You can get away with 95 SAC if you dont have doctor buffs or SEAs. If you have those 85 SAC rifles are probably your best bet. If you dont have two actual fighting professions you could get away with a higher SAC also (ie Master Rifle/Master Combat Medic)

I won't buy a rifle now without a SAC of 82 on it. I didn't always have that opinion but after many battles and trying to manage my action bar I can say the lowest SAC possible (82 on rifles) is needed.Sure you can use a SAC pup but then it prevents me from using a speed or damage pup.

A uber rifle with a SAC of 82 and a damage pup that gives me around 1,350 max damage and increases my speed to about 1.6-1.8 is just right....it's fast enough but not so fast I am waiting on my action bar, the damage is better than about anything, and I don't take the accuracy hit from a speed pup.

Here is an example:

Crafted Trando Hunting Rifle w/Damage Pup

xDiggerx - Master Bounty Hunter/ Master Combat Medic/Rifleman 4000
zDiggerz - +12 Pt Master Chef / +14pt Master Artisan / Master Merchant
10th Mtn Guild Leader - Imperial Ace Pilot - Imperial Colonel's - FS Crafters
Chef Food - PowerUps * New Sparta, Naboo -5860 5430 * Swoops - Resources

I agree with you min damage has been getting ignored due to the closed debate on DPS. The thing that stinks though is weaponsmiths cannot experiment on min damage alone.

With speed buffs and and a decent speed stat to begin with, everything else is secondary to SAC. Even with a 65 SAC pistol PuPed to 50 SAC, I still run out of action quickly when firing critical shot and headshot every second.

To people who can only fire specials every few seconds, maybe SAC isn't important...but they should probably be thinking about changing their templates and playstyle before they gowasting money on a good gun

EDIT: The other things is, these days everyone is healing or has some Jedi power thats keeps them alive forever and fights are going onfor a long time. An action pool that lasts is pretty important.

The argument can be made both ways....Hiting for higher dmg can make someone have to heal more and in turn allow you to hit him more. In the end it dependson the person or npc your fighting, your playing style and if they are protected from your type of dmg (energy, kinetic...etc). Give me a high min dmg low sac pistol tho and you have the best both worlds...hit hard and long.

I don't know about all the other servers, but I have yet to find a Weaponsmith on Ahazi (of course, I'll be the first to admit that I haven't been actively searching recently)that even seems to bother with SAC on pistols, It's extremely rare to find anything under 84 it seems. I've seen SAC as high as 120 on some pistols, and the prices are outrageous on them. I guess I'll have to track one down and get myself a Featherweight FWG5 special ordered for low SAC.

That's disgusting, CSR's should perma ban weaponsmiths that craft horrific weapons like that.

I personally look for anything that is SAC under 75 and max damage over 900. Once I find that then min damage is the next thing I look for. I am not all too concerned about speed since almost all pistols are faily quick and I can always apply a speed buff (having Doc 0004 is nice). Then sit back and alternate between bodyshot and quickdraw, I find no matter what I will drain my action but the question is how long before I run out.

As aWS I can say that there are still a lot of uneducated people out there who think DPS is everything. I'm at the point where I'm gona have 2 vendors, SAC/max dam exp, and pure dps exp.

I won't buy anything above 80 SAC. Regardless the stats. But that's just me.

What do you guys spend all your Action on that you need these low SAC guns? In any battle, mainly high level mobs and pvp (especially vs. Jedi) no mater what SAC it is, you will run out of action long before the battle is over. Don't you guys just use the trusty ranged/placed shot combo, with root and intimidate thrown in, and only using body shot for a kill shot,and/or quickdraw/placed shot for those fast "I have no mind left to heal" kills.

I prefer to output as much damage as quickly as possible for as long as possible.

The low SAC pistols allow you to spam damage shots for a minute and a half before you have to switch to ranged shot and spam your action back up again.

It's a matter of playstyle, do you try to conserve your action by putting lower SAC cost specials in your combo, or do you just dump it all out hitting as hard as possible, spamming quickdraw/body shot (or just body shot for those with enough speed)?

ahh, I see your point about putting out alot of damage with speed, then cooling down on the damage but still putting alot of pressure with ranged/placed shot. I usually save the Action untill I see they are out of mind/action/force and dump it all on then.

Thx for the info, always a help.
