I can beyond a shadow of a doubt tell you that 4440 Fencer and 0043 Pistoleer with Master Carbineer does not have enough DEFENSE to stand up to even a mid-level Jedi.....so those Pistoleer defenses are a waste for fighting Jedi....I have first hand knowledge

This is why I brought up that point.

It is incredibly important when building a PvP or Jedi-hunting template that your template be built with one and only one focus. Every skill point spent has to advance focus of the template. Anything else is waste and puts you at a disadvantage to the players that focus their templates.

With respect to Jedi, it is important to realize that you have no defenses even if you spent the skill points to get them. They ARE going to hit you. Thus, if you are going to hunt Jedi, you need to focus soley on your offense. You need to kill them faster than they can get to you or once they get to you, you are dead.

It is important to realize that what works in PvP does not neccisarily work for PvP vs Jedi. If Jedi hunting is your thing, you must adjust your template and tactics accordingly.

Sowhich would be better to haveMBH, Carbineer 0/4/3/4, Pistoleer 0/0/4/4 or MBH, Master Carbineer, Pistoleer 0/0/3/0?

You say focus on offense (and only one)so the dual master would be the obvious choice, or does it benifit you to have that extra defense from pistoleer?

Does dropping that carbineer speed actually matter?

I also have a question for you old timer carbineers. I already know sprayshot is the best carbine special, and being a BH the whole time I love the BH carbine specails. Besides crippleshot what other carbineer specails are worth using?

I think your best carbine based optionsare M.BH/M.Carb and 1000 Medic, M.BH/M.Carb and Brawler (intimidate) or M.Carb/BH 3400/Medic 2000/Brawler. Which one of those is superior is going to be debated for a long long time.

In 1 on 1 vs a Jedi, suppresionfire2, scattershot2 and chargeshot1/2 (depending on what your favorite KD is).

In PvP...chargeshot2, scattershot2, fullautoarea2, burstshot2, suppresionfire2, actionshot2....many of them.

In PvE...all of the cone specials are very useful.

Exactly. MY template at MBH, Carbs 0-4-3-4, Pistol 0-0-4-4, is specifically for hunting jedi, since thats what I like to do. It'll work pretty well in PvP also, but probably not as good as mastering Carbineer. The added ranged def. and accuracy is prob more valuable for general PvP.

Nova - to answer you previous question about Melee def. and stats defs. I'd say the pistoleer line will help a little, but probably not too much. If you're going to hunt jedi you're going to definitely need to pop some Thatkillo (+98 def vs. KD) and Ithorian Mist (+ def. vs. dizzy). The jedi number 1 strategy is to KD/dizzy you and go to town....it's the same strategy you need to have also as a Jedi hunter, except we use Posture down attacks and dizzy....and not the KD/dizzy (they have foods too).

I'd also add that if you're interested in hunting jedi, try to bring along a Melee friend and/or a CM friend. With /intimidate and /warcry plus poisons and your own KD/dizzy you should make short work of most jedi.

masterSwordsmen/1-4-1-0 carbineer/BH carb 4 down side to both no medic and that may become important later on after

the combat Rebalance but till then i dodge like a mad Man have scatter hit 2/eye shot/ Dizzy lunge/supression fire

Thanks a lot for the info nova, you are most helpful. I gota couple otherquestions:

-Does intimidate make that big of a difference to go MBH, MC, Novice Brawler?

-In PvP jedi or normal PvP once you Knockdown dizzy the player (with whatever shotfloats your boat) what is the best attack? I'm not sure if it was you or some one else that said not to just spam away an attack. I figured thats what you would do once they are down and dizzy flopping like a fish.My old method was use /fireknockdown to KD, Dizzy them, then switch to pistol toblind them, bleed them, burn them using using bh pistol specials then swich back to carbine and spam sprayshot or crippling shot to finish them. I know now its not that easy to swich weapons during comabat anymore so that is probably not the path.

-just what does scattershot do?

I'm not sure if we know the exact details on it... but I'd say a general description would be that it does damage at a 7.5x modifier (same as crippling shot) distributed randomly between all 3 pools.

My Current template is looking like this:

Master Teras Kasi Artist

Bounty Hunter 3/4/0/0

Carbineer 0/0/4/0

Defense v Stun +15

Defense v Blind +10

Defense v Intimidate +25

Defense v Posture Change +30

Ranged Defense +62

Melee Defense +64

Ranged Mitigation 2

Melee Mitigation 3

Also get an Unarmed CoB efficacy of +90

Advantages:

The ranged state changes and KD of Carbines

Powerful melee fighter with TKM

High average melee and randed defense

Disadvantages:

Low stacked defenses

No medic

Master Carbineer / BH 0400 / Pistoleer 0040 / Novice Brawler / Medic 0130

Advantages:

Intimidation

C-stims for healing

High acc, high speed...

Disadvantages:

No state healing / No dot healing

No solid state defence / melee/ranged defence

Keep at a distance and you'll be very deadly with a nice gun, what you guys think about this?

I used the character builder at swgbounties.com to build a few Carbineer builds with BH to see what happens. As players achieve them over the next week, please come in and comment on them. For now, we can discuss them. I broke down the offense and defense for a bunch of what I consider to be some of the most solid variations. I threw in a Pistoleer-based build at the end because it is pretty solid as well and might be tempting to someone who wasn't tied to carbines. Please note there are 2 versions of Fencer and Carbineer. Pay attention to the subtilties.

theres a better character builder on bloodfin.org, but you wouldnt know, cuz your from Wanderhome

Im like 85% sure that Crippling Shot has a 5.0x dmg modifier and the highest dmg mod in the game is Last Ditch (6.0x)
