Thread: Carbineer Issues Designer responses
ok 2 weeks have gone by and we did still did not get any answers or apparently noone has even looked at our issues yet
i am glad the t21 has been changed 3 times and the commandoes are getting fixed and loads of new nerfs have been introduced ( viz 30sec posture change timer) but what about our issues
any pure carbineer (if u have skills in bh carbine u do not count) will be right at the bottom of all combat profesions as soon as the commando changes are introduced (btw commando getting fixed is a great news i felt sory for the ppl that played it in curent state).
carbineer is still a combat proffesion right? or are we gonna be forced inte a role of a backup
get it fixed my patience is runing out fast
Just fix charge shot 2 please
every class has a KD hit
Carabineer NO
And charge shot 2 should be Aoe
I liked Jcin617's idea, we should have horses or tanks or some sort of mount that does trample dmg to make up for our f*ck*d HAM and specials costs. I think it would make the game worth while if I could ride around faster than a normal player, it would be the ultimate in kiting. Maybe we should pull for that instead, at least we'll get the same response.
a tired man, who has nowhere to go
My biggest issue is still with the "Elite" carbine. It sucks.
Pistoleer and Riflemen get certs for weapons that are higher AR than the other weapons just a marksman can get. But the 'elite' is even lower than the laser. So, if I'm going against someone who's wearing no armor... the elite carbine might just be better than using a laser carbine or a DXR6! Woohoo!
Uh... In fact, why would I ever want to use this weapon? There is nothing about it that makes it particularly desirable, unless we get really lucky and all the materials to make it are extremely high quality. But the name 'elite' implies it's well, special.
But according to the 'official strategy guide' it has a damage/minute of 1500, where the DH17 has 1329 and much lower HAM costs. Not to mention that the DH17 requires not special materials to make, and I actually use -it- instead of the elite when I'm not using the DRX6 because I'm fighting creatures with acid vulnerability, or the laser for the high AR creatures.
If I'm using a low low level gun instead of the 'elite' that in itself is a sign that something's broken. Maybe it's in part the crafting that requires the rare components (I haven't even seen Polonium Iron in the time I've been playing) combined with the 'identical components' not having effect on the final product, but the end result is that I'd rather take a well made DH17 over the Elite carbine.
This is very sad, and the reason why I think it needs serious fixing.
My second big issue is that fact that if I'm running I have to stop for the first shot. This is exceedingly annoying if I'm trying to burst run out of a bad situation, and someone new joins in so, blam, watch me stand still for someone to beat on me while his buddy shoots me. And I don't even choose to shoot back, it does it automagically for me. Nice.
There are other issues, like the fact that charge shot seems pretty **edit** useless with the new KD timer, and that if carbineers are supposed to be the masters of firefights... why don't we get more ranged defense? I enjoy being a carbineer, but I often feel that the pistoleer can do everything we can do -and- some other cool things on top of it. I'm hoping that something will be done about it, so I haven't switched yet, though.
My #1 complaint would also be the Elite Carbine... If you can call it that...
1) Should have and increase in the Armor Piercing...
2) Atleast raise the Min. dmg on it also... I don't need godly max dmg, although an increase there would be okay too
but an increase to say 100-160dmg would be nice... If we could get 100-200dmg! Wow, a dream come true is all I could say...
3) Either lower the HAM cost or keep it the same and use the fixes above... That would be acceptable, since higher lvl weapons to usually cost more in HAM, although right now the HAM cost for what the Elite can do is laughable...
4) As a last resort, if the fixes above don't seem right... Decrease the shooting speed, but then a HAM cost would be greatly needed, if we get Elites shooting at say 3.0 or lower after slicing we'd be dead in no time at the current HAM cost...
Any combination of these would be nice, like say decrease the HAM slightly; increase Armor Piercing and decrease the shooting speed slightly...
Or, keep HAM as is, then raise damage Min. and Maximum... Definetily raise the minimum right now though.. And increase the Armor piercing...
The latter seems more feasible since at the least you'd only be changing 2 things the minimum damage and armor piercing... That's my feedback on the thing...
wow, 4 pages and almost a month gone by, any responses? hmm? any?
Shhhhhh, did you hear something? I didn't either.
Wonderful comminication here really.
It would have been great if they actually left the game in beta until it was ready to be released instead of getting people to pay fora betaquality game. This is one of the buggiest games i have ever paid to play. I just started playing last week and I just have to laugh. I figured with where this was at in beta that if i waited until now the game would be better off. Oh well I am glad I can heal myself after spamming special attacks and have a pet to help until they do something to makethis class more balanced.

First, calling the game buggy isn't fair. everything computer related is buggy, even after it goes gold. SWG is a VAST game with tens of thousands of variations and millions of interactions. For such a huge scope, a few bugs are outstanding.
Second, Carbineer (!) issues need to be resolved soon. The high HAM costs make wearing armor pointless (Im a Master Medic with Stim D's just to support my carbine use), and lack of armor means we're pretty much going to get our butts handed to us by another elite class. I've tracked down an excellent Laser Carbine (that I switch out with the infinitly cooler DX6) that can deal upto 1300-1400dmg with auto fire. Thats all nice, but a few rounds of supression/ auto and any other special moves I feel like tacking on and I do my enemies work for them. This isn't even close to balanced, and honestly, as much as I love the game, I get tired of getting kicked around by anything from Novice chefs to a point blank rifleman.
Last, thanks for the killer game. I've gotten my brother, wife, and twoof my friends to buy it and subscribe since I started playing a month ago, and they love it as much as I do. SOE did good!!!!
