Thread: Carbine Special Modifiers

I tried to determine the Damage/Delay mods on some extra moves. Same methodology as Nova (shooting a lair), although I used a DXR6 (avg 173) most of the time. Also, when I tested scattershots, I did it vs a friend's rancor, and wrote down the numbers that floated above its head (It was vulnerable to my weapon, so no AR issues). I didn't bother trying to measure HAM

Suppression1 (marks): Delay 2, Damage 2

Suppression2: Delay 2.5, Damage 3.5

Charge Shot2: Delay 3, Damage 3.8 (?)

Scatter1: Delay 2, Damage 4.5

Scatter2: Delay 2.5, Damage 7

Concerns:

  1. I'm not so sure about Charge Shot's 2 damage multiplier being 3.8. It could use more tests, but I already dropped that skillbox

  2. The first time i tested Scatter shots, I used a CDEF (avg 28) vs a friend's pet. In both of these cases, I ended up with a damage multiple that was 1.0 higher than with the DXR (5.5 and 8). Makes me wonder if the math doesn't get weird at the low end weapons.

An enlightening bit of information. I do question the damage mod on leg hit 3, though. I'd wager it has a mildly higher damage modifier than leg hit 2 but your test probably didn't pick it up because it's probably something like .3 or possibly less. Perhaps doing a larger sample would help?

For those people interested, I created an Excel Spreadsheet using all these numbers, your character speed modifier, and a weapon's stats. You can see which special has the best DPS or lowest HAM or simply lowest speed for any weapon. You can also play what/if on getting higher speed modifiers with more skills or tapes/attachments.

I can email it to anybody or if there is enough interest I can post it on my website for download.

I second that zimbo.

That would be really helpful TAfirehawk

And thanks for your hard work novamarine.

With the info here and in the specials thread, I guess I can finally stop using ActionShot2

OK,I will post it on my GoA website. I expanded the spreadsheet to include up to 7 weapons (number of Krayts I have) with a summary page. I added AP and Mitigation numbers on the summary page.

I hope everybody checks this out as I have found it very useful in looking at the specials and weapons in certain situations.

I am work right now and when I get it posted for download I will start a new thread.

Looks like they are going to implement a Jedi-only forum

Oh don't I wish. I saw the same thing with half the people on the TC forum, but after about 2 min it went away.

Yea it vanished. I must admit I was freaking out for a bit because it seemed like 50% of the posters had the Jedi tag. I was thinking I better start grinding holos or everyone will be a Jedi but me.

VERY useful info....but my mind just wont let me accept that crippling shot speed. i'm going to have to time that for myself. i admit that all i can go off of currently is what its FELT like to me, but you say charge shot 1 is 2.3 and crippling shot is 2.5....i use those two VERY frequently, both of them only fire off one bolt. charge shot always feels like its only maybe 2.0 while crippling shot feels like its 4.0....i'm fine with burstshot 2 and fullautoarea 2 taking just as long as crippling shot, but charge shots seem to just take no time at all to sling off.

questions i'll try to find answers to...is this system consistent for all levels of carbine use? is there any possibility that the special's speeds are different for a person with only +40 carbine speed or lower? (thats where i'm at)

good job all around though, i have no argument with any of the other data.

Rhett
