Thread: The Confessions of a Frustrated Correspondent
Void is his ingame name. I have always dealt with him as Void. If you can't understand the reference, copy and paste my post into notepad/wordpad and do a replace of Void with whatever name you understand.
As to the difference between someone being PAID and someone volunteering for a job, there is none, other than the monetary consideration. Both can still be fired for not doing their job. Void didn't listen. He quit on his own accord. Good riddance to him. Void's job was to summarize everything FOR TH, so that TH could help the ENTIRE community in a timely fashion, not just the SLs(who, from reading the SL board, believe they are the only broken class).
Having dealt with Void in the past both ingame and on the boards, I can tell you that he did his post for only one reason... He wanted attention. He thought he was wronged so he blabbered about it as loud as possible without even stopping to think. I had to deal with this as a vendor for his "MALL"(suppossedly trademarked so that noone else could use the name? LAUGH) and also had to deal with it on the Gorath Galaxy boards as did everyone else who read those boards. What makes this worse is his claims at almost being a College graduate with a major in COMMUNICATIONS. I probably wouldn't be so hard on him if not for that fact. To think he is going to be out in the job world shortly with this type of attitude for his job for the TYPE of job he is being educated for is unthinkable.
If you think others aren't frustrated, you are wrong. However, you do NOT see others venting their frustration on the people who are trying to help them. I would like to thank SirVimes for not doing what Void did although I know he has probably been frustrated as much if not more along with the rest of our community.
I would also like to apologize to SirVimes for responding to the thread after his post, but quite frankly, after the responses I read on the SL boards, someone else needs to speak up to those who are trying to bully their opinions as facts. Jester was called names as he stepped in and tried to calm the situation down. I'm hoping that the SL board is just like all other boards and only the most vocal that are heard do not actually represent the majority.Otherwise, Squad Leaders won't make it far in their chosen profession if that is their way of 'leading'.
Hmmm... unless I'm mistaken, TH is the go between for the Developers and the Correspondents, not the Developers and the Players(You can't get anything done if one person has to talk to 250K people at once, just try to follow along on the discussion board, you will get lost quickly). So how is his job equated to doing the Correspondents' job when they fail to listen? It is YOUR responsibility as a community to get rid of your correspondent if he is not doing his job. It is YOUR responsibility as a community to make sure Sony picks the next best replacement to DO the job. If you want to get mad at SOE, get mad that they didn't make the Correspondent's postions PAID jobs with SOE employees filling them. Don't get mad at the person who was DOING his job.
I'm NOT saying Void was lazy in any manner. I'm NOT saying Void didn't lay out perfectly reasonable and detailed responses to the devs. However, if he did not respond in the manner asked of him, he DID NOT do his job in that respect.
Settle down, you brought this to the chef boards and I'm responding HERE since you seem to believe this encompasses CHEFs for some reason. I never said you couldn't post a link.
I just said it wouldn't help you in the eyes of the overall community. Of course that's my opinion, but you seem to value it highly as you responded to it as if it were fact. If the overall community accepts F*** as a valid argument, I'm sure it's time for me to find another community. From reading the chef board most of the time though, I'm pretty sure that they don't accept petty language as valid arguments. Fromwhat I've read on the SL board(honestly, somewhat limited on the threads I have read), I'm not sure, so I don't post there.
What part of what I am saying do you not understand? I KNOW THAT CPT V WAS NOT 100% RIGHT. NEITHER WAS TH. what I AM saying is that between them MY needs as a customer were not met. Now, with that said, who is more responsible for taking care of my needs: the SOE EMPLOYEE? or the volunteer? that's what I'm saying. Blame lies where it lies, but ultimately, the top 5 for SL's should have been included no matter what. After that, if TH wanted to can Cpt V then that's his decision. But to not include MY needs in his report was wrong. He took out his frustration with 1 person on an entire profession. Tha in my opinion is wrong. Say what you want about the situatuion, but THAT is wht I'm upset with TH. Hell with the squabble the two of them had. That is my point. {end of my involvment in the whole GD discussion}
Let me repaint this illustration and you can make up your own mind:
You are hired in a middle-management position responsible for supervising the customer suggestion department. Before you were hired, everyone that reports to you wrote reports from their respective departments and tried to give them directly to the boss who was too busy being the boss to read them. After you are hired, your subordinate updates his original reports and gives it to you again....a month or two later you are tasked with getting the top priorities from each department and you instruct your subordinates accordingly to assemble their top priorities. ...You then find yourself getting a bit frustrated when one of the subordinates tells you "it's in the report I gave you...go look for yourself!" You then put the squeeze on this particular subordinate to complete the specific project as described and he responds with "Okay, I did it...it's on my desk, feel free to pick it up" For whatever reason (some say "too busy" others "too stubborn") you refuse to pick it up because you'd previously instructed that he bring it to your officeand your subordinate quits in frustration.
[my opinion/analysis] Both were understandably frustrated. EITHER party could have bent a bit to prevent this from exploding. In the best interest of the Squad Leader profession (which is in DIRE need of a fix--we know we aren't the "only" broken class, but we are arguably the MOST broken..and the only class not to have received ANY dev love whatsoever to this point except to fiddle with our xp system) for the correspondent to have simply done exactly as instructed. It is in the best interest of the game, for the Community Relations person to relent and get the information himself. Either COULD have handled this better...but I don't think either was obliged to do anything different. This whole situation is entirely dissappointing, but I think choosing sides and continuing to bicker over all this defeats the true issue at hand.
What do Squad Leader's want Chefs to learn from this? We are ALL very frustrated. However, if you let your frustration get the best of you, the greater good will slip through your fingers...
We want to be heard. We believe that our profession deserves to be one of the best, but is currently the very very worst. Squad Leaders are honestly more broken than Chefs--I feel your pains too, but at least you have SOME foods that you can make that are noticeably beneficial.
Chefs, your fixes are coming very soon so keep your spirits up and keep working with your Correspondent! Hopefully the devs will get you guys fixed soon so they can finally work their way around to the apparent lowest priority in the game....squad leader. ![]()
Iguess we have different working experiences. I would be fired if I told my boss to come pick up a report from my desk. Usually "DO IT YOURSELF", when said to boss, indicates you are quitting your job :/.
*Begins baking cakes and writing "Now fix the squad leaders" in icing on top*

Sounds like the Squad Leader Coorespondant was only concerned for himself and not for the other classes in the game.
i was orgininaly going to say 'DUH!' but im goig to try to avoid that. he is the SL correspondent, thats kinda his job to be concerned about us. be you have to realize that our profession is in just as horible a shape as chefs are, although i have heard rumors that you guys have craftible foods now which would make you stronger then us. all we have a unnoticiable increased form our skill mods and broken skills that fail too often and cost too much HAM. the only thing we do have going for us is our /sysgroup whis is nothing but a fancy /groupChat.
can you really blame Cap V for wanting the DEVs to pay alittle attention to one of the most broken professions in the game?
