Thread: Price of upcoming food

Just speaking for myself and shooting somewhat from the hip, I'll probably start in the 40k-50k range, and if it sits there for a couple of days, bring it down to 30k-40k. The Tarquinas economy has never been one that tolerated very high prices, though, so I'm accustomed to selling Fishak at 45-50k for the crate.

In the final analysis, though, it depends a great deal on what price the economy will bear. There will certainly be items that are more profitable/less profitable than others, but I'm really taking a wait-and-see attitude towards all this and I'm sure that it'll get mostly sorted out in the first few days after the publish.

So take 2 shots of über effectiveness-experimented Vasarian Brandy (+500/+500/+500) and 2 bites of Vagnerian Canapé for (+0/+600/+600) for a total of +500/+1100/+1100 Mind/Focus/Willpower. There will be a difference, but it has its good sides with the bad.

http://www.gamekast.com/swg/foodtables.html

Also, I don't know if the buffs listed in the table have BE additives at all, so it might be that using 100% BE enhancers you'll get +1000/+2200/+2200 - perhaps someone with this information might be willing to post it?

+500/+1100/+1100 very poor buff to have for 40 or so mins. I wouldn't buy it no matter how low the price. However, with the addition ofMuon Gold, +1000/+2200/+2200 food buff is very good, if not being great. ThatI would pay a nice amount to get that.

What's so poor about this picture is that no one needs a 2200 buff to Focus or Willpower. A 1000 buff for those statsis fine. What we need is that power in the Mind, and that is where SOE has this all twisted around.

Unless they balance this out, this is going to be a very dull game for high level players. especially player tanks whofront for their groupagainst Mind eating MOBs like Night Sisters andKrayts.

the buff to focus/willpower comes in very handy if you're wearing a full suit of advanced composite armor.

The funny thing is everyone saying they will not buy food, will buy food. A good pvper knows to use EVERY advantage to his favor. He will use food, drinks, spices, doc buffs, and entertainer, no matter how low or minimal. It will give him the edge he needs to win. Most mind food is sold for pvp. The secondary food is used alot for PvE. These people saying they will not use food, will use food when they get beat by someone using it.

So let me get this straight... You would perfer to have 0 buff to all mind stats than to have a +500/+1100/+1100? Next time you die for lack of Mind, give me a /tell and we'll talk about pricing.

Note: If you took those 2 things to buff your mind, you would have had to pay about 600 per does of the two combined, and take it 3 times to equal the duration of the new stuff. That's 1,800 credits for the full buff.

The pricing we're talking about (and I agree - I'll probably be pricing it the same as well) would give you a lower buff by about 40%, but would last three times as long. Price to you would be about 1,200 credits. Basically you pay less for a longer duration buff that is not as strong.

'course I'm not telling you what to do, but if it were me (and since I'm also a TKA/Smuggler who needs buffs) sure as heck I'm going to be buffing up with food in addition to whatever doctor/entertainer buffs I can get PLUS spice in emergency situations. More is better right?

You're not understanding me. For PvE, against the MOBs I've mentioned, what is the point of buying a 500 buff for the mind. So you can die 15 secs later than not. My point is that it's a usless buff. Period. Sure, on occasion it may make a difference, but, usually not.

I'm already using spice with full buffs, food and entertainer, and as a Kasi I'm having a good challenge against Night Sisters and Krayts. Go solo (NS) and group against (Krayts) and see what I mean. Sisters drain your stats in a blink. You can lose over 1000 mind in a few secs against a group of them.

I really don't care how long the buff lasts. It's as useless at 40 mins as it would be at 10 mins. To take away a good mind food is to take away the high level PvE challenges in this game. Take that away and you have a boring game. I'm sorry, but, this new mind food is not going to cut it.

I must say that Bria must be the most whacked server out there. These prices are way too low (for Bria). I guess the credit duping really hit us the hardest. I have to sell fishak at nearly 100k per crate just to keep it on the shelves.

I can't imagine what the new stuff will be like.

You chefs are not "hearing" me.Ryshcate or any secondary buff, does us no good when a mob can directly drain the mind. It doesn't matter if we are tanking for a group (I'm a TKM) or soloing, if a MOB mind drains the mind, we are dead with +500 buff mind buff.Period.

Secondariy buffs are good if we are in a jam and need to spam specials. But, all a secondary buff doesfor a composite armoruser is make the cost of specials bearable. Again, withouta high enough mind buff, even they are worthless.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. I believe SOE thinks that people should NOT be soloing things like Kryats and the other high level MOBs that you mentioned. That is reason #1 for it being "nerfed".

