I expect that the Elite Carbine will have its damage significally upgraded for the CU, so it'll be a nice weapon which can compete favourably with the other carbines around.

Yes, let's hope you're right Sylow, because as it stands now, if you're a master carbineer and anything other than a Bounty Hunter orSquad Leader, you're going to be really pissed off when you see a Squad Leader who's a carbineer dabbler doing 50% more damage than you against that nightsister.

Do I have to keep repeating this.....you all want answers from me, well listen to what I post please.

Most of the Elite Weapons are not balanced, just like all the creatures we see running around TC5. The Devs have done the minimum to get the novice profs tested, there is a reason the elite trainers are gone.....the CU is not ready for anybody to get there yet.

I thought I posted the "hope you're right" part because the Elite weapons have not yet been "balanced". Sorry if I wasn't clear on that. So to answer your question TA, no, you don't have to keep repeating that.

One more thing on the Carbines.....we only have 2 of the 4 elemental types so far and ALL PROFS are to get all damage types (not sure about TKA though). This should help reinforce the notion that the Elite Cert'd weapons are not all tweaked yet.

That was good news that makes me happy.

Well from a Master Commando/Master Carbineer on one toon, and Master Commando/Master Smuggler as well as a Master BH/Master Carbineer that statement just bugged the hell out of me. It is not that I must have that cert at the Master Commando level... it now falls on why the hell would a BH have that cert? Do they have the cert for Proton Grenades? I hope to goodness that Tanks was just talking out his arse there... Carbines or Commando is the rightful place for that unless the Devs want cookie cutter templates like Master Pistoleer/Master SL, Master Pistoleer/Master Cm, Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler... seeing my point? There are certain profs that are just plain out favored for one another.... guess it isn't balancing profs if you want to take advantage of your Master cert'd weapons. If someone sees something wrong in my opinion please let me know... but even with TA doing a good job of keeping the tides calm with this being beta, that comment is a bit disheartening from a hybrid dabbler from day 1's point of view.

Well, technically speaking Proton isn't intergalctic basic for commando.

But (except for that that I can't fit Master Commando into my template) I thing Commandos that walk the path of carbineer should have a reward.

The location of the Proton Carbine Cert has not been announced, no matter what Tanks THINKS.....

Good, because we commandos over there in the commando forums were a bit... "disturbed", to put it mildly, when Tanks said that.

personally i think its just dumb to give professions carbines who need no carbine skills what-so-ever. i mean CM now needs pistol line in marksman as does smuggler so its fine that they get a master pistol, but giving commandos a weapon they don't even know how to use as their master weapon makes no sense at all in my opinion. so either make carbines a requirement for commando and give them the proton or give us the cert for the proton at master instead of that horrible elite that is there now, or triple the elites damage to put it on par with the proton.

oh and since SL's don't need any carbine and they get a carbine its ok in my veiw because they get one of each and its not a viable profession on its own so it needs another combat profession to be of use.

Man I'm tired, hitting submit before I even type anything. Anyway...

The issue with SL is that they get all 3 types of weapons, but are now completely dependant on only pistol xp and combat xp to level their trees(atm). Now if it were like marksman and one of each weapon line and a combat xp line, it would make sense to have them get all 3. But as it is, to even effectively grind their own prof. an SL is pretty much predestined to go pistoleer, and then keep or drop those skills as they choose in favor of another weapon. I say effectively because I did the smuggler grind with only marksman skills, and that made me want to shove a hot fork in my eye, I can't imagine having a third line to fill, and then the combat xp requirement on top with only pistols 4 from marksman. Yes, SL need another combat profession to function well in their group in any capacity besides support from the rear lines, but their current xp requirement on TC is very limiting to their choice if they want to make any reasonable speed in finishing their prof. I am not against SL having any weapon(though I do wish I could get the intimidator pistol without taking SL, oh well), and am glad they got some love. The fact of the matter is, though, that a master SL will really only effectively use one of those weapons, as they will have no more than 2 lines in a second ranged prof, and that only if they don't take more scout for harvesting, terrain negotiation, or any medic. They will have their general mods, but that's it, and any weapon specific specials will obviously not work for the other 2 weapons they are certed for.

there is a lot of talk about the weapon certs going around at the moment and while I am all for firmly sitting ing the 'wait and see what happens' camp I also think that it would make things sooooooo much easier and palettable for everyone to have Riflemen with certs for all the rifles (apart from maybe things like the special heavy weapons like the llc and acid rifle and such), together with carbineers having certs for all the carbines and pistoleers haveing certs for all of them.

Any other professions that have certs for ranged weapons would get these certs as planned. It shouldn't be that a single gun can only be used by a single profession, whatever happened to the individual's preference? I might be a carbineer with a penchant for the dart carbine (thinking here from the character's POV) but under this system I wouldn't be allowed to touch one as I am not a registered bounty hunter or whatever.

Despite what some people might think, there is not a lot of difference between one rifle/pistol/carbine and another, they al have somewhere to hold, an end that goes bang (or whatever) and a trigger to pull, it shouldn't be that hard to work out how to use one if you have used another.

Of course Elite Trainers are on TC-EP3 now, but the fact remains that not all weapons have been tweaked yet.
