an open thing here. I haven't played TC, cause I really only have time for my chef, but it sounds like there's a bit more balancing to do, even considering the eventual "Next Gen"combat system.

And finally, the odds of bugs or other FUBAR things in chef(or anything)is just too great. Take your time releasing the new mods. You rushed the game to release (if you don't think the game wasn't broken on launch day, let me know what your smokin') and you are paying for it now. Alot of my friends have stopped playing or are only giving the game a few moreweeks to become Jedi in hopes to find something new to try. Elsewise they're outta here.

That's my $0.02... Keep the current live system and let the developers work on things more. A total re-bugging of the Chef profession would really tick alot of people off.
