Thread: Help Needed: Weapon Choice for a custom carbine

When you experiment on an advanced weapons stock you have 4 bars to chose for experimentation:
1. Damage. Increases the damage/wound chance and decreases the speed modifier of the stock.
I get mine to 40/40 .3 (note: that makes the weapon .3 speed slower, not faster).
2. Durability. Broken, this only works when crafting the weapon itself.
3. Effiency. Lowers the HAM costs of the stock.
4. Range. You can jack up the ideal range mod of the stock (increased ideal range mod of the weapon).
In order to get 40/40 .3 you have to spend all of your points on damage, leaving range usally at +10. Or you can jack up the range mod a lot, but the stock will be like 5/5 .9 w/o experimentation on the damage. Thats how you get +100 ideal range on carbs, but its not practical unless you have +100 speed and can cap any carbine.
Exactly, and I've got Carbine Speed to spare (121 with SEAs currently). I miss the damage a bit, but I like the fact that I can put what damage I can do on target with minimal failure.

i have 2 PSG's left on my toon atm
both are LS vulnerable
50% energy
42% everything else
so i guess i still fail to see why the DXR6 is better.....but everyones experience is different, as you said. I also havnt been buying new PSG's lately so perhaps they arent as good as the ones I have now and leave more vulnerable. Last i checked tho most good ones on my server had decent resists to most stuff

50% of the 80-90% already blocked by armor, I'll take my 261 min damage dxr6 over a laser or an elite any day

What many do not understand is that we need tofocus on the Carbineer here, he has+60 speed at master. We are not discussing a dam BountyHunter.

As you can see, the results are much better for the speed sliced carbine.

This is one of the BIGGEST misconseptions in the game for a carbineer. Speed slices are NOT bad. More often than not, for a pure carbineer, they are better than damage slices. Sure, it is better to speed cap without a speed slice ifyou have good SEAs or BH speed, but as you have said, that is not the case here.
Let's take for example a Master Carbineer with the privledge of a few SEAs. Let's say all in all he has +75 speed (a fair number, I think). Let's start withtwo common Elite carbines of 3.7 speed, 145-220 damage. Let's give one a 30% speed slice and the other a 30% damage slice. This makes the first (Elite S) 2.6 speed, 145-220 damage, and the second (Elite D) 3.7 speed, 189-286 damage. Here are the DPS results for each:
WeaponMax DPS Special Target No Armor (PvE) Target Light Armor (PvP) Target Light Armor and
Ranged Damage Mitigation
Level 3 (PvP)
Elite S 908.37 1135.46 227.09 271.49
Elite D830.68 1038.35 207.67 248.49
As you can see, the results are much better for the speed sliced carbine.

Its people that use dxr6 carbines that give carbineers a bad name.

If you guys honestly think a dxr6 is worth anything, then come challenge my character, Ahriman, to a duel on Wanderhome. I use a base damage sliced laser carbine, and everytime someone comes at me with anything but a laser, they are punished, and punished hard

Well my friend, if I could bring my full host of equipment and template without grinding it.....then you might change your toon. But at the same time, I couldn't damage you with similar equipment so it would be a draw....only a Jedi, CM, orDoT Dudeshave gotten any more than a draw out of me....
But hey, give us the stats on this "legendary" Laser Carbine and I can do the math from here.....
Or maybe I will have to place a call to Novamarine, who was on Wanderhome ![]()
