In PvP - it's helpful to be capped and use CoB to cause it to happen more often.
In PvE, against high-level mobs, it's worthless - Elders and Krayts ignore primary and weapon-specific defenses altogether - the only thing you can do to disrupt their accuracy is blind them, and even then they have a higher accuracy mod than you ever will.
You're much better off trying to get as much state defenses worked into your template as possible, either through skills or SEAs. Those are far more useful in PvE AND PvP.

Yeah, counterattack definately doesn't work nearly as well in PvE, for some reason.

I have yet to see any evidence or testing to prove that having a counter attack higher then 125 does nothing.

Neither do i, it will help slightly in High-end PvE, and it will be very effective in PvP. I dont know where you heard, that, but Counterattack works fine.

he said nothing OVER 125 does anything... and he's right.
125 is the effective cap for mods. +2000 counterattack = +125 counetattack. The only way to get it to go past the 125 cap is with food, which are capped at +25... giving a grand total of 150 possible mod points.

I tested it myself. I counterattack just as much without carbineer than I do with it.

yeah 125 counterattack is all you need, and works well against other swordsman in pve (PHs suck for accuracy)

i have tested 125 counterattack and 190 counterattack and deffinatly gte 190. It diffinatly goes above the cap dont listen to these people who have probably never tried it.

I tested it, and it didn't do a damn thing. Master swordsman and a +15 counterattack SEA is all you need. Anything more than that doesn't do crap.

I'm not even gonna bother arguing. If you want to try it, then by all means, try it.

I have +154 Counterattack and I do notice a difference
There is another post on the forums about counterattack whichclaims morethan 125 counterattackdoes help. A quick summary of the reasoning is:
It caps at 125 but being intimitdated or stunned lowers your counterattack. i.e. if your counterattack is 125 it might go down to 75 when your intimidated, if your counterattack is200 only the first 125 works but if your intimidated it will drop to 150 and still cap at 125.

Intimidate nullifies counterattack, except for a base percentage which can't be nulified. So someone getting intimidated, who has 190 skill, will counterattack just as much as someone with 125 counterattack, who was intimidated. And that is very rare. I'd guess it's like 1-5% chance.
