If I were a developer (and I am, but not for SOE), I would make note of the fact that Pistoleer is *jammed* with people, while nobody wants to be a Carbineer. Coincidence? I don't think so.

The Pistoleer boards are brimming over with whiners because it's one of the most powerful professions. Instead of buffing it, balance *all* of the combat professions. You can tell over time by the distribution in each category which one is too powerful compared to the others, because that's where everyone goes!

Yeah, I know the devs have 10,000 issues to deal with. So what? The game was released, so I have ZERO sympathy for the fact that it was released early. I'm pretty unimpressed with the rate of "improvements" so far.

I love the argument that "changes need to be tested thoroughly before they're pushed to the production servers." I think the last patch shows just how effective that approach is. Big patches are almost always a bad idea. For the tweaks like HAM adjustments, just do hot fixes. Experience shows these are no more risky than a "well-tested" patch.

I've noticed nothing wrong with carbineer aside from the counterattack and specials. A pistoleer / bounty hunter combo wins because of special moves and massive accuracy and speed boosts. And HAM costs? I've noticed nothing wrong with them if you get a GOOD carbine. I have Avec's DH17 snubnose... Something like 36/26/14 HAM cost, and I can spam specials for a while if I wanted to. I've yet to check the knockdown costs, but I've heard those are heavy. I dunno though.

Andii:

got to swgcenter.com and check out the HAM modifiers within the specials themselves. The guns arent the problem, the special modifiers are.

Why did everyone else seem to get their issues fixed and we still are at we are looking into this?

In addition to Carbineer, I am a Ranger. The Ranger Dev notes just came out yesterday and - get this - we got everything we asked for... and more! The Dev even threw in a couple of little thing we only dreamed about. We said the same things in the Ranger forum: They don't care, they hate us, there is no reason to be a Ranger...

My point: We approached the devs with a solid list of fixes that we wanted and stuck to it. We have that list here in Carbines and we will stick to it... give it a little time and I think we'll be surprised. Pistol has gotten a ton of love, Carbines will get love too.

The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.

May want to "look into" Charge shot 2 as well.

What it is suppose to be: AOE knockdown

What it is: High HAM cost mid range damage shot.. about leg shot 2 level damage.. no knockdown, no AOE.

I played a Carbineer in beta and in live. I like the fact that we can kite and that I can hit a bit harder than my pistol wielding buddy. He however does more damage over time than I do and his specials have significantly less HAM. I am carrying a Laser Carbine right now and If what I am reading about elite carbs is true, then they don't seem to be as good as the lasers and I am left wondering why they are a higher cert. When grouping with others, I have to spam my specials to stay competitive as far as the amount of XP I am earning. If I were not able to use Stim-Cs, I would be in a very bad way indeed. I am willing to give up the range of a rifle, I am willing to give up the ROF of a pistol, but I need to be able to use my specials without killing myself.

I firmly believe that HAM cost should be the #1 concern of our prof. my 2c

Agreed. I just recently picked up a pistol again (for the 1st time since release) just to play with it... it is incredable how small the HAM costs are. I sat there and spammed Body Shot 1 the entire time and my HAM regenerated just as fast as it was being used... It was sick. Then - I got into a pinch and had to whip out the Laser Cbine & EE3only to watch my HAM disapear in two quick battles...

Is there any reasoning behind the inflated AHM cost? Something like: Pistol = smallest; Carbine = medium; Rifle = larget... even that doesn't really make sense. It seems to me that the HAM costs should be higher for the pistol - it's smaller and harder to aim with andyou have to be closer to your enemy. With Carbine and Rifle, you are father away from the enemy and can 'set up' your shot easier (so to speak).

Anyway, the HAM costs for Cbines are too high and it needs to be fixed WITHOUT redusing the damage / speed of our weapons.

The technical reason is that the carbine specials have very high cost multipliers for no reason. If you normal fire a pistol & carbine youll see a more even HAM cost, the pistol uses less HAM per shotbut fire much faster.

Why this makes sense from a balance standpoint i have no idea.

Elite carbine should be given ap2 like the laser carbine, OR it should be renamed to "ok carbine"

Thanks

5) Carbineer – Consistent spelling of the profession “Carbineer.”

We will do this in a future update. We are also changing this forum title to reflect your desire. (FYI Carabineer is correct, but Carbineer is an acceptable alt that you all seem to prefer)

... there's also the title for the novice carbinEer prof... which says: "carbinier"... same with master.

though that may be intentional?

I think "carbinier" is a typo. The "official" spelling of the word is carabineer, its from the French carabinier. Personally, I prefer "carbineer" though, since the weapon is a carbine, not a carabine.

Speaking of which, technically a carabineer was a member of the calvary equipped with a carbine. Does that mean we get free horses or tanks?

Edit: I meant, member of the cavalry, calvary was where Jesus was crucified - big difference.