That said, I think the new mixes are almost as good. I've said this a dozen times in other threads... why not take some damage mitigation stuff instead of the mind buff - or in ADDITION TO the mind buff? Let me make a nice "combo #1" for you - a solo PVE player going against some gawd-awful nasty critter:

Old - You'd take one does of Fishak (+550 Mind, 300 credits per dose, lasts 15 min) and 2 doses of Glucose (+600 mind, +600 focus 500 credits per pair of doses, lasts 10 minutes). Total buff = +1150 mind. But you said you were getting a +1500 mind buff from food alone in your original message. So let's assume you get TWO doses of Fishak and TWO doses of Glucose (which I personally believe you can't eat that much) to give yourself +1700.

New "Combo #1":

Three Vasarian Brandy's (BE enhanced to lower filling) = +450 to Mind, Focus, Wil for 40 minutes)
Two Spiced Teas (+100 to mind for 40 minutes)
Two SynthSteaks (reduces damage by 20% for 40 attacks (combined)
One Ahrisa (+184 to focus for 40 minutes)

Net effect: +550 to mind, +634 to focus, +450 to mind for 40 minutes; reduced damage for 40 attacks.

You say these things hit hard? Here's some math on the Synthsteaks:

Old - assume you have great composite on (65% resist). If the enemy hits you for 1,000 points of damage, you'd take 450. Got six people hamering you? That's about 2,700 damage every few seconds if they hit (which is why you need the high mind).

New: Assume the same thing, but with Synthsteak you'd be taking only 360 points of damage. That's 2,160 every few seconds. Basically it's like having an additional 90 points in HAM in whatever area you need it. That's absolutley huge. The 20 shots means it's like having an extra 1,800 HAM. But the good thing is it's in whatever pool is taking the damage. One of those alone matches what you're losing from the "nerf" to the new foods. And you can take TWO of them. AND other foods to buff your mind pool a bit, lower your action cost almost as much AND regenerate faster.

If you're a TKA that doesn't wear armour, then it's even more effective. Take your average TKA fighing a high-level MOB who does AP damage. If it hits for 1,000, you'd take 1500 before damage mitigation. The Synthsteak would reduce that to 1,200, giving you 300 points PER HIT extra ham (effectivley). One does of Synthsteak gives you 6,000 extra HAM, and you can take 3-4 of them before you're full.

The difference is you won't be able to spam your best special without pausing... which I believe was the intention of the developers. But you sure will be able to take a lot more damage than before!

I didn't write that I solo Krayts. However, Ido tank for groups. I don't think anyone should be able to solo krayts.

The Synthsteak sounds very good, except against force users. Night Sisters use the Force to drain BASESTATS.There is no defense. Armor does not help, damage mitigation, and so on. Only a well buffed mind will help there. It also doesn't matter if one is grouped or not. The tank will go down with Synthsteak.

The range I qouted for amind foodbuffed mind(1200-1500) was taking into account many user may be getting better food than me. I can get 1300 from Fishack and a double dose of Glucose. The Glucose lasts about 7 mins.

Sure, you sales won't fall to PvPers at all. It will be a level field. It's the PvEers that are getting screwed here. We use mind food too.

Consider this. If mind food is being nerfed, then it must be for reasons other than PvP, since PvP will be a level playing field whatever mind food is available. No, it's bing nerfed because of PvE and lord knows why. It's not easy to game against many mind ripping MOBS. So, the PvE community must be buying as much, if not more mind food that the PvP community.

Get caught in the Tuskin cave duringthe high level spawn when the Tuskin Champion comes out to play. You'll need to spam specials to survive him, the chief, the warlord, and four others pounding on you, and then you'll know why +500 Mind is just a sad buff.

Not to seem petty, but, I hope the Chefs feel the pinch of reduced sales from PvEers. Then, with enough complaints, maybe we'll get some good mind food back on the "shelves."

I think I have a solution for your dilema OoBoBoo. As I understand it, what you need is something that will give you at least 1200 mind buff regardless of how long it lasts.

In the devs own words, Breath of Heaven experimented and Bioenhanced can reach that 1200 range you looking for. It will be hard to find due to the heavy meat requirements, but, it will be available.

If you want it badly enough, go out and collect a few thousand meat and take it to your favorite chef and ask him to have some Bioenhanced stuff made for you with it. All the information you need about what resources he'll need to do it is available to you, same as it is us.

No one is trying to tell you that you are wrong. If you need 1200 mind, then thats what you need. Thats how you can get it.
